Survivor insults and harassment toward killer should be BANNED

Insults and harassment are just fine according to BHVR. It's not toxic, just 'part of the game' and 'inevitable in online multiplayer'. If some magical force makes it 'inevitable', there's no need for moderation! It's a miracle!
They don't care about their toxic community, they encourage it and always will.

🔇 mute chat by default and have it be an opt in. There fixed your problem. Manually tick the chat option to opt out is the wrong way round.

I love end game chat. Good or bad I say bring it on!!
0 -
The issue with that is, after 8000 hours in this game, it's far more common coming from survivors in my experience.
2 -
When did they say that ? Because I am going to uninstall asap if it’s true (for the sake of my mental health).
0 -
Survs can’t do anything against people like you, and it’s frustrating. Yes, they shouldn’t say these things, but if you want to ruin their time, what do you expect?
3 -
First of all this is an issue on both sides, if someone is overly toxic, uses racial slurs, death threats, etc. Just report them. That's all you can at the moment. Another way how to avoid all of this is to turn off your chat, you're not forced in any way to use chat. If people insult you a lot and you feel offended, just don't use it, it's simple. Also if you seek admiration from other players in this game, I have bad news for you..
Second point, if you excessively target one player in multiple matches, be it facecamping, tunneling, it's considered as a griefing, which is also reportable offense. It depends on what kind of bodyblock you have on your mind, if you block someone in the corner, taking them hostage, it's also a bannable offense.
2 -
I don't seek admiration, I just don't want survivors to stop threaten me and my family. Also I don't display survivor names on in HUD.
2 -
Rude behavior from survivors is more common than rude behavior from killers just because of numbers. There's more survivors, there's 4 of them in a game etc etc. It happens both sides but it's more common to recieve as a killer. I have almost never been griefed, attacked, told to kill myself, insulted or anything like that as a survivor. Worst I get is bled out and that has happened like twice in the past 6 months. As a killer it's so bad that you are essentially forced to disable chat (which should just start disabled then) and the abuse is also common through out the entire game, not just post game.
Not sure why you think people seek admiration because they don't want to be attacked? That's really weird.
5 -
They are not, I still find the same person who told me to kill myself in chat, even when the other 3 randoms said that they reported them because it is just a game.
1 -
They are (or at least they used to be), but it's not permanent. I remember someone getting suspended a few years ago for making some off color remarks when we were in chat. Next time I saw him, he said he was banned for BS and laughed about it.. and he still talked ######### in endgame chat.
If BHVR's system is like most other online games, offenders are given multiple chances.

The whole spectrum of wishing harm to somebody ('s family) should be an hard ban of several weeks at the very least.
Any other kind of comment is to be ignored.
1 -
I generally close all chats. But one day I opened it and saw that my teammate wishes me death 2 times because I didn't unhook them in the EGC. Tbh, I was not offended, but funny.
I really don't understand why they do it.
If I were these people who insulted you I'd write to you: "I hope you get tunnelled in your every game ❤️" or "Dear killer, I wish you get 4 SWF tryhards in your every game <3". I usually imagine killers and survivors as bots, but I also have bad days. You have the right to use dirty tactics, but other players have the right to say unpleasant things to you within the limits of what is permitted. If they upset you, close your chat and profile.
Btw, there are people who like salt. You can begin to enjoy ruining someone's game and collect salty massages. Why not? :)
1 -
Because I am not trying to ruin anyone game. I am simply playing the game. I am not here to collect any salt, just trying to win and do my objective as killer : kill the survivors.
The truth is : survivors hate loosing. They are 3 main strategies in DBD :
- Hit multiples survivors to get many people injured and try to get downs fast enough so they don’t have time to rescue, heal and do generators at the sale time : this strategy is dead since the introduction of circle of healing. Now that any survivor can heal himself, you don’t have enough pressure.
- Gen regression : again, with the introduction of circle of healing your totems will be cleansed extremely fast again good survivors. It’s not working anymore.
- Snowball with starstruck : this strategy is strong on nurse, trying to get everyone exposed and down them all. But it is very stressful after a while because messing up 1 starstruck can be the difference between winning and loosing.
- Endgame : with no way out + noed. This strategy is to tunnel 1 survivor and kill him fast. This guarantee at least 2k, and more if you can kill someone else before end game or if they fail to hide during no way out.
See all I am doing is evaluating my options and trying to win. I don’t have to receive insults or death threats for it, I am just playing the game. The goal of the killer is to kill the survivors, not babysit them and give a great time for everyone.

Players can use any tactics, but they need to be prepared for the fact that people will be unhappy. And they can express their anger in an aggressive way. If insults affect your mental health, just close the chat and profile. This is fine. Private settings will save your nerve cells. I do it. It works! Really.
2 -
A lot of American/English/Aussie culture is banter. That's just our culture. It's also kind of odd to expect cordial conversation when you've played in a way other plays don't necessarily enjoy. If you're gonna play like that you probably want to close the chat.

If you're on steam and their on steam, they will be perma banned if you report them via the form and in-game. Check their profile(s) a few days later and you will see a game ban on their profile.
Source: I reported someone a few days ago that said they'd be "pleased" if I offed my self. Their 3000 hours of progress is now... gone! All because they lost a game and had to type a few inappropriate words. Be nice, guys.
2 -
This is s not OK. This person acted disgustingly and has no right to write these words.
You have 2 ways. You can report them. Or you can close the chat and profile and don't read this trash.
Just click on this icon in the endgame chat.

when me and my friends vs each other in games we constantly trash talk each other, teams in football, rugby etc always talk trash to each other, it's always been part of vs games.

It's your whataboutism for me...
1 -
That…..isn’t whataboutism. Try again.

