Best 4th Perk for Pinhead?

Thinking of running:

Hex: Ruin

Hex: Pentinento

Hex: Plaything

.....

I have never played as him before so wondering how the box works as seen people say Hoarder/Franklings is good.

What other three perks are you running?

    Hex: Ruin

    Hex: Pentinento

    Hex: Plaything

I am thinking, I love that on Pig

Or could remove plaything and have Dead Man Switch, Pain Res?

If you wanna learn box spawn logic (and you do) forget hoarder/franklin they're overrated you want lethal pursuer or BBQ to get an idea of where the first box is or where the box might be after you hook someone.

It's usually away from everyone but farther away from you then the survivors.

    For example:

    1 2

    3 4

For example say those numbers represent the corners of the map and you spawn at 3 and survivors spawn at 1 the box will likely be around 2 somewhere. if you spawn at 1 and the survivors at 1and survivors at 4 it's harder to know but more likely 2 than 3 as 3 is closer to 1 than it is. This is the type of logic the box generally follows.

EDIT: The numbers were stretched out more when I was typing just imagine that makes a rectangle lol.

You'll want Agitation with that. PR is cool, but you can get RNGed and have it spawn 4 hooks in a part of the map you never go to.

If you're going in hard on hexes, I'd add Retribution or ToTT.

    Yeah.

Especially if they are running boons, this slows them down quite a bit.

I prefer Retribution on a lot of killers, but I always like being info-heavy.

BBQ is good on Pinhead. If you know where the survivors are on the map respective to yourself, you can get a feel for where the box will spawn.

Thank you, how does the box work? Does it respawn on hooking someone? What does the box itself allow you/survivors to do?

I used to use BBQ or LP to try to find the box, but I've found that often I spent a lot of time hunting for the thing when I should be pressuring elsewhere.

It probably comes down to playstyle.

What is the synergy with Hex: Retribution, I always thought it was pre TOTH where you got the notificiation

It It spawns beginning of the game and then respawns either 10 seconds after you pick it up or 30 if they try to solve it and you teleport or 45 seconds if they actually solve it and it will always spawn as far away from everyone as it can.

There's a 90 second timer around the survivor portraits when it fills up the chain hunt will start meaning random chains start harassing all 4 survivors which keeps them from doing much of anything and is how you create pressure mostly. They have to solve the box to keep the chain hunt from happening and if it gets solved it will reset the timer and stop the chain hunt. If you pick up the box however all 4 survivors will scream telling you where they are and a chain hunt begins instantly.

If you see a yellow circle around a survivor portrait that means they picked up the box and chains will only harass them instead of everyone and if you down that survivor before they can solve the box you automatically pick up the the box and start the chain hunt on everyone. Keep in mind when a survivor picks up the box they become oblivious and will hear a music box instead of your terror radius and if they start solving you'll get killer instinct telling you where they are. You should try to stop them with a chain if you're close and down them but if they're far away I would actually say teleporting isn't worth it most of the time unless they're injured.

Any time they cleanse a hex, you get to see everyone's auras for 10 seconds (a long time).

Oh, just realized you had Plaything on the list. Don't run Plaything if you have a lot of other hexes, there are only 5 dulls on the map at any time meaning that you won't actually get value.

Either Plaything+Penti or other hexes. Don't pair Plaything with other hexes generally, they have an anti-synergy.

Franklin’s Demise to knock the box out of their hands.

  • Member Posts: 121

Is he playable on console? Just played 1 game and couldn't hit anything with chains haha

I'm running Plaything, Pentimento, Franklin's and Oppression.

I like BBQ when a chain hunt's already started. Hook person, see where the aura is running to, get box, hook person, see where aura's going, hook person...

That was how I wound up hooking everyone at once the other week. They just couldn't leave the box alone. <_>

I enjoy BBQ too on him for this reason (the BP gain is basically needed too I find), but what often happens is that I'll go off on a wild goose chase because the box is actually above me or below me.

Survivors are also getting a lot smarter, solving the box in places where it'll cause you to teleport off a drop or behind a wall.
