Silver 2, playing w/ 2 Bronze friends=Nonstop Iri 1 killers
I'm literally just trying to enjoy playing this game with my friends, 4 games in a row against Iri 1 killers.
This is understandably ridiculous, no further explanation needed.
Whatever MMR nonsense is happening is seriously making our playing experience sad and not fun

It's like they're trying to make us stop playing this game or something

inb4 "ranks don't mean anything"
Matchmaking is all ######### up. Not because it's not necessarily working but because the game itself is too ######### up.

This has been happening to me too. I bounce between ash and bronze and I'm not the best but I always go up against red rank 1 killers and then have one or two red rank 1 survivors I get paired up with and the rank 1 survivors kill themselves immediately on hook or DC and then the killers face camp like no joke this happened all day today and I finally just quit and went to play a different game.

Unfortunately you will need to adapt to the new way or just stop playing as it is pretty messed up atm. At least you and your friends get a taste of whats to come. I suggest you to play a custom game with a 5th friend that way you guys can have fun at your own pace

A few things need to be mentioned here: first, the grades are not used for matchmaking, as they, in theory, denote no skill.
Grades reset every month at the 13th from whatever lofty hight you got, backcto the lowest grade, ie Ash4.
Its just an incentive for players to play a lot, and the more you play, the more good games you'll get and rank up. You can't lower your grades anymore, you can lose pips within a grade, but don't go deeper. So in essence grades are just a marker of how much a player played since the last reset.
Indirectly it also denotes a certain skill: the more you play, the faster you will rank up, and while everyone can probably get to Gold 1 by just pumping in enough hours, to raise into and within the Iri ranks needs you to play consistently good well. Its easier to get to Killer Iri1, though then Survivor Iri1, because you have no potential teammates to pull you down or sabotage you.
In the past ranks were used for matchmaking, but todays grades are only there for bragging rights, even though people still confuse grades with skill.
That being said, todays killer population is much, much smaller then the survivor one. You see this especially with queue times in the evening, when survivors can queue for up to 20min,while killers get 15s instant ques.
And a smaller population also means that most killers are capable, or that there are more capable killers. So fix the killers QoL problems and you will dilute the high saturation of strong and very good killers.

Because the only killers that are still playing are the killers who play everyday and have reached Iri 1 by now.

Thanks for your response, I actually didn't know that the killer pool was like that right now. I know grade doesn't influence MMR, but it illustrates the big disparity happening...I'll guess we'll all start taking decisive and unbreakable every match...

I'm not iri 1 killer and I'm actually getting the opposite where I'm facing iri survivors like this was a match I had 4 days ago
And here's a second picture that also shows my actual killer rank atm
Also I've been getting iri killers that have me and my friend feeling like we was playing against bronzes

I'm so sorry that's happening to you!!! Omg that is insane. You'd think if there's a "Killer shortage"...that shouldn't be happening to you

Matchmaking is loose again. Maybe they tighten it up for Ringu chapter when new players come in. Idk.

GRADES DOES NOT IMPACT MATCHMAKING.
I cant Express this enough, your MMR is hidden and cant be seen. Your grades is simply a progression system for that month that awards BP on the 13th of each month which is also when its reset.

Can confirm,i'm a red rank killer with over 1k hours in the game and I keep getting matched wtih silver and bronze survivors with much less hours than me.

As stated in other posts after a certain amount of time the system just puts survivors in with any available killer and MMR is thrown out. So would you rather play a match or wait 30 minutes for a killer in your MMR? This is the result of a smaller killer population.

Grades don't mean anything, and it is a lot easier to get to IRI Grade 1 as a killer.

IRI Grade 1 only shows that a player played alot in that season. It's way more easier now to climb up the grades, as you can't go down in colors anymore. And as long ppl still calling them "ranks", ppl will be confused. There're NO RANKS anymore in DBD, get that out of your head.

Consider that it's nearly time for rank reset. That means a lot of people are iridescent rank right now, moreso than usual. It just means they've played a lot this month. It has some bearing on their skill, but it doesn't necessarily mean someone's good, just that they're at least adequate.

When grades reset and I go back to Ash IV, I don't all of the sudden start going against noobs and first time players.
Same when I get to Iri I, I don't all of sudden get pro sweat squads. Its the same all the way through. Because grades are not used for match making!

Another appeal to the devs, can we already hide lobby grades in the after game summary?
The only important one is each players own grade and showing them for all is a) outdated and b) misleading.

Why do you think rank = skill? It doesn't. It just means they played more that month than you.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. There should be some kind of indicator of what the MMR is. I'm not saying the exact number, but enough of a ball park to know if Match Making is making proper matches.
