When are boon totems getting nerfed?
Seriously, every game as killer there are at LEAST 2 survivors using Circle of Healing and/or Shadowstep. They're the most infuriating things to ever be put into this game. And I am including Haddonfield in that statement.
Why can I not do anything about it as killer? I stomp the totem, but the totem stays there and lets them slap their boon on again and again and again.
Survivor puts Shadowstep down. Whenever you chase someone, they hold W to Shadowstep area. Now you have to give up chase in order to destroy Shadowstep totem. Rinse and repeat.
It is NOT fair

The devs posted this week that they aren't overlooking Circle of Healing, they're just still gathering data on it. Basically they have a process where they release something, collect data for at least a few months to give things time to settle a bit, and then make a balance pass. We're still in the stage where they're collecting data while things settle when it comes to Mikaela and her perks and add-ons, including Circle of Healing and Boons in general. So maybe we'll see something in the patch around March? 🤷♂️

Realistically boons should have been changed ages ago. BHVR just refuses to listen to people. They don't need to spend months and months collecting data. It's extremely obvious they need nerfs.
5 -
CoH need a huge nerf but the dev dont want to work on it right now thay are too busy nerfing clown and twin to look at the BS survivor use
7 -
This is BHVR we're talking about. We're looking at (at least) a few more months before they might possibly think about considering that maybe a survivor perk that is clearly grossly overpowered might need to maybe be adjusted slightly.
Once they have determined that they should consider the nerf, they will then spend another few months saying how they're going to do the nerf, pinky promise. It's coming guys, just you wait. You'll be so happy when it comes!
Then a few more months where they just stop talking about it
Then they finally might actually tweak it slightly. Not too much though of course, it's only been two years at this point so we don't have quite enough data to see if it is actually overpowered or not...

The dev in their post said they've been burned in the past reacting too quickly to balance new content so that's why they have a process in place now to give a bit of time for players to get used to it before making changes.

It was obvious that Boons had potential to be problematic from the start. CoH is rough in most games as killer
2 -
I think it's because Boons are a totally new system that they're taking a little longer than usual. Pinhead's add-ons didn't completely change the game like Boons in general do so they were probably comfortable only waiting a couple of months before doing a pass on him.

This process is accelerated any time there is a killer side perk. Survivors get at least 6mo of evaluation. Killers, next minor patch.
6 -
They didn't let pinhead settle before they nerfed him.
3 -
Evaluating a killer vs a per like COH are completely different things. Per example: if a killer comes out and at any ranks the win rate of that killer is say 90%+ that clearly means something is not right and it needs to be looked at.
With COH its different, you can have matches where COH is used and still kilelrs can end with a 4k, while at the same time there are matches where COH is used and killer doesnt get any kills.
Then count in matches where one side or the other is just throwing.
Its easier to evaluate a killer, but not as easy to evaluate a perk thats completely situational.

In a couple of months.

Probably when they've sold enough Mikaela Reids.

It's a bit of a joke. They're in every single match, they provide a huge advantage for a single perk slot, and the time dynamic of them is so poorly thought out that perks designed to give survivors other ways to spend their time end up costing the killer more time regardless of how they're used.

Mettle of Man would like a word with you

Can we acknowledge a difference between Boon totems and CoH?
Exponential isn't problematic at all and is quite weak imho.
Shadowstep is open to interpretation (I hate it more than CoH personally)

This content has been removed.

