I know grades don't matter but the killers I get have face pubstomp us as me and my friend are basically doing the gens while the others just down and farm off of eachother like if it's a decent killer me and my friend are basically ######### and force to just dipip

I'm pretty tired of my swf teammate and I basically being 2v1 thanks to the crappy kill/escape matchmaking. Atleast before the players that did nothing were mostly kept in low ranks, now they are in all levels ruining the experience for everyone. SBMM being kill/escape just encourages unfun gameplay.

It's not bad, just literally does not exists.

It does. It is just extremely loose at the moment. I tend to get higher level survivors on my Bubba than I do when I am messing around with... Well, anyone else, really.

Best part is that the more you die the worse it gets :)

I see you don't play hockey. Or else you would understand the arcane arts of escape=good, MMR ignoring values anyway for quicker matches. Sad!

people act like it was any better with emblem/rank based matchmaking…

but that one didn’t even do what it was supposed to do? Rainbow ranks were a common thing. And you have seen literally any skill level in red ranks anyways, even those urban evasion selfcare mates (thinking on this? I have actually seen almost none of these with SBMM).

MMR is faulty, but that’s mostly because it prioritizes faster lobby’s. The devs even talked about it in the streams that the system can accurately predict the outcome of a match, it’s just the match up that’s kinda not working - and it didn’t work before.

With RBMM I could happily play killers and go for 12 hooks consistently and enjoy my time as anyone that I played semi-consistently, which meant that when I faced the occasional sweat squad it wasn't so bad and I didn't mind cranking up the sweat to match.

Under MMR, Pyramid Head is currently unplayable and the killers I used to enjoy semi frequently are all dealing with Sweat Squads up the wazoo because I killed too many people while under RBMM, which has caused my MMR to be broken, and killer just becomes perpetually more and more unfun because if I play a character I like too much the games become too sweaty for me to find any joy.

RBMM wasn't good but I'd have it back in a heartbeat if it meant I could play a killer I enjoyed casually again. Because losing 14 games as Bubba in a row has yet to help.

Genuinely MMR ruined my enjoyment of the game (plus other changes). Why play if most matches are just the boring?

i really hope they're finally realizing it sucks, they just need a proper rank system and then make rules like "don't match with people more than +/- 4 of your rank", it will not be perfect but a system which is purely based on escapes/kills is worse.

But why go back to a bad system just because the current system isn’t good? Like… you can’t really improve Rank based matchmaking while MMR (or a complete new/different system) could try to make it better. And there are evidently people having a better time now than before.

i had a really bad time with RBMM, and so did a big part of the community, it may be my biased view, but those forum complaints about bad matchmakings and blaming rainbow ranks etc were way more common with RBMM. It’s not like it’s working perfectly for me with MMR, and for killers it still feels pretty much random/depending on time of day/week which kind of survs I get matched against. But RBMM wouldn’t solve anything at all.

i would rather see them finally addressing overall balance problems while making healthy adjustments for MMR like the stuff with the refill lobby’s.

Honestly I'd rather they start over with something new but having seem them do just that with MMR and this is the result my hopes for ever having fun functional MM that actually makes me excited to play the game are less than 0.

    Same.

and looking at the time they needed to implement a simple kill/escape match making system that doesn’t even handle lobby’s where a player leaves correctly… I guess asking for a new MM system is not wise. At all.

I just don’t see why some people act like matchmaking worked fine with RBMM. It was awful. It’s still awful. But.. at least we now have grade rewards?

Don't forget, it took BHVR way over two years of collecting data, running tests, more data, ptb's, even more data, data and stats to come up with the current system.

How many decades would they need to come up with something new ;) especially one with more than two variables?

Rank based matchmaking was way better at least i was able to play different killers, since sbmm came out i can't play killer anymore, and when i do, exclusively for challenges because i don't like to torture myself, i just get them done and go afk and watch YouTube to lower it at the same time.

Survivor side is a blight/nurse simulator.

The fact that i can't play killer anymore and that I'm always facing the same 2 killers as survivor made me change my playtime routine from (according to steam) 80h last two weeks to 10h.

Sometimes i wonder if I'm the only one that doesn't enjoy sbmm but then I look at the forum and is always full of complaints, to not mention the drop of players of steamchart

I really hope they realize their mistake and it gets deleted asap

It would be nicer if they just showed us our MMR privately, so we have an idea of what we should be matched against.

What should also happen is if, the matchmaking fails to put you with similar MMR levels, it should state such on a message. Something like: “MMR has been disabled for this match, due to not enough players”

Better yet, bring back SWF icons to show who’s in a co-ordinated duo or 4 man.

I feel like I'm playing a different game than you, MMR literally doesn't work and that makes my matches more random and fun.

I disagree with the notion that Grades don’t represent skill, only time played. Yes, it’s a little easier to pip your grade now then it was to pip your rank in the old system, but cmon- pay attention to your teammates grades in the post game. Generally, that rusty Ashe IV plays like 🐕 💩 and the Iri Grade “I” knows what the hell they’re doing- ESPECIALLY when it comes to killers. Survivors can have a skill gap at times and you wonder how they managed to get their Grade to a high level, but for the most part their grade reflects how well they played. Especially now since its the 11th and the Grades are going to reset. I’m sorry, but if you’re a ragequitting Silver II or a Gold IV pulling players off hooks while in chase, that just tells me Grades do reflect skill. Just like the Iri I who ran the killer for 3 gens, got both him and the hooked survivor out of basement alone, against a camping Billy. It’s just common sense. Go by your experience. Don’t take the devs words literally. Especially when those same devs give bad hockey analogies.

As for killers? Nine times out of 10 you can call them out as being Iri Grade 1 and sure enough they are. Now for the Gold III’s who stomp you and your team, you know they don’t play often. Cause if they did, they too would be Iri Grade I.

OP is right. MMR is trash and gives you crappy teammates that you have to be selfish and leave behind so you can escape and raise your MMR in hopes to get better teammates.

Everything I said above is not always 100% the case, there are some really bad Iri 1’s, and some really good Ash IV’s. I’m just saying look at the whole picture based on your playtime, and you’ll see the higher the grade- the better the person plays (for the most part).

According to the devs, you're in the right MMR. B/c if you die, are you really that skilled? ...

But seriously, solo Q is a death spiral for survivor MMR. I guess that's a reason they want to make BT basekit and provide icons showing what each survivor is doing( practically basekit kindred).
