6th year anniversary should not have a chapter.
So, I've been pretty much gone for awhile, the burn out has been pretty intense and I don't have that itch to play anymore.
After losing all my data around October I just lost all motivation to keep going. I did log in during December to only get partial rewards and not all of them, which hasn't been reviewed, but oh well. Really isn't a bother if you don't play the game anymore.
But, this update and the things I've seen while just lurking in the forums has been... extremely disappointing. I'm glad some things got buffed when it needed it it be, but the other things is just a huge let down.
I want to enjoy Dead By Daylight again, but right now there is absolutely no point in playing unless they actually put their hearts into it. So, right now. There's just lot in dbd that needs to reviewed.
From a shoddy report system that has the "dude trust me it works" that's also incredibly unfriendly to consoles so reporting any hackers, racism, etc is extremely frustrating since the last time I needed to report a lag switcher I made no progress because the damn website wouldn't load on ps4.
To questionable nerfs, buffs, and reworks because "is scary making something over tweaked" while ignoring the huge mountain of overwhelming issues that NEEDS to be addressed instead of the ones they absolutely focused on.
Like I said, I haven't played this game after October and I have no motivation to until they do things right.
I don't want any more new chapters that force more people to BUY in order to have different game play mechanics to spice things, perks to combat the meta that hasn't been changed, and perks that have a chance to possibily be built in as a game update a year later when it's A.) No longer relevant or B.) Horribly built. I'm looking at Coulrophobia. For those who weren't around, they added Coulrophobia (survivors who are in your Terror radius heal 50% slower) during the meta period where survivors would heal next to pallets with self care. Then they nerfed self care a few months later. Then healing in general. But, they kept Coulrophobia exactly the same. So... they made a perk to combat the meta and then updated the game with the exact changes to combat the meta. Thanks??? But why not do it from the start. That's one of my issues.
My next issue is making game changing decisions locked behind a paywall instead of them being added in like End Game.
Boon totems are the exact thing I want to talk about. These are a special thing that changes up survivor game play, it's small but effective. However, survivors can't experience themselves unless they spent 5 or seven dollars.
It's like making a perk for a killer to kick a generator as a DL- OH WAIT A MINUTE
What I'm trying to say is that I'm tired of these fancy DLCs that could actually change a lot in terms of game play as an update. It's like having end game collapse as a dlc instead of having it as a free update to spice things up. New variants are fine as a dlc, but it's initial release shouldn't have been. But, that's completely up to debate. Whacky gimmicks like headon and stuff is fine, but core game play changes I feel like everyone should experience. However, I could be very much alone in that regard.
Anyway, let's move on to weird nerfs and buffs.
Let's use Hillbilly as a reference since he's the actual king of getting horrifically changed and forgotten. It was originally Freddy, but that's a whole new topic I want to talk about later.
What happened to Billy was just unjustified. If you absolutely needed to nerf Hillbilly, then having his charge take a bit longer and with a longer chainsaw recovery. THAT'S IT. Not this.... whatever this is. Basically now Hillbilly has asthma and he needs to stop and take a bit of a breather before he can sprint again. I guess they also decided on doing that to combat camping... but honestly. Chainsaw camping as Hillbilly? It's like camping as Tier 3 Myers. It doesn't make sense but few people do it. You literally would have a better chance as Bubba which he excels at.
But, this change was so unwarranted and ignored that it became Hillbilly's thing. They arguably struck gold with Bubba and Doctor, but Hillbilly of all characters? Sometimes a rework IS NOT a good thing and it obviously should have been tested more or just left alone.
Hillbilly is such a good example of an update that did nothing more then damage them for no good than for actual healthy change. You could argue that he was over performing, but he at least needed skill to master with who still a chance for survivors to survive against than against a master Nurse. So it seems extremely weird what it happened to Billy.
Then we have another part I want to talk about oh so badly.
I don't know if anyone else is with me on this, but I am also tired of killers being designed to combat the main problem other killers have issues with instead of having those issues fixed as well. Lack of map traversal, looping, etc. Again, they have an issue they bandaid fix with a DLC that they might eventually just patch out instead of patching the issue out right then and there. What really urks me is that they see it as a legit issue, but they pond it off as a DLC for us to fix ourselves that makes things even more annoying.
I'm tired of having at least one/two perk slots dedicated to the issue that could have been resolved now. Or just play as a whole new character to also combat the issue as well. This for me is extremely tiring because we also lose out on originality for each killer.
Which is pretty detrimental for license killers, because they either don't feel like themselves or were just not cared about. Example: Nemesis and Freddy.
I would love for a license chapter, whether it's
Friday the 13th
Five nights at Freddy's
Candyman
Grudge (ugh. That character sends chills down my spine.)
Hatchet
Whatever else people want to be added into Dead By Daylight. I want them to join too, but. No. Not right now.
I don't want a repeat of having a new license character that's only a husk of their former self. Like Freddy and Nemesis (again.) Just to cater to an issue that was relevant at the time or just be so lifeless that it doesn't feel fun or exciting to play.
Pinhead was arguably the best license that did just for the character, I love the character. But... well. The dreaded NFT situation happened. They took a huge success and then just put it into the garbage disposal that gave everyone a huge distaste for the license.
It's... to say it bluntly. It's like they're afraid of success.
I absolutely believe there should not be a chapter for Dbd's 6th anniversary. I think Bhvr needs to give the game some love and allow it to heal and fix things that NEEDS to be fixed. I'm so disappointed right now.
I just want to see things done right instead of questionable changes that doesn't focus on the main issue at hand.
I can go on a little longer, but I've been thinking of what to type into this for a few hours. So I'm gonna stop for right now and when I have more I'll update this post.

