I just got tunneled and camped for 5 gens
But apparently I suck according to Patrick. I ran the killer for 3 gens around one loop the team got me off ran him for another gen and a half and he killed me.
Now I'm not throwing shade on the killer they did what they did I actually had fun because they were good chases on my end. I just find it funny they consider me a loser in that situation.

Did the other 3 teammates escape without ever seeing the killer? They're obviously the better players in this scenario /s
9 -
That was never the good play man, clearly you should have just not looped him, and drank an invisibility potion to escape to chase. Smh bad players always complaining. /s
2 -
Your objective is to escape, not run the killer for 5 gens. You made the choice not to focus on your individual objective and as a result, you did not complete your objective. So it's good that you had fun, but you simply had fun throwing your objective lol.
2 -
Your right I forgot to equip my cloak of invisibility it is all my fault.
2 -
Classic lmao
2 -
Ignore the devs it's almost evident now they don't playtest their game as much as they should.
1 -
Why do you care about your invisible rating?
2 -
He's just mocking Patrick about his answer to it, he's not complaining about anything.
2 -
Hahaha tnx, was the first thing that came to me when reading this 😂
1 -
I know there's an inside joke here, but will you explain it to me?
0 -
Looping isn’t skilful. Running through an exit gate is the only true measure of one’s ability.
6 -
Best thing is to watch back last Q&A about sbmm based on kills and escapes.
Short story, Patrick said someone who runs the killer for 5 gens end dies is zero skill while someone who does gens and escape is skill
2 -
Let's see it was a doctor and me and another player was found first. He chased me for 3 gens finally downed me camped me I got save(go team) then he proceeded to chase me for about 1 1/2 hooks and I died because he camped me. When was I supposed to do gens? Getting camped and tunneled isn't my problem it's that I lost because I didn't escape even though I took up 100% of the killers time .

I know I consider that a win for me but apparently to the devs I wasn't skilled enough to win.

I loop him on one loop for 3 gens I would say that takes skill. I'm not great at survivor so I take pride in pulling that off.

Of course looping is a skill. If it wasn't something that took skill, all chases would last about the same time regardless of who the killer was and what their skill level was. Clearly this isn't the case.
0 -
I'm a good example imo I'm ok at looping and I can sometimes pull off stuff like that but I'm not consistent. A skilled looper can consistently pull off great loops imo. And then there's Meg who pre drops every pallet no matter where the killer is.

I don't think it was this person's goal when they went in. What I understand is that, yes, the goal was to escape when the match started, the killer found them and chased them.
This player was skillful enough to run the killer for 3 gens and got hooked and camped for the remaining 2.
That's the point they're making.

A, thank you for summing that up for me!

For those who don't understand what the op is getting at, jump to 22:30 and just listen to his explanation.

If you want to see it, you can see the link and time stamp in my previous comment 😉✌️

Actually I got unhooked and ran him for another gen and 1/2ish. But I left my cloak of invisibility in the lobby so it was my bad.

Oi, thanks!

That's even worse...
Definitely not skill and 100% on you 🤦🏻♀️
🤣

So now you can write a forum post about it or just move on and start a new match.
Yes, in this corner case the MMR calculator though that you lost. You have to look at the result of many matches, not just pick this outlier case.

MMR is about averages, not exceptions. Yeah, you can get unlucky and get tunneled out. But on average if you're capable of looping someone for 5 minutes then you're also capable of escaping more than the average player so your MMR will go up. It's obviously not true that you don't escape most of the time if you're that good a survivor so your MMR is going to reflect that.

I stopped caring about escaping as surv. I missed protecting teammates and sacrificing for others so that is what I'm doing now. Funny thing is some of the randoms do it too.
My escape rate went down ofc but my teammates are still doing objectives so it's all good.
If I drop down so low I start getting completely clueless teammates, I can always put my selfish pants and climb up but I think mmr is really weird. For me everything depends on the time of the day I play. Just like before.
2 -
Your job isn't to take up 100% of the killer's time. It's to escape. I know the community may not like what I'm about to say but here's the truth of the matter: If you want to win and/or want your performance credited to you, you have to play and think about the game as a 1v1. If you don't care about winning or MMR, then the end result doesn't matter anyway.
1 -
I completely understand the point that is being made, but my point is that it doesn't matter. The "win" condition for survivors is escaping. If you don't escape, you don't get credit. I'm not saying they have to like this, I'm saying that's how it is. Running the killer for 5 gens may be fun and that's great, but the game doesn't care about this. If you are doing things for fun, the end result/MMR doesn't matter anyway. If you are playing to win, then you have to play the game as a 1v1 with a focus on your individual objective (escape as survivor, kill survivor as killer).

The SBMM system was supposed to be skill based, and they chose to exclude skill-based factors. The fact that the devs made escapes and kills the "win" condition is the problem, so saying that people are not meeting the win condition shows a complete lack of understanding of what people have a problem with.
1 -
No offense intended, but you did die to a killer that you admit is pretty mediocre. The mmr adjustment seems warranted.
0 -
Why would I think of a 4v1 as a 1v1. Someone has to take up the killers time or they have to be afk.
0 -
Only because he chose to give me all his attention. You are also saying because I didn't escape I'm not skilled?
0 -
Because MMR is based on a 1v1 not team performance (just your ability to escape or kill individually). This is one of the flaws with the system that people complain about.
0 -
This the dumbest crap I've ever heard. Is she supposed to hide in a locker al game?
1 -
Wait.... he said those exact words???
0 -
At this point I don't even care if I win or lose. I just want to do something cool before I die, like get a flashlight save, make a chase last 2 minutes, or sabo a hook at the perfect spot.
0 -
Pretty much
Here's the exact quote
"If a skilled play doesn't lead to you escaping then was it really a skilled play at all"
0 -
According to the people who developed this game, yes that's an option. They have told you in no uncertain terms that a survivor's objective is to escape and a killer's objective is to kill. How you get there does not matter when it comes to MMR. We can make up rules about skill this and skill that but does that change the system that is currently in place? Nope. No one is saying you have to like the system.
0 -
Well we have confirmed that escaping or being sacrificied doesnt matter at all, therefore your way of doing things is the correct one
0 -
This is so embarrassing for that killer.
0 -
Did you die?
0 -
I think everyone here knows what the system is. This topic was likely created to discuss why the system is stupid. You're arguing something else entirely.
0 -
Dude, it's NOT in his control what the killer does. The killer wanted to tunnel him, ######### else was he supposed to do? Even if the team took agro, that won't change the killers mind to tunnel him. Yeah sure go work on a Gen while the killer chooses to tunnel

This is what I did as well.
Unfortunately, my teammates did get pretty bad, so I've ben sweating again.
But, I'm trying to find some middle ground.
1 -
I feel you. Time of the day can affect "quality" of the teammates too so be aware of that btw.
1 -
I have noticed that, as well as killer.
I played into the evening the other day, and as the night wore on, I was getting newer killer.
Usually play in afternoons, and I tend to get a lot of sweaty games.

Yikes

In the ideal world, he should run to where the rest of the team is and force them to take hits. Think about himself. His escape is all that matters.
