Trials need hard time limit
10 minutes into the match. Four survivors alive. 1 gen left. They refused to finish it.
Why don't the trials have hard time limits? Why am I stuck going AFK until they get bored, or eating a disconnect penalty?
Such garbage. I get penalized for "ruining the game for them" by disconnecting, when it's their fault!

I agree. The game should have a hard time limit of 20 or 30 minutes. There is no way a game of Dead By Daylight can take more than 19 minutes unless one side is actively refusing to do an objective.

I've had a few matches that took longer than 20 minutes to finish, with everyone actually doing their objectives. Very, very few of course, but they do happen. Get put into a game where everyone is new, and it becomes difficult to complete objectives, especially if the Killer is bad at chases and downing.
Having a hard time limit at higher MMR, definitely, but at lower MMRs with newer players it would be detrimental I think.

That would easily get abused. Just bodyblock a survivor in a corner and wait out the timer for maximum toxicity.

Yeah a 20min limit like F13 had would be sweet. Would solve a lot of bodyblocking issues too

20min minimum for me to kill a team + the time it takes to find, chase, and down them. Matches only go faster if they do the gens.

As long as a single survivor is not blocked the others can end the game. Also even if you pulled it off by preventing the game from ending then a timer would allow it to end. If it wasen't for a timer it would go untill someone disconnected. You say it would get abused when it's the solution to said abuse.

Actually, it does FIX bodyblock issues.
Because game can end, so there is no more taking the game hostage.

DBD has a unique experience where it's not burdened by time,and it would kill the immersion from the game.Also it's already a game where almost every second counts.Most great matches take roughly 22 to 30 minutes and those are the really good matches.
This falls into the category of having in game comms which is a really bad idea,people get really upset when some writes the kysl messages,someone psychically might be worst or racial slurs get thrown around no thanks.
It's just a video game not the end of the world because you we're blocked awhile just DC or go do something constructive in the meantime.

I think some time pressure on the survivors might be a decent thing, it'd put pressure on survivors rather than the current tactic where survivors boon in the corner of the map and get fully reset for free while the killer has to wait by the gens if they're on the last 1-2 (which is common due to how fast gens can fly).

Yes, it does fix the LONG games where they take the hostage. But it will indirectly cause a increase in bodyblocks because of the trial ending in lets say 25 minutes? How often do you really see someone taking a game hostage for hours? Minimal. There are players who are toxic enough who are willing to bodyblock someone for 25 minutes tho.

She refused to chase, so it took us 35 minutes to finish the game.

I mean, first is very hard get bodyblocked, second thanks to the EGC you can finish your objetive... and third the killer can't really bodyblock you, you have to get there first.

Things like this have been discussed - the whole timer issue, for a variety of reasons - survivors hiding and not doing anything, 3 gen Doctors etc. I don't believe a decision has been made on whether to implement one or not but it is something that has been discussed and the developers are aware that this can be an issue.

I’d be okay with it but the limit needs to be pretty high to ensure there aren’t cases where trials end prematurely with no hostage taking. I think 25 minutes would be pretty reasonable.

I feel like if nobody is downed or hooked, all survivors should receive AFK crows after a time if nobody touches a generator.

I don't understand why people have one or two bad matches and make a decision for the rest of us.You don't know any of these people in these matches so why does it matter just move on or take the doctor's add on that allows him to preform this adding a timer to a time pressed game is stifling.Will they slow gen speeds down? How are you supposed to finish a match if survivors are doing gens in 5 minutes?

That would actually be a good thing. But then you'd need to determine the good timer. I feel that 10 minutes is too short, but 20 is too long. Maybe 15 minutes would be balanced.

Here's a good example of holding the game hostage on the survivor's part, all the generators are done, but the survivors are hiding rather than attempting to open the doors.

Hostage Doctor absolutely exists and he is better at defending a three gen because he can sit in his 3 gen and constantly put people in madness 3 in addition to taking free hits while never leaving the three gen or actually trying to down survivors that dont give it to him for free. Typically a hostage doctor will use ruin and defend a 3 gen with their ruin in the center. Time spent healing and snapping out of it means that the gens regress more than they are able to repair and of course the doctor is defending his ruin as well
Altneratively they will use overcharge and unnerving and constantly kick gens and an unnerving overcharge skill check is actually difficult enough that survivors who aren't super experienced will actually miss them more often than they hit them, especially since doctor skill checks wiggle and can be not centered.
Ive personally played against a hostage doctor who lost 4 gens in like 3 minutes only to 3 gen the last 3 so hard that the match went on for another 30 minutes (during that time he only got like 3 hooks) and once that last gen finally got done he DCd (this was before DC penalties too). Needless to say I reported him and he was banned

Agree but the timer shouldn’t be visible until the last 10 mins. Also a good match is usually 20-25 mins so giving a generous 30 mins to play is fine.
the reason the timer should be invisible is that the fact that you can see a countdown adds psychological stress and anxiety reducing fun.
when the timer ends the endgame collapse begins, killing any survivor still in the trial by the end of it just like normal. So technically it would be a 30+ min game (whatever the end game collapse timer is).

Oh. I've done this before. Eventually the survs figure out how to hit overcharge unnerving skill checks and it loses it's potency. Or if you miss one dude with static blast, one time, you lose a lot of your stall. Mine was on yamaoka and I could see every gen from on top of the main structure. I was just trying to play a dumb build I thought it, didn't know it was a whole thing.
Game took about fifteen minutes. Pretty sure I won.

Without having watched the video, was this before EGC was introduced to the game? Because if not, flappy cap man could have opened the gate himself.

After 10-15 minutes, let a killer surrender. There’s no point locking them into a game they no longer want to participate in. As others have mentioned, especially due to the absurd amount of blatant cheating that BHVR seems pretty indifferent to.

I think rather than a hard time limit of 15 minutes, it should be something like if neither side scores any points for 5 or 10 minutes then the game goes into sudden death with endgame collapse or something similar. If points are being scored then it's still possibly worth letting the game continue even if it's been 15 minutes.

Yes, he could have opened the door, but it's kind of besides the point of the thread which is that there should be an automated way to have the game go into sudden death when there's a stalemate. The killer shouldn't have to open a door any more than the survivor should have to make themselves visible while they're waiting for the killer to make a move.