What core changes would you like to see to gameplay? (Outside of adding a Universal Boon Perk for Survivors).

Well, for one I'd like better accessibility of perks. I'm tired of three perks to be added in every chapter only for one of them to be good and you'd need to grind out several blood webs to unlock them. Then level several more just put them into a character you actually want to use them for.
Personally, the grind is too much, especially with people who got data wiped they'd be sitting there for hours just to finish bringing everything back to normal. I'd rather enjoy it if they removed leveling up tiers or just lower the levels for teachables again.
I know that's not a core mechanic, but that's one decision I'd like for them to add.
As for an actual core mechanic, a secondary objective or a generator rework on how their done. Something that's engaging isn't just a hold a button simulator. I've played a lot of survivors and the only emotion I felt other than boredom was when I got chased by the killer.

I understand how you feel. But, personally. I'd rather Chucky be added that fits his personality and game play than something that would cater to an issue.

You wrote an interesting little take on things and I commend your effort.
Just a quick note though: The Artist is just Candyman already. Hook hand weapon, creates a standing 'minion' and sends out the thing to 'swarm' the survivors, dealing damage if they get too many swarming them (or get too close). The crows are just reskinned bees.
There was a new Candyman movie, they couldn't get the licensing deal to go through, so they just reskinned the power to an original character.

Progression systems are by far one of the most important aspects of a live service game.
They handle continued Player interest while also serving as a barrier to entry for new Players.
Case in point Destiny 2. I played Destiny 1. Didn't play Destiny 2, but saw a friend play it and they described to me all the new features added this many years in, etc, and I looked at it all and said ######### that I've played MMO's before I'm not doing that ######### again.
I like easy to enter games with relatively short matches. Like League of Legends. Every match is isolated.
Improving new player entry into the game and its core systems is probably one of the major limiting factors of this game. Not only is the gameplay stressful, but you have to literally deal with this slog until you get anything fun to play with. Most people will drop that ######### faster than a turd after chipotle.
The only thing that keeps me around DBD is the atmosphere and uniqueness of the game, and hell I still don't play it as much anymore. I've started to play the crap out of Phasmophobia. If a DBD competitor ever showed up with better systems I'd probably pick it up in a heartbeat, but so far I haven't seen anything nearly as interesting.

I mean hell I used to play Warframe for over 2K+ Hours but I've stopped playing it because I just don't have the time to spread out across everything I want to do.
I've been spoiled by the pickup and drop nature of games like League and DBD (Only because I already have everything unlocked in DBD).

Progression is fine, but I absolutely hate the grind in this. It's tedious. Not rewarding.

Yeah, I agree.
At this point I don't like unlocking Killers because I know that if I want to try a build on it, I have to not only get lucky to grab the Perks I want (I now have 5+ pages of unlockable Perks), I need to go through each Prestige in order not to "waste" blood points later on.

I'd beg to differ. The new Candyman movie and old ones don't actually see Candyman just sending swarms of bees off like that. Closest things to that is the giant biological wave of bees in the first movie and him being covered in them in the newest one.
But, if they made him exactly like that, I would be insanely disappointed and lose all hope in Bhvr.

Exactly. So that's one of the options I'd like to see in this game, on top of so many different ones

Like seriously, let me target Unlock Perks for a Character if I have excess Iri shards to spend, I've got 50K of them and I've developed a taste for Licensed Characters where I can't spend them on any cosmetics. I buy chapters with Cash because I feel the need to support the game, and I rarely buy cosmetics I don't like because I'm not of a collector mindset. (And I have a very narrow selection of characters that I play).
Find a way to uncap prestige, and let me re-unlock Perks with Iri shards.

