Dead Hard as Killer Perk would demonstrate how unfair it is
By pressing the E button, the killer does a dash forward, allowing him to reach the survivor in situations where it would not be possible. Whenever a survivor is able to reach a window or pallet, the killer reaches the survivor using this perk. That's how Dead Hard works, but in reverse. It's the only exhausting perk that doesn't require any management or activation conditions, just pressing a button to prolong a chase. The day DH goes through a nerf like DS or a complete rework like ruin, DbD will have taken a step closer to a fair and more balanced game.

So it's kinda like a killer's lunge attack?...

so Here’s how the perk would be
Press the action button to preform a dash forward, during this time you cannot be blinded or stunned. This perk has a cooldown of 80/70/60 seconds.

I don't think the analogy works because it's comparing asymmetrical experiences.

As much as I think DH needs altering; you can't just slap it on a Killer and say 'This proves it's OP'. Let me show you why:
I think Balanced Landing is OP! Imagine if a Killer could drop from a hill or building and get a speed-up effect! This just shows that Balanced Landing is OP!
Or:
I think DStrike needs changing! Imagine if, when the Killer picked a Survivor up, he could hit a skillcheck and stun the Survivor for 5 seconds! No wriggling free for 5 seconds, or they would be locked in place if flashlight/pallet saved during this timer!
Flipping a perk between Killer or Survivor does not prove anything, since they play too different.

*laughs in Blight, launching over half the map at the press of a button *
Wait! I don't play Blight, because he utterly confuse me! Oh well, whatever.
Actually, everything is already said and done: you can't compare apples to oranges and a lot of perks would break down if you just slap them on the other faction.

I agree with you overall, but the second option doesn't seem to crazy and I wonder how that'd actually work. Just once per each survivor pick up being able to prevent a struggle out due to blinds or pallets. Since the killer can conceivably do multiple pick up it may honestly work as a perk. Or it may be broken as #########.

If they removed hit validation from lunge attacks, I would say yes. The amount of hits you would get on greedy survivors would be comparable to... Before we got hit validation. And it was a lot, because survivors are sussy baka indeed.

lunge attack but instant teleportation
think the "nothing personal kid" meme
1 -
agreed, if devs make noed for survs. At egc you move faster and the killer needs to hit you 3 times to put you in diying state

Coup De Grâce moment

fire up is so OP! imagine if survivors did actions faster for every gen they complete!

I tend to agree Dead Hard is probably nerf worthy, it’s the most popular exhaustion perk by a wide margin and one of the top two or three most popular perks overall (up there with Borrowed Time). The reason is because it has not one but two good effects - the lunge for distance and also invulnerability to attack. Now that the perk is working properly because of hit validation the invulnerability is actually a reliable way to force a miss. And the lunge for distance is by itself enough for a lot of the people who use Dead Hard to equip it. I did a poll last month and all the players who said that they use Dead Hard regularly said they would still use Dead Hard even if you could be damaged while lunging with it.
So basically they could literally take out the invulnerability entirely and just have Dead Hard be a way to gain a burst of distance but one where can still be hit and people who like Dead Hard now would still probably use it. That’s how powerful the current version is - you can take away one of its two primary effects and it’d still be widely used.

Lets compare them apples to apples, why not give it a 40 second cooldown like dead hard?
4 -
Because that would make the perk good, Killer's aren't allowed to have good perks besides Slowdown.
2 -
Looks at slowdown and only sees Pain Resonance
What
0 -
Deadlock, Corrupt, Ruin, No Way Out, and Pop are all good perks.
0 -
Except a killer's lunge is punishing if they miss. With Dead Hard you never miss, because you always get the i-frames.
2 -
I agree that DH needs a nerf, it's overpowered if used right.
Comparing it with Killer is a bad idea though.
Also, I always find it funny how threads like these turn into a Mortal Kombat: Survivor vs Killer everytime.

1, 2 can be stealthed,
3 gets broken the second you load in because survivors start the game pre-cleansing it,
4 is pretty decent, 5 has to be delivered
0 -
Irrelevant, Deadlock is meant to stop 2 gens from popping back to back and that is what it does, and Corrupt is still 2 minutes of Gen time you are spared even if you cannot find someone right away, do not pretend these perks are bad please.

*dashes to counter ds
sounds like a fair trade killers get a dash to counter survivors power (perks) and survivors get a perk to counter most killer powers (you know the one)
0 -
I'm not pretending they are bad, and if they work for someones playstyle then more power to them. The only blocking perk that I regularly use is thrilling tremors, arguably the hardest of the 3 to get value out of since the first 2 just do what they do.
I, personally, don't like gen blocking and I just think Pain Resonance combines the strengths of ruin and pop while removing their biggest drawbacks. Namely being able to be broken, and having to go out of your way to drop a pop. So now I only need 1 perk slot instead of 2.

I've made the same comparison, as have others, numerous times. The analogy totally works.
0 -
Isn't that how it actually goes?
Like everyone sits on the first 3 gens alone. But the last 2 gens usually are done in coop.
0 -
Head on as Killerperk, let's go! 😁

So we making a killer lunge require a perk? Or is that too similar to Coup de Grace?
0 -
Just make coup de grace passive.
or something

Well before the "buff" it would look like this:
You dash forward, survivors stun you regardless and you got exhausted on your perk.
... yes Dead hard had this moments.
I agree overall they should fix it for both sides. Atleast the validation should feel fair.
0 -
It's because how the poor survivor players with the copy paste ds,iw,bt and dh build are supposed to play the game without dying in 20 seconds of chase (just like me playing survivor).
Now being reallistic is mostly because both sides are on the mindset (most of the time) that X perk/addon is/isn't broken under their convenience.
1 -
If we are totally correct it would also often look like this:
You use the dash before the survivor is able to drop the pallet and doesn't even get the chance to stun.
Aka the reliable way to use dh for distance before and after the "buff".
0 -
it can't, because they don't cancel each other out. dead hard tops a lunge. it also provides distance. if a killer's lunge went further or had 0 missed attack cooldown at the end of it, then it would be more comparable/the same.
0 -
As you say, depending on how it was implemented it would be good or not. By imposing a cooldown dependent on not chasing (which would really be bad), you make it mediocre, just to prove your point.
"i think you grossly underestimate the power of killer meta perks" and I think you grossly underestimate the survivor meta perks, that's probably because CoH and DH are broken and no one will prioritize talking about other perks.
"probably because survivors tend to complain a lot less and just play the game" well, i can't believe we're on the same forum, i see complaints from both sides here. Sounds like you want to create a situation where the game is balanced and only the killers are complaining, your last sentence shows that.

When I play survivor I never use Dead Hard because I know how it feels playing killer vs it. It really feels like a cheat code to screw the killer over. I do however run DS because I play solo and need the anti tunnel just in case.
When I play killer and I see survivors running Dead Hard and DS in the same build I just shake my head in disgust. How many second chances you need? Plus unbreakable and other junk mixed in. Second chance city.