The usual.. so many killers turned useless with boons chapter. This is bad at a MoM lvl when it was released or when Machine gun build existed.
I still can't believe how they are ignoring this. I bet if it was something that bother survivors it would get fixed or changed in 2 weeks..
1 -
Maybe Exponential isn't a problem like CoH and Shadowstep. I also hate Shadowstep more than CoH.
My main problem with them is being infinite use and so easy to get up and going. As a killer, if a survivor runs into Shadowstep range, I have to actively drop the chase to find the totem because any decent survivor will be able to lose the killer with no scratch marks. And by the time I am able to find someone else, another Shadowstep is up somewhere.
I would love it if the killer destroyed the totem when stomping boons. Still has at least 4 other spots for it then.
4 -
Because killers are still stomping survivors left and right, kill rates are above 50% and Otz experiment showed that killers can 3K + perk/addonless.
Just say you want your easy 4k, come on
5 -
Have you actually played killer at a high MMR recently? I'm hearing boons appear left and right, and survivors know exactly how to abuse them. I never want an easy 4k, that is boring. However, it is also boring chasing survivors who hold W to get to their CoH/Shadowstep boon.
How about you stop making assumptions about who I am as a player and contribute something meaningful to the discussion instead of being condescending?

- He plays DBD for a living so he doesn't represent even a half of the killer playerbase.
- You misunderstood the point of that challenge.
- The results does not show that killers are op or that DBD is killer sided or survivor side. It shows that the game favors the side wich play more scummy with every advantage they can use.
That being said the game its not balanced and need things to be tweaked like boons and DH.
6 -
The game is killer-sided. The stomps are real, if a killer wants to play scummy they will destroy most groups. As for solo... not even funny
2 -
Well take a look at how long it took them to change DS and OoO 😉
I predict it might takes just as long for those 2 perks as well 😥

Otz doesn't represent the average player in this game. Its like using an argument of Faker (considered the best midlaner in the world in League of Legends) to tell the people what is good and what not.
People like Otz also say that to become a good killer, you need above 1000+ hours. Which should not be the purpose of a game imo, especially if it is not even an esport game.

"Collet data for at least a few months" AKA Mikaela is still selling well, when sells drop they nerf it.
7 -
Probably as long as it took them to realise that breakable walls were a failure and remove them
4 -
what are you talking about ?????? kill rates above 50% ? try red rank... 1 hook 2 gen completed, 2 hook 4 gen completed, If you kill 1 survivor you're too lucky.. This game died for killers...
3 -
Wait till they start putting Boons on all the survivors they release.
3 -
Never happen.

Necromancing old threads huh. COH was nerfed btw. Even though the nerf did nothing you people said it’s a survivor item so it will be nerfed in 2 years are WRONG! It was nerfed in 2 months. Still needs more work but atleast they acknowledge it is stupidly strong
1 -
Never hopefully. Just because one perk is op does not mean everything else that's a part of that mechanic needs to be nerfed. Circle of healing is the only boon that is/was a problem.
2 -
COH isn't being nerfed I'm sorry
1 -
Absolutely NOT in my experience. Usage of Boons has significantly dropped for me since the last nerf, both with killer and survivor games. It's not rare now or anything, but if I had to guess some numbers, I would say it dropped from 9 in 10 games to maybe 2 out of 3. And at least half of the time it is in play in my killer rounds, it hardly does anything. Most often I snuff it out before anyone could heal with it, effectively wasting all the time the surv. spent to bless it.
ShadowStep is so rarely used, why you complain about that? As long as it's not in an indoor map (RPD erks), it seldom has much impact. If you have already injured them, track the blood instead of the scratchmarks. I would gladly face four man with Shadow Step, bc that means less of stacked second chance perks.

CoH is the problem, the other boons are fine
2 -
But DBD IS a very time consuming game, if you want to be good with it! There's much to learn for both sides, and with less than 1k hours you should really see yourself as just a novice in this game!
1 -
For one, the last "nerf" barely effected CoH (less than 2 seconds on worst-case scenario difference) and Shadowstep is very broken on maps like The Game, where it's super easy to break LoS and it affects both floors.

Yes, the nerf to CoH does not change much, but it was still enough to significantly reduce the pick rate of the perk, at least in my experience.
Yes, shadow step can be troublesome on some maps, but on others it does not do anything. It gets picked, but far less then CoH. So you might have to worry about it in like 1 of 10 games. It's highly situational, and even in its best situations, there are ways to deal with it (most notable tracking blood instead of scratchmarks. No one plays lucky break). Not broken for me, not even on difficult maps.

Idk.
