DBD's Guide To...The Deathslinger
I'm curious to see what builds and tips and tricks you three people that use the Deathslinger have. I myself have no tips or tricks but here is my build:
Hex: Retribution/Hex: NOED/Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain/Hex: Plaything
I also got the oxen bounty costume cause I'm fancy.

Save the best for last if you're a good shot. I'm all ears is fantastic if you're good at finegling walls while managing a chained survivor.
Monitor and abuse
Use iri add on on survivors unhooking for consistent expose
Use a cross hair app
Pay attention to survivor patterns, they're pretty brain dead and whatever angle they show you when you shoot at them the first two times is probably what they'll do the rest of the game.
Let Deathslinger sleep, he's tired and the poor guy deserves his rest.

Well the reason no one hardly plays him now is he was nerfed to hard without anything to compensate.
2 -
The slow ADS speed what killed it for me I don't mind the terror radius nerf to much, but really they should've just given him a lullaby like trickster so he can't cheese invisible shots when using M&A. I only play him for dailies now since he's just no longer fun at all to play now when we got huntress, trickster, and several other range/hybrids that are a lot more fun.
Build though BBQ, Agitation, Starstruck, and Scourge Hook.... bird lady small PGtW, W/E it's called.

Play huntress.

I have much more fun shooting my gun then throwing an ax. Plus, I'm a terrible aim with her, whereas with him I can get them at least half the time.

#########.
Well maybe you should preaim, I don’t really know

Noed, no way out, lethal pursuer, agitation, starstruck are all good perks on him.
Midwich offerings are helpful as well. Abuse that Terror Radius and make BHVR regret nerfing that.

I understand a lot of people are salty over his nerf and I wasn't here for it so I wouldn't know. All I know is what we got and I take what's there and make do.

Thats another thing, you can tell when she's getting ready to throw by the sound she makes. Plus she has to find a locker to replenish he supplies. It's not that I hate Huntress, I just love Deathslinger.

You're lucky, then.
It's not that Slinger is bad, it's that he FEELS bad...if you played Old Slinger youd really feel it. But since you didnt, you dont knowwhat you're missing.
Still a very viable killer, keep at it man!

Well the main thing people were upset about was his terror radius nerf and your build helps solve that with plaything. I'd probably run corrupt intervention over NOED in your build as it helps a lot with early game. That or since you have all these totems run Rancor instead. Rancor really underrated. Gives location information throughout the game. Gives unlimited exposed that can't be cleansed by one survivor at the end of the game and allows you to kill that survivor.

His strongest playstyle is still shooting ASAP ("quickscoping"). Don't be fooled by the buff the devs gave to the ADS movement speed, the sluggish sensitivity means it's laughably easy to dodge a Slinger that keeps the gun up like a Huntress.
Pre aim around corners for easier shots. Let's say you're taking a turn at a shack corner, you should be raising your gun around half a second before making the turn and immediately press the shoot button.
Slinger is the only killer that can control where survivors get hit. Try to always reel them away from safe zones after a shot.
Always reel while walking backwards. It makes breaking the chain harder for survivors.
Besides that idk what to tell anymore, he's a pretty straight forward killer.Maybe try a crosshair if you're struggling with the aim. Slinger is as good as you are at shooters.
And welcome to the club of the 5 Slinger players that stayed after the nerf.

Run rancor over NOED? Or Corrupt Intervention? I've got my pencil up, ready to take notes!

You're the second person to mention a crosshair...how am I supposed to attain a crosshair?
0 -
Do you play on PC? Some monitors have an option to use a crosshair, and I believe Windows does it as well.
0 -
Nah, XBOX.

Ight, Former Slinger Main here, gunna teach you a lil lesson in Trickery,
Stbfl: 100% Best perk to run on em, you can only lose 2 stacks on the obsession if you break the spear on em,
Ruin / pop: Is also a must, slowdown is def needed..
Brutal Strength: Break them pallets boi, we don't need them here,
No Way Out: There is alot of use for this perk... i actually like it =D
Do i still like this slinger we have now? No, revert the damn changes... i rarely touch em,
BUT i'll still offer thy tips for those that're interested =D

Hello, I used to have Legion and Deathslinger as my two co mains. Unfortunately, Deathslinger's nerfs largely left him completely and totally without his own niche where he's the best at what he does. For that reason, I'd recommend finding a different main.
Now, if you want to play Deathslinger anyway... Here's my advice. The one thing that Deathslinger still has going for him is an above average chase. So, you need to build around that.
Perk slot 1: Save the Best for Last. This perk makes Deathslinger scary. All his swings post reel count as a basic attack and can use it incredibly well. In addition, you can break your chain when injuring the Obsession to save 2 stacks.
Perk slot 2: Monitor and Abuse. Let's do some math. Deathslinger runs at 4.4 m/s Survivors run at 4.0 m/s. Difference of 0.4. To make up for Survivors running 8m earlier, it takes you 20 seconds. No other perk will save you that much time per chase so... Use it.
Perk slot 3: Gen Regression. While Deathslinger's chase is strong, it is slow. You're going to need a perk to wreck the progress made by the other survivors while you were chasing somebody else. Ruin and Pop are most common. Jolt and Pain Resonance are good. I personally think Oppression and Eruption are underrated. Though I'm not sure how well they work for Deathslinger.
Perk slot 4: Info perk. Obviously you can't get into chases if you don't know where anyone is. BBQ or Thrilling Tremors are the obvious choices. There are others obviously.
Deathslinger also uses insta down perks quite well.

No.

I'd suggest pop over ruin since you can't get screwed by totem placement

To sum up:
Build option 1 - BBQ/Agitation/Starstruck/Scourge Hook(?)
Build option 2 - NOED(or NWO)/Agitation/Starstruck/Lethal Persuer
Build option 3 - Plaything/Corrupt Intervention/Retribution/Gift of Pain
Build Option 4 - STBFL/POP/M&A/BBQ
Look about right?

You play Huntress, or any other Killer that focuses on an ok chase and zero map pressure, oh wait, there's Trickster
0 -
I'M NOT PLAYING HUNTRESS.
JESUS.

Those are good builds just ignore everyone telling you to play someone different
I love trapper and and deathslinger even if they are both weak
0 -
I get it, you like cowboy man but you know for a fact he's weak and an inferior Huntress

LEAVE MY THREAD.

I found another one but I don't know if it's pre or post nerf: STBFL/Devour Hope/M&A/POP
0 -
That one's good as well although personally if your gonna run a hex I think you should run ruin or haunted grounds
I mean personally I don't like hexes because nowadays with the boon meta people are scoping for totems right from the start and devour is a amazing perk but the issue is once you got 3-5 stacks on it when you hit someone and they go down instantly it lets the whole team know you have it
So then they go looking for it even harder
But those are some good builds just try and relax and enjoy playing the game Ik personally these days I don't care much about getting 4 kills I just wanna hit some sick shots
0 -
Yeah I think I'm just going to try a few different ones out and see what works best for me. Who knows, I might just like my original build beat! (I doubt it though) and you gotta love a sick shot!