This is true. I’ve never in 2 years have gotten a gg from a killer. Just harassment.
1 -
They were still playing 3 days in a row and being matched against me, so I doubt they got banned.

Another game with BBQ, Pain Resonance, Noed, No way out. Same strat tunnel someone and kill the rest with no way out / noed. They didn't last more than 3gen left. Also I forgot to mori anyone but it doesn't matter because it seems I should DIE because I have a gay flag on my hooks and I play nurse and blight. Yes, death is what I deserve it seems. Thanks DBD for your awesome moderation.

Lol its as simple as turning the chat off why read it if you dont like what they say? Its a VS enviroment your bound to make some enemies along the way. Thick skin is often needed in life and asking for players to be banned doesnt solve the real issue. Which if you havent gotten it is you as this is a mature rated game its bound to have some mature language from its audience.
2 -
Sure, if you are gay turn off chat and let the homophobic players own the place.
1 -
Looki live near west hollywood so ive seen the love and hatred often in its extremes. Please dont take my point as advocating it just that you are bound to stir up more trouble by asking for bans. Let me apologize for you being hurt it wasnt my intention for to dismiss that. Its just that when you typically silence these type of players you only end up infuriating them all the more and their attacks escalate the situation. So again my apologies i didnt mean to come off the wrong way.

Well, take Overwatch for example. If you are saying these kind of thing you will get reported and then if that's very often, you will have a first warning within 24h, then a season ban, then after multiple season bans a permanent ban. The result is that voicechat and textchat are very clean, when people are mad they leave textchat or voicechat.
Dead by Daylight is the only game where I see this kind of hatred speech. I am all for freedom of speech, but not in a video game where you little brother of 14 yo can play (despite the game being 18+, some do) and be exposed to this. As long as it is that common (because trust me, it is 1/2 game minimum I get death wishes) I will ask for a change.
1 -
Do you get season bans for that? It's been a while since I kept up with those things. I remember they did just flat out gag you if you were reported for abusive chat enough times.
0 -
In OW yes you will end up banned if you trashtalk. Even in 2022 I spoke with a "smurf" who had to create a new account to be able to play the game over a permanent ban.
0 -
I do get it as it can often breed hatred in the younger audience without them realizing it and then it manafests without any warning so i get that. The difference with overwatch tho now is that blizzard had that massive drama going on with their company so they needed to save face asap. This game is not nearly as bad as ive seen WoW be in the past with p0rnshire but the hatred will always exist and you will only amplify it more by banning imo.

Wishing cancer because I don't follow the survivor rulebook let's go.
2 -
It's possible that they didn't get banned right away since devs have said before that they're swamped with reports. Maybe they got banned the 4th day, or the 14th day. *shrug*
1 -
There's a lot of things in the game that should be bannable offenses and many are, the problem is that they just have such an ineffectual report system that it doesn't matter
0 -
Murgleïs just kjs -j+y its maybe the best way dud lets be realistic the devs like other people be insulted by cheat otherwise chat was not there right??
0 -
Simply don't look at the end game chat and turn off steam profile comments.
2 -
That could be it yeah, not wrong.
0 -
First and foremost; in no way do I think wishing death, cancer, telling someone to kill themselves etc is acceptable. That's totally crossing the line.
That being said, you should expect a bit of sass for your play style. Even though camping/tunneling is technically not against the rules, it's incredibly annoying for a survivor to wait 10 minutes for a match only to be immediately tunneled out of the game. It's such a waste of time for them that it's natural they be irritated. To have the Killer then go "Victor was hungry" could be seen as adding salt to the wounds of a person who could only spectate an entire match who didn't get to play at all.
In your screenshots I dare say you seem to be baiting their frustration, then wondering why their messages get increasingly toxic.
I think the best way to avoid the ones taking it too far would be to either disable end game chat\ or at the very least don't engage them. It doesn't solve the greater problem, but at the very least, you don't have to see it anymore.

Trolling?
0 -
Report and move on or close the chat? This is pretty normal in every single pvp game nowadays. I like the instant feedback report in league tho so maybe the devs should do that.
2 -
All insults and harassment should be banned. Why make this a one side vs the other side type post?
7 -
You see it more often with one role than the other but I agree that both need to be accountable for this
2 -
It's not trolling

Why are you singling out survivors? Killers do it too.
4 -
I already answered this two times :
- I said no one deserves to be treated this way, including survivors
- I said I am talking about the killer experience because I play killer the majority of my time but if you have something to share about the survivor experience you are welcome to do it.
I said Victor was hungry because I was playing Twins. By the way in this game I did not tunneled only used Victor as bodyguard of the basement. But this strategy is already too much for them to handle and led to a mental breakdown when they wish cancer to strangers on the internet I guess.
Tunneling is fun because it means you are always chasing. I don’t want to play a gen patrolling simulator. I would rather have a game where I am chasing for 90% of the time and get only 1 kill than a game where I am chasing for 40% of the time patrolling 60% of the time and get 4k.
It seems that survivors that gen rush when a teamate is getting tunneled, wait for the whole end game collapse time at the gates for the killer to show up (I don’t ever show up, I break stuff instead) and then escape feel frustration and bitterness because they realize how boring it was to hold m1on a gen and not getting chased. DBD is about chasing / getting chase, so if you choose to hold m1 all game instead of saying hello to the killer it’s your choice, don’t unleash your frustration on the killer.

Now I'm sure this post is a bait. Damn I got it :)

You literally brought up survivors. How's that not a "what about survivors"? Or is it more like a "also" instead of a whatabout. If that makes sense?
1 -
You should still be more clear in your title.

Sorry for the delay was busy, you clearly didn’t read my comment though lol