There's so much they can do. I don't want to support the game anymore until they do a health update. I'm just so tired

Im not the OP but there are tons of things people would like to see changed to the base game instead of a chapter, I.E buffing solo survivor, buffing the base killer mechanics such as some kind of map traversal that all killers have access too, a ton of map rebalances for maps like RCPD and shelter woods, making certain perks base kit that should never have been perks in the first place like shadowborn and kindred(without the killer aura reveal near hooks). Just to name a few

I mean I literally posted an idea for general map traversal and it has simply been crickets. I don’t think people are that interested.
The rest of them though yeah I’ve seen posts about them.

Tbf I think a lot of people just get tired of even suggesting things myself included that's why I don't really make threads about it since it just feels utterly useless bhvr doesn't listen, or at least it certainly doesn't feel like they do. People have suggested hundreds of things that seem like great ideas for tons of problems the game has but they mostly only ever got crickets from the devs. So we can only assume they didn't like the idea for whatever reason, didn't see it, or did like it but weren't competent enough to implement it into the game in a smooth way or maybe they already did try it but it never made it through playtest but I super doubt that since BHVR seems to stubborn to ever backtrack on work they've put hours into a.k.a billy's overheat.

Dev response? I don’t expect one, I’m talking about a community response, criticism, alternate ideas. I’ve literally had one comment on it.

Ne... Nemesis? Worried about future licenses because of the not faithful characters? Are you me?

I've been long disappointed ever since I saw them in action from their reveal. Trust me, if you look for my discussions I made one about Nemesis rework ideas.

I have to do an essay for a class. I’m gonna turn what you wrote in

I'm technically not done either. I'll have more updated when I have the energy

Devs: Anniversary should not be hungry.

All players in the game can open a map of the map during the match. The killers can then click on the map to teleport to a part of it. Also, generators cannot start being repaired until survivors find a gas can on the ground and pour the gas into the generator. If a killer kicks a generator, it knocks the gas can off and the survivors have to find another one, which adds a good amount of built-in slowdown and mobility for every killer.

Make totems more relevant than boons, or hexes.

The problem is most people on the forums recognize nothing we do reaches the devs, I'm not saying that's the sole reason your thread didn't get traction, there could be a myriad of reasons why but I can safely say that many just don't see the point in engaging with posts of that nature when the devs have been very clear on our lack of ability to change anything.

Improving the Survivor Map Item could be interesting but isn't needed as a base for Survivors. A no holds barred teleport across the map seems more like a Killer Power than a base-game feature. And the Gas-can can probably be turned into a Hex:Plaything like Hex that is strictly about adding Entity Block on a Generator.

How he will carry survivors

Why don't you take a look?

Well not to derail this thread but your explanation for your idea is a bit short. I also am not a fan of giving survivors the ability to use the portals as well even with the caveat of giving the killer info on you since we know very well how little that matters when against survivors thst know what they're doing from how abusable old Object of obsession was.

I mean I've been on a journey to get Nemesis changed but everyone just gave up except me. Maybe once he gets fixed I'll try Freddy. But yeah I really wish he was like himself. And it's not even like the true Nemesis wouldn't work like some people think. Some think he'd be op but that's not the case. He doesn't need to be shooting the rocket launcher every 10 seconds or be running at all times. He just needs to have the abilities. He just doesn't even have them. I mean he has the tentacle but it's like a slap instead. It'd be a bit cooler if it was similar to Deathslinger but still different. Obviously weaker since it would completely just negate him if it was as good. But I wish people wouldn't just sit there and let icons that people care about just sit on the menu screen as basically a skin of a caracter that they aren't. I mean at minimum Freddy used to be very cool right? And I really liked the RE trailer. The way Meg just gets demolished I actually liked. Nothing that was cool from even the trailer is present.

I'd like it if he was the only killer in the game that had something special when all the gens were completed. Like how the Entity would give Nemesis a weapon, it could literally be anything. Like something created by the fog for Nemesis to finish the job or something
0 -
True. A weapon of any kind would just be great too highlight his intelligence. I mean some great lines from the remake is when he first uses the flamethrower says "It can use weapons?"
0 -
I would have loved that. Imagine he grabs your head and either throws you or punches you really hard and you get back up and start limping away and he raises his hand and the entity effect shows up spawning the RPG in his hand and the survivor just looks back with the red light shining on them and then once the smoke clears from the blast, there is no more survivor. Just a black stain on the ground.
