Why is Toxicity ignored by developers?
Simple fact....This game is geared towards toxic play. Killers and survivors, who gave up trying to actually play the game, and just and use every overpowered perk and trick to tunnel and harass others until people rage quit to get away from the game. Developers you need to nerf overpowered killers. You also need to even the field, not give advantages. Make the game equal. Just because there are 4 survivors doesn't mean you need to overpower a killer, or there perks, to compensate. Nor do you need to give perks and abilities to survivors that make playing killer irritating. Simply put, even the field. Take away speed advantages. Give better offensive perks to survivors. Take away unfair advantages from both groups. This game used to be fun to play single or as a group. Now it's so toxic that you are losing players. Fix this game. Bottom line.

Well, the problem is that they do not consider gameplay to be toxic.
12 -
I agree. If they spent any time playing the game with the rest of us, they would understand. But since it's about the money, who cares right?
2 -
They think griefing and toxicity is an important part of the gaming experience.
2 -
Yeah exactly. They don't 'ignore' toxicity - they openly support it and always will.
7 -
And rightfully so. Playing and trying to win a game should never be considered toxic. The word toxic has lost all meaning.
18 -
I mean... You can put the blame of many things going on bhvr but... Let's face it, they can't control how people act. What are they supposed to do?

There is no such thing as a toxic play style unless it’s being done for the specific purpose of trying to upset others. Trying to win is not toxic. Using the tools you are given in a game the ways they’re supposed to be used to try and win is not toxic.
There are no overpowered killers basekit currently. There are some problematic add-ons but that’s about it. Survivors are not meant to be offense-oriented. That is specifically why all offensive options are limited to map situational/consumable such as pallets, Flashbangs, limited situational perks like DS, etc. There are very few problematic perks on either side.
Reducing something like tunneling would require a massive fundamental rework of the game.

What are your thoughts on afk Pig? Does that count as trying to win? Rofl.

The game welcomes it. It's open season.
There is a bully culture on DBD which is practised in many matches. It's 4 on 1.
And the situation is only spiced up by the ridiculous online streamer culture.
Remember the episode of South Park when Cartman keeps referring to himself as "Cartman Bruh"? That's your average SWF player.

Why do you think flashlight clicking and tbagging is still a thing? BHVR could easily get rid of it if they want to, but no, they even made the animations better (they said this about tbagging). Does it add any gameplay for survivors or is it just a tool for bming? Compare it to a killer, hitting a survivor on the hook. The difference is: That's actually gameplay, countered by Borrowed Time and doing gens.

What is your definition of toxicity?
5 -
Yeah, except every more or less popular streamer is a full time killer main (except Otz and Scott, who don't even play SWF). We had one legendary Canadian survivor main streamer back in the day, who also didn't play SWF, but BHVR cancelled him for some obscure reason, so he stopped making new content long ago. So I have no idea what "streamer culture" you are talking about in context of SWF toxicity.

A teabag is worth 1000 words.

Aside from extensively bodyblocking someone til they get crows, threatening people in the end game chat, and bringing Franklin's Demise, there isn't really anything in this game that is genuinely toxic behavior.
0 -
They don't consider anything short of hatespeech and legitimate threats to be toxic. In fact, they think that insults and being a jerk are sort of an integral part of online gaming.
It's not a stance I agree with, but it is what it is.
1 -
A lot of things mentioned as toxic are not in reality. What you think is toxic is highly subjective.
If everything was forbidden, banned, censored and what not as demanded her there would not be much game left.

Only one of those is an actual issue.
0 -
Ah yes, the franklin.

Ill be straight with you dbd is as toxic as a paddling pool of chlorine. You wanna see toxic go check out csgo, dota, etc. The fact of the matter is the sheer amount of resources required to curb bad behaviour is so expensive resource wise it would be better spent making the actual mechanics and gameplay of dbd more varied and interesting.
Getting harassed because your losing to your opponent is just your average ######### gamer energy nothing new. I advise closing chat permently whatever good comes of it is not worth the moaning and temper tantrums that permeate this post game chat.

Sorry wrong one

Ya but the line tends to get crossed when it switches to hate speech to do it. If your actively trying to piss someone off by making racist homophobic remarks just so you can tilt them thats easily a problem.
I picked an extreme example, but even just being rude post match just to put that player on tilt is scummy and well bad manners. I agree toxic certainly gets exagerrated in dbd but lets not pretend there arent people taking your mentality to far and dropping the n word and homophobic slurs just "to get in there heads". Its a strat bro is not ok. Gonna keep posting it but chat for killer and survivour should be opt in by default not opt out.

