Today Has Been One Of The Most Miserable DbD Days In Recent Memory.
8 games thus far.
2 were against 1500+ hour squads. Either there are a lot of survivors right now or something is badly off with SBMM. I got absolutely curb stomped, like 1-2 hooks every game.
2 were against bully squads abusing the new boil over to take the game hostage on Eyrie and RPD respectively.
2 had multiple people DCing within the first minute of the game.
Then I realize that the event is tuned so that survivors will easily exceed the killer's BP gains, even in games where the killer wins.
Yeah...this event is off to a smashing start.

That sucks! Hopefully, you get better games. I've been busy, so I haven't played yet. Wish me luck 😆

My first game after 2 weekish break I was slugged until bleed out at start of the game. Foolishly decided to play a solo game while waiting for my SWF teammate to see what event was like. Bad chase and went down under a hook so wasn't like I would've wiggled free. The Oni slugged me for 2 minutes then went and downed a teammate who got picked up by the other teammates immediately. Oni came back for me, let me wiggle free only to down and slug me again. Downed another teammate, again picked up by the other teammates immediately. I bled out without getting picked up. Before I died teammates had completed one gen together then just didn't do anything on opposite end of map. When I spectated the Oni was farming with the remaining 3. I hadn't done anything to be slugged until bleed out, wasn't like I looped him well and gens were popping. Didn't do anything to even possibly grief my teammates, never actually came in contact with them.
Told my SWF teammate I'll see how it is playing with him but if another bad match like that happens I'm going back on my break from DBD because the event isn't worth me wasting my time if killers/teammates are going to play like that.

been abusing boil over in a swf all day, very fun.
people say it's not a big deal because nobody runs it, but...that doesn't stop YOU from running it and ruining a match for a killer.
but hey man, I'm having a good time. i don't mind at all.
edit: i'd like to clarify that i think it's stupid and was an awful change that's very unhealthy, but me "not minding it" is because i'm enjoying using it. i guarantee you that once I play killer, i'm going to hate it. i'm not gonna fault players for using it, though, I'll fault the devs, just like everything else in this game that's BS.

People like you are legit making this game worse for everyone. Just...don't be a massive bully. Is that really so difficult?

its best to go afk. If they report you, no problem! It will be just flagged and they most likely will not record it and fill the report form

i can confirm, boil over when a friend has breakout is really, really fun to use. probably not to face- i wouldn't know, pyramid head- but we're a 2man so theres plenty of ways around it. havent gone the full 5 miles by also whacking on rpd, exponential, and soul guard either- he's just running sabo for the memes (not exclusive to boil over having changed, he just likes sabo) and im using my normal build with boil over tech'd in.

SBMM and the last patches are the worse things that happened to DBD.
Broken perks and validations that ######### the killers and force them to tunnel, camp, etc.
SBMM that ######### soloQ players. I played 10 games today for the event rewards and i could escape only 2 times because my team has always the IQ of a Lemming.
Meanwhile the only players allowed to have fun are SWF. This is the new dbd sadly.

stop blaming players, blame devs.
i'm using perks in a game. i think it's busted. i think it's dumb. but devs breed it and create it. it's not a player's fault for using perks, it's a dev's for making them when they've had many opportunities NOT to.
if i were going out of my way to BM or act toxic in endgame chat, that's a different story. then you can shame a player, because that's on a player's behavior, but that's not what I'm doing. simply using boil over in a swf is not bullying, it's just abusing awful perk design.

So... Just like any other event?

Blame the devs and not the people who are taking advantage of the broken maps. The devs know about these issues but still refuse to fix the maps, citing the need for “more data”. It makes me believe that they intentionally want to have more broken things in the game for SWF squads to abuse so that they keep having fun and playing the game. Killer experience be damned
5 -
Agreed. I think survivors are overturned and it gets worse with each update, however I’m still going to have fun using Boil Over with hook offerings and anti slugging perks, just as I use CoH with a rainbow map for free wins.
2 -
My games all had killers who tunneled at 5 gens except for one match with Mr Baldy. He spread the hooks but moried all of us.
1 -
You know it's busted and that it's awful and unpleasant to be on the receiving end of, and you're still choosing to do it for your own amusement. I can blame both the devs for failing to heed the warnings and you for propagating an absolutely miserable in-game experience when you could just be playing normally and, y'know, not abusing exploits that got left in.
There's a difference between something like Dead Hard being unpleasant to play against but powerful and with an undeniable utility that survivors are obviously going to flock to, and something like Boil Over trolling that doesn't even have a pretense of following normal gameplay.
3 -
yup, same here. first it was COH abuse, now it's this too.
survivor is so damn easy if you have actual gamesense and a friend to play with. people just don't have gamesense, so this kind of ######### flies.
out of the past 30 games I've played, I've lost maybe 5. some are due to bad matchmaking putting me up against inexperienced killers, but a lot of them are just entirely because of all the ######### you can use to win for free right now.

