Dev stream - didn't mention if Opponents' Grades will eventually be removed from endgame screen
The dev chat today was good, they answered quite a few questions and it had some fun info. I think the one question I would have liked answered that wasn't brought up, though, was if they're still considering removing your opponents' Grades from the endgame score screens. They mentioned they're reluctant to show the hidden MMR, and that's fine, but they didn't talk about whether or not they still think it's useful to have the opponents' Grades be visible. Those grades just confuse a bunch of players who think they're used for matchmaking when they aren't. I can't count how many posts show up here with people complaining about "MMR" and then talking about how the Grades don't line up in a screenshot.
I'm kind of hoping they eventually stop showing other people's Grades altogether.

That was a bit of a glaring omission- I guess because it wasn't one of the questions that actually got asked, they didn't want to derail too much, but still. I'd like to hear some more about where they're at on that topic internally.

To answer that for you quickly, it's still something that's up for discussion. As you've mentioned, it would reduce some confusion, but there are also folks who absolutely do not want to see them removed.
In a perfect world, they'd stay there as some small form of bragging rights, like "Hey, look how far I've climbed this month." But since ranks have historically been used for matchmaking, that naturally causes some confusion for anyone who missed the memo. At the end of the day, there is no single right answer here.

I asked it, but I doubt I got very many votes.

Maybe just put a tip on the 'tip screens' - 'Grades do not have any effect on matchmaking'.

Thanks for the quick reply! 😄
I totally get the bragging rights thing, at the very least seeing your own personal Grade makes sense for that. And I also understand the urge to, if opponents' grades are hidden, replace that void with something that serves a similar purpose. Hopefully you guys can come up with something else that makes a little more sense than the opponent grades, though, since right now it's "bragging" about beating opponents based on ratings that have a weak correlation to anything else in the game.

I suspect the people who are confused about Grades and matchmaking aren't likely going to be reading tips on the loading screen that closely either. But hey, adding an extra loading screen tip is pretty trivial so... 🤷♂️

Isn't there a middle ground for it? Where you could have a hover-over option for the grades? So you could still check the grades of teammates and opponents if you want to, but they originally are hidden

Just change the grades to the characters profile pic and put in the grade in another way, eg as @Predated has suggested! It would still be there for whatever reason people like to see it but the more important info would be more visible (who is who, currently you can see that when you enter the settings menu..)

NGL the idea of not wanting them removed sounds like that person wants an excuse to be toxic, not for "bragging rights". Like what are they bragging about? Playing the game more that month?

Remove grades (completely useless and 'only show playtime') = we need it for 'bragging rights'!!
Show MMR (actually the relevant stat) = that would be toxic and elitist!!

What is the logical reasoning behind it not being removed? The grade is no longer linked to skill.
