New Boil Over is going to be abusable

With the change to Boil Over, if the killer drops down while carrying a survivor, immediately 25% of wiggle will be added on top of the already buffed wiggle strength making it harder to carry. In most cases this will be fine, but in certain areas this will be abused.

Take the Thompson house for example. There is already a spot where the chest spawns that survivors use to prevent from being hooked since there is no hook in the house (excluding the basement) and the only way to possibly get to a hook outside it to drop down the hole in the second floor and pray there is a hook just outside. Even without the new boil over, this can be dependent on rng or even impossible. With the new buff, it will be impossible no matter what to be able to hook in that corner.

This isn’t even the only example. Haddonfield roofs where you can’t go back inside and groaning store house scaffolding are to name a couple. I guess PTB will show us just how bad it can or cannot be.

Not to worry, because iron grasp exists.

As you said, PTB should show if it'll be too much. If you DL the PTB, you should try, and even record yourself to prove the point.

It was nice to buff a never used perk and I have to admit I didn't think about such situation about it. I hope it won't be game breaking as Breakdown was during its bug. (IIRC the name of the perk, the Jeff's one.)

Just imagine Haddonfield offering, Flip Flop, Unbreakable, Tenacity and Boil Over.

Get downed while vaulting the window on the other side of the balcony, so you get more time recovering while the Killer is wiping their weapon and vaulting the window, they are unable to not drop from a high place while carrying you, so guaranteed 25% bonus to wiggling, add to it the half of already recovered progress you made when the Killer did all the animations and I think you have a pretty decent chance of getting free if the a hook doesn't spawn there.

But that's the most ideal scenario, we would need to see during the PTB if it would actually cause issues, but I see your point.

I swear there are hooks right in the backyards of those houses on Haddonfield that you're talking about. Yeah, dropping from a height adds 25%, but it's still a really short walk probably from that awning to the hook in the yard right?

The Thompson House that the original post mentioned might be trickier.

What do you mean? I just gave an example where this buffed version could be really useful if all stars align, it's not like you will be able to use the 25% wiggle bonus from dropping at all times.

I feel like people are forgetting that boil over literally tells the killer you have it, because it debuffs them while carrying you.

If you as a killer are in a situation where you see the survivor has boil over and have to drop down to make a nearby hook and you don't think it's close enough, then just drop the survivor and leave them slugged.

You're right, but I swear it doesn't spawn there sometimes, there is a basement instead I believe, it could cause some confussion if the range can reach the basement from the top. I think Thompson House does also have a hook right in the corner of the map most of the time, but if I'm just mistaken, it could be really scary.

I thought you are saying it should not be used like that lol. Anyway, who knows how much useful will be this buff. They will see in beta.

A perk that robs the killer of a hook after an earned down just because Kate's ass "wiggles" extra hard is dumb. Niche perk at best, should not work often at all.

Then they should just remove this perk from game and that's it.

Who said it should work often? It should work sometimes, not at all. And by the day, not only Kate can use boil over. 💁

Yeah, I don't like this change. It's so stupid. It's gonna be so abusable on RPD in library.

The problem isn't that it never works and people are afraid of it sometimes working. It's that it's now possible to create a situation where it always works. At that point, where survivors bring map offerings and continually run to the same corner to become immune to hooking, the perk is not fair.

But we'll have to see how it pans out.

Also if the Teammates know what's going on they'll be there to help

Flashlight save attempts (or Flashbang or Fire Crackers) or the actual blind landing

    Dropping pallets

    Breakout

    Body Blocking

    Sabo

Anything they normally do is amplified by whatever Boil Over does

Not a big fan of anything that let's you get out of killers grasp without help of others. With the current balance this can be extremely punishing on some maps or some specific spots where survivors could just run to every single time. Imagine this paired with coordinated sabotage... you won't be able to hook anyone ever.

Yesterday i got a match against 4man swf all with boil over + breakout + flip flop + sabotage toolboxes and it was impossible to hook anybody.

EDIT: it was the silent hill mapp

Well something's got to change because killers are at 3+ kills per game. So unless the meta is just survivors happy to get farmed, killers need some push back.

Also this need to whine, before systems have had any need to play out just stinks of entitlement.

In any event, the devs will update these areas you are complaining about. Track history shows they do.

Infinites are long gone (no not these soft infinites killers whine about when they get owned).

Devs don't like it when their killers are unhappy.

i tried the new "meta" build (Boil Over, FlipFlop, Unbreakable, Tenacity) and it's kinda useless in most situations when you play solo.

It shines when you have a friend who runs Breakout or Saboteur, but other than that you have to completely adjust your playstyle, run to corners and stuff and even then, if they don't fall down it does nearly nothing

I thought killers got sick of playing against the same second chance perks?? Here’s a buffed survivor perk to shake the meta up but nope killers don’t approve.

Im all for shaking up the meta but all 4 survivors forcing me to slug them to death on top of library is promoting unhealthy gameplay. We can shake up the meta without blocking an entire part of the game and making the game boring. Even as survivor being the 1 normal person not using the perk on rpd i get killed off because im the only one who can actually be hooked. You cannot realistically compare this perk and other perks that are just "strong".

  • NekoGamerX

with this perk there a lot more slugging and bleed out, this going to get boring fast.

The point people are afraid of is bully squads. Swfs that go in all run that, and abuse it just for laughs not caring about actually playing the game they just wanna cause the killer grief.

Once broken perks come kut, this tends to happen alot, and it takes a ton of feedback to get the devs to see survivors are maliciously doing this.

Sometimes I think the devs add the perks they do knowing builds are strong but think only a select few survivors will find out only to realize the opposite happens

They all find out quickly, and a ton of swfs abuse it for vids.

I agree with @solidhex the combo is useless, and even with friends, it requires a lot of coordination. Sure it can work but often requires too much effort and involvement at the expense of generators. If it's such a problem for you, bring Iron Grasp, Agitation, or even Mad Grit. Everyone has to adjust to meta and changes; BO is like SG and other new perks that seem strong but are more situational.

I've been a killer main for years and I am about ready to switch to just playing survivor. The devs who make this game seem to just keep making new ways for the game to be unfun for killers and this is very much one of them. Since the new perk version was released, it has been coming up a lot and just serves to help survivors in the most frustrating way for killers.