Boil over is one of the many, many examples of how out of touch the Devs are with their own game, the fact they could not foresee the issues with certain maps and how people would troll with the new boil over is honestly shocking. This coupled with the QnA and how BHVR seems to handle criticism make me very concerned.
1 -
When you are going out of your way to abuse something, to the point you seem mildly ashamed of it - that blame is on both you and the devs.
Otherwise, it wouldn't be as much of a problem.
3 -
It's not an exploit, it's a perk buff that I am going to use because it's in the game as an intentional feature.
The more people abuse it, the most posts there are about it, the more stats there are, and the quicker devs do something about it. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy my time doing it because it is an intended feature.
Also, it does follow normal gameplay until you get to the madness of RPD library, which is GENUINE abuse (I overused the "abuse" word way too much, don't think that's what I've been doing). Me going up to Asylum's main building with Flip Flop and Boil Over and hitting all the great wiggle skillchecks is me getting value out of my perks. Of course that's frustrating to face as killer because I'm getting an escape because of perks, but it's not something that I'm not gonna use because it's frustrating a killer for it being a useful build.
RPD library is pure torment, though. That's something that is literally only for making other people miserable because you don't even get an escape out of it. More normal use of it IS going to get you an escape, and that's what I've been doing save for the first 2 games I tried it just to see how insane it was.

If you browse twitch between like the mid level of viewers, and least level of viewers. It seems there is a stigma for a lot of the returning players that they are choosing not to play Killer, and playing on SWF/Survivor for the event, because it is less stressful, or because they are playing/returning with friends.

I think I overused "abuse" too much. I only used that word to emphasize how stupid it is.
If you're thinking I'm going to RPD every single game just to eventually die but make a killer miserable for 15 minutes, no. I'm just using it on random maps with sabo/slug builds with a friend. I think it's stupid that I can run up to Dead Dawg/Asylum/Mother's Dwelling/etc's main building and get a free breakout, but I'm getting value out of my new perk that's going to help me escape from the match. My goal is not to MAKE a killer miserable, but it's to get value out of this dumb perk. In the process, that frustrates a killer, but what good perk or power in this game doesn't frustrate the other side because of how effective it is?
As I said, I'd understand what you're saying if I was going to RPD every game just to torment a killer, but I'm not. I don't feel shame out of it because of that. I'm not BMing or saying gross things to killers afterwards. That's just being an ass. I'm literally just getting value out of this perk which I think qualifies as "abuse" because of how dumb it is. I said the same exact thing for COH which I've used for almost every game since its release and have gotten DISGUSTING value out of.

Well, take me for example. I’m highly vocal about how weak killers are and how OP survivors are, and I’m highly critical of the devs, but I still use broken ######### when playing survivor because it’s a video game, and one that really shouldn’t be taken seriously.
DBD is not competitive, it’ll never be balanced, the devs genuinely don’t understand it nor their precious data, it’s starved of basic features and QoL, so on so forth. We still don’t even have loadouts! Taking DBD seriously is just going to cause you undue stress.
I’ll continue to be vocal when I do post, however I still want to actually find some fun in this poorly managed mess of a game (that I only play while I wait for an alternative.)

😂😂
Mate, I’m guessing I’ve only around 600 hours as survivor and I’ve only lost a handful of games in solo queue with my CoH + map build. It’s a joke! But may as well try to find some level of fun in this game innit.
2 -
Hey, man, they are allowed to abuse whatever perks they like. Just be glad most people think these perks are bad. So it is quite rare to run into a rare specimen that understands the game well enough.
1 -
There's a difference between 'allowed to' and 'should'.
When what you are doing is actively designed to make the game unfun for other people, then it's probably something you shouldn't be doing, even if it's not against the rules.
1 -
I've had 1 game today...
My queues are insane....6-8 min for a solo game.

When you said abuse, I assumed you meant deliberately trolling with it. You did use the word abuse, after all. I'll agree that the only point of RCPD is pain and misery, and not doing that is several steps above where I thought you were, but I still think that running into upstairs corners where you know the hooks are too far away with the free 25% progress whenever you have a chase is knowingly abusing an exploit. I don't see that any differently than I do survivors crawling into zones where the killer can't pick them up. It's a competitive advantage, but it's also nakedly unfair. Add in that you're in a SWF and I have to assume they're helping bodyblock on top of this, if they're not all running it themselves, and yeah. I suppose that particular brand of karma will come for you when you next play killer.
I guess forcing the devs to look at it within 3 months instead of 6 is the best we can hope for. JFC, I'm learning to dread map offerings today.
I can't have fun with anything that I know is aggravating the other people playing the game unless I'm angry at the other people playing the game and aggravating them is the point.
I should edit that if people get aggravated by getting downed or outplayed, that's a them problem. But I think it's reasonable that people will get aggravated if they win four chases and can only get one hook out of them because survivors keep running towards 'I win' spots.

I came back myself after about a month or so of not really playing to try the event out. Loaded up spirit because I have about 50 envelopes on her from last year, for the cosmetics.
Never in my life have I been drowned in so much sweat. It got to the point where I just went into the match with the offering and went afk for the cosmetic only.
And now I'm back to not playing.
Congratulations BHVR, the game is insufferable.
3 -
Hope things improve for you. I've been fortunate to have not run into a Boil Over squad yet. Can't believe that perk went live.

there is a reason why i play max 2 hours a day and sometiems in day in between or a couple of days, the game is fun and adictive but at least i have total control and can leave the game for days, suggest you doing the same.

I tried a single match of Killer.
Not regretting my decision to leave, they've somehow made the experience worse.

The simple fact that the lunar event gives a...frankly insulting amount of BP on hook events (and these don't even work right half the time), while survivors get BP thrown at them, to the extent that I'm being outscored by 10k+ on games where I win is...honestly I'm not even sure how to take that except as a deliberate insult.
0 -
There really wasn't an objective reason to play Killer except for the better BP gain.
They've pretty much reversed that, so I'm interested to see how queue times look in a few days.
Considering that with the event, we peaked at only 45K players, I imagine it isn't good.
