Killers - When Do You Give Survivors Hatch/Gate?
For me:
- If someone has been mannered, I'll usually give them gate. Especially if they've been fun/played well and was let down by their team.
- If the other side has a DC and sticks the game out, I'll almost always give at least one person gate, sometimes two.
On the other hand, if even one player is BM, it's die time.

When I feel like it. I AM GOD.

I stopped giving the hatch or gate when Survivors would STILL insult me, as if they legit thought I had forgotten how to play in the last 1-2 minutes of a game, or their 'l33t skillz' had somehow allowed them to wriggle free while I stood still over the hatch/near the exit gate.
I figure, if I'm going to get the insults either way; I'm at least going to walk away with the BP. Screw 'em.

Haha yes, I know your exact meaning.
I had a bit of a laugh with the wife the other night as she was watching me play. I think I said something like 'I don't mind giving them the gate, but they need to know definitively that it was me doing it'.
I'll tend to go into games hard and then ease up. If I go easy from the start, I get gloated at. If I am crushing and then ease up, sometimes I'll even get thanked.

If I have maxed deviousness. 2,500 Dev and 700 Sacrifice points could be a lot to give up. But if I’m only getting three hundred points for a kill, I’ll gift someone else the 7,000 instead.

When they're Dweets.

Here's a question: when do you give up trying to give them the hatch?
I usually give them three tries. First, I'll swing my weapon while holding them. Then, I'll drop them and shake my head no. And finally, when we reach the hatch, a vigorous head shaking yes.
1 -
Nope. Dwights are on my KOS list. Ditto Aces.
If there's one player that's going to act the fool in the game and annoy me, it's generally one of these two.

Either when the last survivor was good/funny enough to win me over, or so clueless I'd feel bad for killing them.

I almost never give the hatch. If they find it on their own accord, good for them - but too often I end up standing by it waiting. I'd rather close it and give them the gate, as they can at least usually find those.
0 -
There's no reason I do it all just depends how I feel at the time. Usually if I walk past hatch on way to hook last person I'll give it but I don't often go out my way to find it for them.

I don't know why but I enjoy carrying them around looking for the hatch. It's like our little adventure!
4 -
I never kill survivors anymore really, even if one annoys me I'll be especially sure to let them go so they can gain MMR and face sweatier killers for their punishment.
2 -
By default, unless I have a challenge that needs them dead or they did something in match to un-earn it - BMing, sandbagging, or letting teammates die.
I do tend to force survivors to acknowledge that I'm being nice, though; I'm not going to let you find the hatch, I'm going to down you and drop you on it, or sit on it and only move off if you boop me or give me your item. Too often I would spare someone and get trash talked in chat because they thought I got outplayed or I didn't see them. Visibly giving hatch tends to calm down people/teams who were otherwise salty about how the match went.

Aww. I've been playing present Dwight all month. He's my most festive survivor.

I give hatch when I play against potato survivors and not always, mainly when one of them did a ragequit or one of them suicided. If I'm going to get 4K without a single gen done I feel sorry for them and let the last one escape.
Also this depend on my mood, if I've had a losing streak and I'm enraged I'm merciless and none of the things mentioned above really mind and I won't spare no one.

I don’t think I’ve ever given someone the hatch. I know I don’t like being given “pity points” so I don’t give them out either.

Quentins always get hatch/gate, idc if they're toxic.
As for everyone else, I usually give the last survivor the hatch, unless I know the only reason that survivor is alive is because they hid all game and didn't help their team.
0 -
Nearly always as long as they didn't BM and they made an attempt to rescue the second last survivor or showed they actively helped their team. If they were just dead weight hoping they can hide out to the last minute they can give me the Sacrifice BP instead. Also, if they're a David King with No Mither I'm assuming they're doing the Adept David King or the No Mither Tome challenge and they're guaranteed to not get a third hook as long as they don't BM. That's a painful achievement/challenge to do.

If the team didn't do to well and I feel I did well enough I'll let someone out same if someone dc'd I sometimes give the hatch

All said and done here, by others peeps.
If they were nice and gave me some fun chases, but not BMed, I occasionally give them the hatch or gate. Also if I totally dominated the game and crushed them, but sometimes it feels good to utterly demolish a team and then get a 4K :)
Also, I love to first down then. If a good player gets downed by me when they got two light bulbs of the gate lit, I often show mercy and just open the gate and evem give even a lift inside.
These days I sometimes encourage them in the after game chat to give a poor killer, who got totally crushed by the survivors, a mercy hook. Change and the de-escalation of the rising hatred between the two groups can only happen, if we understand each other and give the occasional human nod in an otherwise brutal game about slaughtering and sacrificing each other.

I’ll give hatch or gate if I stomped their team or if the last survivor played really well and wasn’t toxic.
If one of their teammates DCs I will usually let all of them out unless they are being toxic or intentionally not helping their teammates.

1. When I get potatoes and only one good/decent survivor that can loop me, but he/she is not toxic. I'll give him the hatch like a reward for playing better than others and because I feel bad he had a potato team.
2. If I had fun and nobody was toxic.
3. If that survivor is cute and makes me laugh.
If they have a DC, I'll just not play seriously at the start of game. Then when I think it's ok I'll try to kill them because I need bloodpoints.

