You obviously messed up the situation of the unhook. By your story there was only one survivor unhooking, which makes it an quite easy hooktrade. But you failed.

It's the endgame though, just like killers have a good chance of getting a 4K, so should survivors have a fair chance of getting a 4-man escape.
I do agree that killer can feel pretty stressful. But I do not think the situation you described is really a problem. In general, the endgame is not something that is bad for killers. It's more the actual match; the fast gen times coupled with generally poor map design.

And which part of my reply did you not read? I wrote counters that work "during the game", not when it is already at the end.
If someone goes down with DS in an open exit gate you can't do anything, the survivor used their perks in a smart way to get out.

You said you chased the unhooked person for 20 seconds to counter BT, but also that your grab got cancelled into a hit on who was trying to save. So why didn't you just down the person who saved and forced the guy with DS out?

Alright, I've gone through all the replies since I went off for the night.
From what I gather, almost half of you guys tell me that everything is my fault and I should never go for the unhooked person. Them potentially having DS gives them a free card I have to respect, otherwise I get punished. Fair play doesn't matter.
The other almost half of you tell me to play scummy, that I shouldn't spread out hooks and tunnel DS out of the game quickly, ideally using a meta killer.
The rest agree that it's unfair, but that nothing can be done about it.
I'll leave it at this. I think it's honestly sad that restricting yourself to 2 killers and playing them sweaty seems to be the most common solution, and an accepted one at that. That's not how the game should be.
Thank you guys for the input. Just because I don't agree with most of your solutions, doesn't mean it wasn't appreciated. Another player in a similar situation might read them see them as something that will work for them. I'm just not that person.

They were shielded by a third survivor that was around. I had the choice between hitting Dwight once or hitting two other survivors a combined 3 times to get another down: with all of them running towards the open gate.
It's easy to look at this stuff in hindsight, but in the moment, I went for the first option.

It's your own standards. The poster you quoted there didn't say "End game is BS" either, but you rolled with your own generalization that fits well enough--while dodging their entire point--so you could chalk it up as smart players with solid perk choices making strong plays. Hypocritically, you're whining that winning is BS anytime the killer goes about it using strategy you don't like... even though that strategy is actually hand-in-hand with countering the otherwise un-counterable combination of plays you just validated as fair game by virtue of player choice and "coordinated" moves.
Anyhow, you're whining in the same sense as the OP... which is to say it's really just a cheap and vague insinuation to easily disparage and provoke people for expressing damn near any level of concern or restraint about damn near anything.

I really dont think survivors should have such impactful second chances. Like killer I get it's a 4v1 but for every survivor able to have a 3rd health state or just pick themselves up off the ground despite their team heavily ######### up is stupid.

The issue with this is that the survivor who has endurance and DS will typically get in your way so that you can't down the unhooker.
When you have a pack of survivors fleeing to the gates and the one in the backmost position has protection perks - either you've got an instadown/an AOE attack, or you've lost.

This is literally just not true, Swish had a tournament where nothing was banned at all and on average the matches got 2 kills, 2 escapes like 7-8 hooks a game. But killers were also bringing massively broken ######### like alchemist ring + crow and so on which not every killer has access to a version of.

ok jokes aside i think the best way to counter them is to deny the oppurtunity to use them
if you don't lunge that means no deadhard
if you run scourge hook gift of pain they will be punished for using deliverance
If you bring knock out they can't use unbreakable
if you bring save the best for last it helps you to hit the bt effected person
If you bring devour they never get the chance to stab you with ds cuz you gut them inside out before they can give you the poke poke

Unfortunately mate there are scenarios in this game where you can't win. If we saw what happened then we could maybe have spotted something to help you but sounds like you couldn't do anything.
On the survivor side there is another scenario you can't win, regardless of what you do. If the killer has No Way Out and the hatch is closed, it pretty much guaranteed death.

This is where experience as a killer comes into play.
You can straight up body block a single survivor from getting an unhook.
With two survivors, you block one and play for a grab on the other as long as you keep one of the survivors on your back and don't let them get between you and the second survivor. It's tricky, but you have to "feel" them behind you and keep them there, then try to time the grab or take the two hits. If you're a bit over extended, tag one of them as soon as they start to move in. Don't give them time to set up the blocks.
With three survivors, start hitting them immediately as they are moving in. You're not preventing the unhook if they're any good and have those numbers.
In any of the 3 scenarios, there's no reason to go for the tunnel when you can take a trade. If you don't have time to down any of them, you probably hooked too close to the gate and weren't proactive enough in tagging the survivors as they went for the unhook.
But prevention is the best medicine. Obviously things happen, but don't let yourself get into that situation in the first place if you can avoid it.
