Equalizer/EQ settings
How do I adjust the equalizer to hear soft sounds? For example, breathing of survivors, moans of injured survivors, whispering boon totems, breathing of Michael, etc. And at the same time turn down loud sounds. For example, the screams of survivors when you hang them on a hook, hitting, the sounds of Nemesis mutation.

You cannot

Sounds are set in the game to a specific point, you cannot adjust individual sounds - just on your own sound settings on headphones - volume up/down etc.

For example, if one person can hear the middle range of sounds in the headphones, and another - the entire range. That is, the first person cannot adjust the equalizer so as to hear the same range of sounds as the second person?!

You can use software to enhance certain frequencies, but it's a global per-PC thing and not directly tied to DBD. That becomes a pain in the ass over time and is just worth to learn to use DBD's mixing.

What you are looking for is a compressor/limiter. I don't know of software like Audio HIjack for Windows, however.

As I was looking for similar to handle badly mastered Youtube videos. I installed Equalizer APO software which allows you to insert VST plugins. There are many good free compressors out there but I expect you want something quite transparent. I like VladG Limiter 6 because it's versatile.

Only to mention it if you have no clue of software.
There are "analog" (you know the ancient real world stuff) EQs and Compressors.
You can simply go from your Lime/Headphone out of your computer into an analog device and plug in your headphone there.
Works completely without software - and actually works 100%.

You can't change anything in game if that's what you're asking. You can alter the clarity of some frequencies via an equalizer app but that comes at the expense of hearing other sounds. A high end pair of headphones+amplifier will help more than anything. But the audio mix is usually all over the place in this game regardless and it varies from patch to patch.

I know there is a reason for the sounds being set this way, but the audio levels for things like chase music can be absolutely pain inducing. Especially for Doctor's music. Like I have my volume most of the way down and it still hurts. It would be nice to at the very least be able to turn down or turn off certain chase music tracks or switch back to the old default chase music. The default music doesn't have the higher frequencies that cause pain.

Boost your treble settings to hear finer details (equalizer apo is a good software to experiment with.) Bass drowns out the audio a lot especially for Billy with his music consistently getting louder after each patch. (why?) I do know there is a sound bug for survivors making no footsteps or sounds on the ground. But that's a dbd thing, not your fault at all.