If I'm too lazy to find the last person I may just stand still and let them get hatch since I feel I have already won and don't care about the fourth. If the match was REALLY bad for the survivors, I will give the last person the hatch provided I have hooked them before. If they haven't been hooked, then I'm hooking them for point reasons. I may also possibly give hatch to someone who I respected because they were very good and gave me a run for my money. Provided they didn't act toxic.

If they are clearly weaker than me. If i get newbies i usually stop if i dominate and let them do stuff and get out.
0 -
If the EGC has started and I have NWO, I will always give the survivor the Exit Gate. I'll even smack the gate and nod my head.
0 -
I can't resist someone being goofy, it's always fun to see someone willing to play around. Slowly walk towards me, nod, drop their item, crouch and look up in that funny looking way. Do any of that and I'll be very tempted to join in, simple as that.

when i feel like it or when they do something funny

Regarding DCs its a kind of double-edged sword. I can see how it instantly puts the survivors in a bad spot, but on the other hand I don't see why I should always punish myself, just because some dude rage quits in my face (or on my shoulder).
So normally I don't play any less kill-y, but it massively increases the odds of giving the last one the hatch.
BTW, one of my last games I had a player raging at me, that I got a 4K. He complained that good killers always let the last one escape, as it is more blood points for everyone. And when I asked if he gives mercy hooks to 0K killers he said "of course. I mostly farm, so I don't care. Bad Killer :("
I was kinda confused by that one, but I guess he was the very, very odd one out, if he was serious.

When survivors start not doing gens, letting me kill them, not teabagging, clicky clicky etc then I’ll start giving hatch/gate. Until then, never.
0 -
When the survivors are inexperienced or I just want to flex. Sometimes just because I find the hatch on my way to hook the last survivor.

If im running agitation or mad grit tben ywah its a fun ride

Same for me.

I'll give it to any non-toxic survivor that I that played and I felt we had a good match.
There was a time when I was playing Clown, I slugged a Steve after gates opened, and the rest of the survivors tried to rescue him as I camped him as he was prone. They eventually rescued the Steve, but I got another down as a result, which I dragged over to the gate. Post-game they they were a little surprised and asked why I let them go. "I just wanted to see how you'd end up rescuing Steve", I said. They thanked me, we had a good laugh, and wished each other good luck in the next game.
Toxic survivors get no mercy however.

Very rarely and on a whim. Usually if I feel like someone died to something that was kinda BS or if they had a horrible team like DCs and AFK players. But 1 afk player or 1 dc doesn't guarantee it. Largly depends on my mood and how they played.
Heh I recall one game where the same survivor who earned a 'hook on the back basment hook and smack on hook' from me, I also carried to hatch at the end XD

Pretty much whenever. If I had to close the hatch to work out where you are... nope. But otherwise? Sure, I don't really care, as long as I'm having fun.
And I'm having more fun now I've changed Killer, which is depressing.

I give a free escape when i just feel like it, but if your toxic ill let you bleed out on floor until you die.
0 -
Maybe when they start giving me free kills. You know, instead of walking out the exits, they just stay in and let themselves die. That's the killer equivalent of survivors expecting the killer to give them a free escape.
1 -
- If two or more people DC
- If their teammates were being unsportsmanlike (Leading the chase towards another survivor, pointing teammates out, etc.)
- If they played good and was not toxic.
0 -
I'm quite prone to giving the hatch or gate to the last survivor if its Meg they'll always get it but generally virtually every game i'll let the last one go (after downing them just to prove to myself I could have the 4k)
If someone has played particularly well in the game i'll always let them out regardless of if they're the last survivor or not these days I don't wanna lower their MMR purely because their teammates were either terrible or selfish.
I won't let the T bagging or flash clickers out for free of course neither bothers me in game but I'm not rewarding them for it.
I also don't let Steve out sorry Steve mains play well & get out on your own or die under any other circumstances its just a highly irrational personal issue!

I have 3 rules:
1) not toxic and played really well
2) not toxic and got ######### by a teammate (think dc, sandbag, useless squad, etc.)
3) not toxic and did something cute/brave (giving me gifts, letting me do my challenges, randomly standing up to me, showing me funny bug, etc )
0 -
Pretty much guaranteed for me unless they did something throughout the game to annoy me. Very rarely do I get stuck with those people after a 3k though... 🤫
0 -
i quit doing it and i've never felt better.
1 -
Tbf, if i feel like it..
i usually won't give em hatch unless it spawned around me while im tryna hook.. otherwise. 4K =D
That or they'd want to insult me even after i give hatch... so it's not really a win either way
0 -
Always. My goal, as a killer, is to get a 4 man escape after hooking everyone twice.
However, I have reached an mmr level where this has gotten surprisingly difficult, as they just immediately kill themselves on hook or the others refuse to unhook even though I am literally standing in the opposite corner of the map doing nothing.
0 -
Why would you do that? it sounds boring.
0 -
To avoid rising in MMR and getting hard games.
1 -
Those are the survivors they balance the game around btw
2 -
If I happen to walk past it while carrying the last survivor to a hook
Cuz I usually feel nice
If their team was bad or disconnected
