How do you break Ghost Face out of his shroud?
It seems almost impossible for my PC to do it. I went and tested it out in a custom game with friends and it actually only worked like 25% of the time I stared straight at him in an empty field. Is there something wrong with the resolution of my game or is it just completely broken? It doesn't make much sense either because my friend can break him out 100% of the time even when he isn't even looking at him or through a wall. How do I actually break him out?

Look at him, than flip a coin and hope you reveal him.

it's possible you are bugged, if you are on pc, go to AppData/Local/DeadByDaylight/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor and open GameUserSettings.ini file and check if both ScreenResolution and ScreenScaleForWindowedMode are set to 100, if they are not, set them to 100 manually

Its actual just some kind of rng. Maybe you will start revealing him while not even knowing where he is, or just follow him and nothing happens.

You don't. I've had several moments where i was staring straight at him at arms length and nothing happened, but when barely aiming at him while we were miles appart, it somehow worked.
That's why GF is my least favourite killer to go against

You have to pray lady luck smiles on you. That's about it.

I just point the center of my camera at him and hope for the best.

It's based on if your camera can see him. I get revealed by people standing behind rock sometimes that I don't even see while playing as GF.

Center him.
Distance matters.
You also need a certain amount of his body in the revealing area of your screen. So don't block him with your own character.
Record some videos of you breaking him out to see if its just bugs or you're really doing it wrong.

I actually had a game yesterday where I was looking right at a ghost face and the game didn't even try to break him out of his power and he was able to mark me. it might be bugged or they changed something when it comes to breaking it.

This is the correct method, although quite unreliable in my experience. Few things are more fustrating than in chase you try everything to break him out of it and you finally do....... just after he exposes ya.