No it is that bad and the fact it has a lower player makes it even more of a problem. Quit sugar coating it by trying to excuse it cause it's still harassment and there are plenty of times people have been told to kill themselves thanks to how this community acts.

It has become the mentality of a large number of players and it is something that the developers can not change.
They can also see the definition of toxicity as something different from what we see it.
It's complicated and unfortunately probably unchangeable, until the players behave according to their age.

none of what you described is toxic.
Not winning is not a personal attack on your fun.
The word toxic is now just a buzz word used by this community to describe anything they don't like.
6 -
People will continue to leave because of poor balance, and also to avoid dealing with the pathetic behaviour of many players which the developers have decided to accept as 'inevitable'.

"Just because there are 4 survivors doesn't mean you need to overpower a killer, or there perks, to compensate."
LOL WHAT.
2 -
You're not going to get much response from them on toxicity when they have a shirt in the game with a target on it's back with F U Crew written above it.
I understand that it's based on a youtuber or twitch streamer but if that's not toxic then nothing is. it's telling a killer off and calling them trash with a cosmetic. so good luck getting anything changed on that front.
2 -
There's nothing "toxic" about what you've described. If you were to talk about post-game chat with people telling you to die, then I'd absolutely agree with you. Yet, this is just about how the game can be played and not liking it.
@pseudechis said it best about the word "toxic", and it's meaning has been all but watered down to describe when something isn't fun. Much more critical thinking is needed to be applied than the lazy response of "Yeah, I don't like it so must be toxic".
2 -
Toxicity is not the click of different buttons, swf, camping etc.
Toxicity is slurs, threats.
Omg, dbd community in a nutshell.

Is the problem that they do not concider gameplay to be toxic?
Or is the problem that we do concider gameplay to be toxic?
A conundrum for the ages
1 -
Because devs are adults and know not to be annoyed by flashlight clicking or Ctrl pressing.

Apparently fair play isn't considered the norm any more. Let me explain. When you were a child and played tag, how do you think you would have felt if the person who was it only chased you? Or if you were it and the people you were playing with just ran around you taunting you? Not much of a game huh? Perhaps toxic is the wrong word. When did we all decide it was ok to be a bully at anything? Yes some people will always game better than others. Yes some people will inadvertantly tunnel, or a new killer will camp. But eventually your skill at the game increases and there's no need for that anymore. Not only are you making the game untolerable, but it shows a lack of skill to do some of the actions you do. Body blocking someone is a strategy, body blocking them and repeatedly zaping them as the Doctor, or continualy vomiting on you is just being a child and bullying. Tunneling happens because as a new player your first instinct is to go with movement. Understood. Hell, it's a game dynamic because agin keying off movement is a good strategy. But standing in front of a hooked survivor continually hitting them, vomiting on them, and making it impossible for even the possibility of being unhooked is just bullying and shows absolutely no skill in gameplay. And I stand behind the statement that most every killer, base, is overpowered. And adding some of the perks makes them super powered. And pallet stuns that last 3-5 seconds doesn't make up for that. None of the offensive actions that a survivor takes is viable really. It very rarely works well. I also had a discussion with a killer main that asked me why I was complaining because if it were real world would couldn't ask the killer to stop tunneling. Agreed, but then again, in the real world you can actually take the killer out if possible. In the game you don't have that option. It's either black or white. The problem is that, as so many above have said, the game is geared towards being a haven for those people who are naturally bullies in real life. And it's even promoted in game for them to do so. I get asked all the time why I am a survivor main and rarely play killer. It's because I found the game completely over powered as a killer. Absolutely no challenge. Regardless if I got a 4k, it didn't matter. I raked in bloodpoints and ranked up incredibly fast. It's more challenging to play survivor because of that. I like the challenge. If I wanted to play a game that I could just go through and slaughter things I'd play Skyrim. And this is supposed to be a team game. You killer mains all know that not every player in match is an asshat. Yet you become bullies the second someone is toxic for lack of a better word. And you know that there's always going to be those players on both sides. Bottom line is, no one has to be that way. Killer or Survivor. You can choose to be a fair player. It's not that hard. I'm not saying don't play the role. I'm saying to be aware how you play and act accordingly to fix bad play. I just want to play an enjoyable game and DBD is no longer enjoyable for anyone. And if it is for you, you are part of the problem.
