Saw Amanda actor
Shawnee Smith said that she was bummed that she wasnt contacted about amanda being in dbd. Idk if anyone else cares but i think it would be awesome if we could get her likeness and voice in for the pig. I'm not talking full on voice lines but it would be awesome to have her in the game proper.
Not trying to discredit the work already done on pig because i think she implemented well.
edit: i wouldnt be against full voice lines either. There are some good one liners in saw

Whole characters portrayed in movies are a different beast from 'mere' VA's. To the best of my knowledge, the actor plays a character that they do not own. In the context of the license, that actor's likeness is not something they are 'free to share'.

You mean a member of staff at BHVR? Only very recently did they change this practice and they're currently hiring I believe metal musicians for the role if my web is to be believed.

they got Doug Bradley. If all parties were willing i can 100% see more original actors reprising their roles in dbd.

It would be pointless to go through the effort and money required to get licensing rights to a specific actress for a characater that doesn't speak or show their face.

Royalties are what would hurt their cost just to add at this point when amanda is mostly silent sure voices add character. Just remember the more money they spend on frivolous stuff in the game is less money they spend on a better network and bug fixes. Sure it costs money to make money its just a lil too late imo

There's nothing suggesting that was a one off. I think its more likely that they got removed because once Doug or whoever works with him caught wind of it they reached out, or behavior did once they realized he'd be open for it.

I dont think its to late. They are adding saw content right now. Which is why i brought it up in the first place.

They did hire metal vocalists for Leon, Jill and Nemesis, i believe the interview with them on youtube regarding that is still up.

You can't be serious. This is like people in Overwatch saying "if we get a battle pass the money will go to new heroes!".
Of course it won't. It goes toward buying Bobby Kotick a seventh yacht. Extra money gets burned via executive bonuses. Behavior Interactive is a huge, extremely profitable company. No amount of money is gonna change how they operate, it's simply not a priority.

Well, Saw at the time was considered to be finished(before it was picked up again), it was The Pig from the Saw games that was mainly contracted and they got the license to link Amanda to The Pig since it wouldnt matter too much.
It would be nice to have skins around Amanda Young having her own voicelines etc, however, cementing both into the game(because lets be honest, people would miss current Pig stun noises etc. Pin Head's voices were removed for legal reasons, but Pig's noises arent legally bound to Amanda's character.
So, why not both?

Yeah. Same happened with the actors of Quentin (Kyle Gallner) and Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis)
both said later on they were never asked and would have gladly been part of it. But at the time of the implementation, DbD was a much smaller game and it was probably in the financial interest of both sides (BHVR and license holder) to pay for the actors likeness. And apparently they wanted to stick to this for both of Laurie’s and Quentin’s reworks, even though the actors have explicitly publicly stated they would be glad to have their likeness in-game..

While I understand the actors being a bit disapointed they also have to understand royalties and licenses legal red tape, having expensive original actors dubbing some "ouch" "aw" and breathing sounds its a bit of a waste.
While you are right on this there is also another aspect, if Bobby Kotick doesnt get his new yacht by sales he may decide to slash the budget and get his yacht by saving money on development, more money may not go towards development (Im almost sure it wont) but may stop the suits from screwing with development. This actually happened on my company, we had a weak year, shareholders got the same money and suits their bonuses, the only thing that changed is the next year we had half the budget for maintenance and repairs and half the money for temporal workers to subsitute people getting ill (so if someone become ill for months the company didnt hire someone and we had to do overtime for wathever time the guy was out of work).

but apparently she did take part in a (charity) stream where she played DbD and she said she wouldn’t have minded or something?

The stream happened, but I can’t find more than this short clip atm.
will look into it later if I can find more on it or the source that said she would be for or against herself in the game…
