Should streamers have some kind of protection in place?
When vs. cheaters?
In some multiplayer games, if a streamer encounters a “hacker” whilst live, they can often get said hacker banned within a small span of time.
Do you think we should have a similar system for DBD?
This isn’t about special treatment, but doing something more to fight back vs the cheating epidemic.
When cheaters target streamers, it gives them free advertising and makes more people consider trying it, especially when they see no consequence. They get the impression that they can get away with it.
Now I’m aware that if you provide video evidence, they’ll be dealt with, but If cheaters were to be banned live on stream, it would send a much better message.
Surely this wouldn’t be too difficult to set up. What more proof do you need than observing the cheating live?
Food for thought. Agree? Disagree?

Preferably, all players should be protected.

Agreed, and I don't even stream nor plan to.
But I see how it can be tough for them especially when people get obsessed and harass them on a daily basis.

This is an issue BHVR should have dealt with ages ago but for whatever reason, they seem to have zero desire to do anything about it. They have a reporting system that would have been considered archaic in the 90s and a game that somehow can't detect that a survivor being hooked 5,384,432 times in a match or a Hillbilly who can fly through the air like a plane is abnormal.
It's a joke and BHVR seems to have no interest in fixing it so *shrug*

You'd think that streamed video would be evidence of a cheat/hack, but that probably won't be the case.
I reported two hackers, went through the whole process of uploading video evidence and linking it in the report from post-game. A month later and neither video had any views at all. I don't bother to report hackers anymore, just move on to the next match.
It won't be addressed until it cuts into their revenue stream, so hacked skins and similar will be dealt with harshly. Hacked Perks and effects, not so much.

I agree with El_Gingero. It's not about offering special treatment to streamers, it's about using the streamer platform as a way to show that hackers are not tolerated within this game. It's important that cheaters are blocked whenever possible, but streamers should have an avenue to have that prioritized so that their viewers can see that cheating is not tolerated.

Honestly, when I've read the title my thought went to harassment and stream sniping in general.
And in that regard: DbD has a huge streaming support and viewer numbers other game could only dream of. It's kinda saddening, that the game doesn't provide much for them to protect themselfs from beeing targeted like other games, with much less of an audience.
But with insta-banning, I think that would sound good first, but it's hard to pull off. DbD has lots of streamers worldwide and stream during outsides of Behaviours working hours. You can't expect them to ban people during that time. Also it might cause a certain uncertainty. I remember, when a couple of years ago a streamer got people banned they faced, because they claimed that these people must have been cheating.
The playerbase was very vocal against giving streamers "so much" power. Honestly the current system makes more sense. I mean, people who cheat against a streamer already know that they will most likely banned for it. It's already calculated.
It makes more sense focusing improving anti-cheat in general and give players tools to protect themselfs from harassment.

It’s not about preferential treatment. As Konchok wrote, “it’s about it's using the streamer platform as a way to show that hackers are not tolerated within this game.”
I agree that all players should be protected, and banning “hackers” live on stream is a way to aid in that effort.

Well put.

That’s a good point. The way I see it is that if a streamer is targeted consistently, someone from the team that usually deals with this stuff can just hop over and take a look. Streamers with a larger platforms can be prioritised too.
I agree the optics aren’t perfect though. There will be people who take it the wrong way, but in reality it’s mutually beneficial.
People also need to bare in mind that it’s easier and more appealing for a cheater to target streamers on a consistent basis. These people play the game for a living and provide significant advertising for BHVR, yet they are specifically targeted because they are streamers and I think something needs to be in place to help with that.

If matches were automatically recorded, that would solve things. For one it would just BE a cool feature, if a crazy play happened you could save the replay, and if you suspected there was a cheater and reported them you could watch back the game from their perspective. See iff they used a perk the didn't have, see if they flew ect.
Match replays. Cool feature even if there was no hacking. Huge inconvenience to hacking.
If Dead by Daylight had this, hackers would be forced to be extremely subtle to not be caught.
