Fan Killer & Survivor: A study in victimology
New KILLER - The Impostor
Appearance: A towering figure, clad in black robes reminiscent of the Grim Reaper with a white mask depicting horror and sadness.
Weapon: Knife
Name: Kenny Blake
“Psychology/Sociology major college student Kenny ran his experiments on human response to extreme conditions and stressful dangerous situations. Together with his brother Manny he worked on their thesis on killer’s victim’s psychology and social response. Their thesis was laughed away, Kenny had to repeat a year and was dubbed ‘That weird guy who likes playing the role of the killer’. During the graduation party for other students, Kenny was shunned and ridiculed. He decided that the research wasn’t authentic enough - for true response the danger had to be real. That night six people were stabbed to death. That brought some great results but was not nearly enough to warrant a large enough selection for a true thesis - Kenny needed at least a hundred.”
Game name: The Impostor
“He is here to be your friend, to hide with you, to grieve with you, to face hardships with you, to WATCH you - all until you feel a knife in your back. No, you wouldn’t be fooled by him, would you - you know your friends all too well. But do they know YOU enough? Because HE does.”
Power: “One of you”
“Watching you, learning your voice, your gait, your quirks, he learns you like a book - you are the story he will recite to your friends.”
Stalking survivors or interacting with them (hitting, grabbing) fills up your “Insight” gauge. 100% gauge gives you an Impostor token and resets the gauge. You can have up to 2 tokens at the same time. You gain no Insight when on maximum amount of Impostor tokens.
Charging M2 (2s) when facing the survivor within lunge range tags them as a “viable impostor”, spending one impostor token. Up to two Survivors can be tagged at the same time this way. Survivors are not aware of the tag.
When a tagged Survivor outside your Terror Radius starts taking part in any interaction (repairs/sabotage/cleansing/healing/mending) - you receive a noise indicator (but no more often than every 6 seconds). Facing the indicator and charging Secondary action Reveals the tagged Survivor as yourself in disguise: You use one impostor token and appear in place of a tagged survivor, being stunned for 1.5 seconds while you remove the disguise. This is accompanied by a chime that can be heard in double Terror Radius both around the tagged victim and your previous location. The replaced survivor loses the “viable impostor” tag and is transported to a random locker (lockers furthest from the Killer’s and tagged Survivor’s initial positions have higher chance of being the destination). That locker’s aura is revealed to the Killer for 2 seconds.
Power addons
Power addons deal with increased “Insight” gauge speed, impostor reveal radius, reveal stuns and inflicting additional harm after revealing yourself. Notable Power addons are:
New zippers: Easily removed disguise allows you to ignore the Reveal Stun.
Nerve gas: Before revealing yourself, you’ve spread nerve gas around you. All survivors within 12 meters of the Reveal suffer from Exhaustion for 30 seconds.
Personal file: You’re great at behavioral analysis. Tagged “viable impostor” auras are revealed to you for 1 second every 30 seconds while they are outside of your Terror Radius.
Sketch map: Before revealing yourself you’ve kept tabs on your “friends” whereabouts. Reveals all Survivors’ auras to you for 4 seconds after the Reveal.
Detailed notes: Knowledge of your prey makes you more dangerous. Impostor reveal costs 2 tokens, but inflicts Exposed effect on all survivors within 28 meters of the Reveal for 30 seconds.
A study in victimology: You start the Trial with 3 impostor tokens.
Perks:
Leaked intel: One Survivor is your Obsession. When in a chase with your Obsession, each time you gain a Bloodlust level - the aura of a nearest Survivor who is not your Obsession is revealed to you for 1/2/3 seconds. Only one Obsession per match.
“Gathering clues and telltale only to spoon feed the darkness behind your backs...”
Supporting actor: One Survivor is your Obsession. While your Obsession is alive - your Terror Radius is never larger than the distance from you to your Obsession. Your aura is visible to your Obsession when the distance between you is less than full/half/third of your Terror Radius. Only one Obsession per match.
“He missteps, his voice goes off tone, he misremembers your words - his aide is working behind the scenes to draw away the attention...”
Deathbed confession: One Survivor is your Obsession. Your Obsession is immune to being Exposed, other negative statuses expire 20%/30%/40% quicker. Putting your Obsession on a hook applies the Exposed status to all Survivors outside your Terror radius for 20/30/40 seconds. Only one Obsession per match.
“He’s a faithful watchman, but it’s not the strangers he’s watching...”
=====
New SURVIVOR - Inside man
Name: Manfred Blake
“College student Manfred worked together with his brother Kensworth on their joint thesis on killers & victims psychology and social response. The other brother played the killer part, while Manfred stayed with the group, taking notes on their behaviour and responses. It didn’t take long for Kensworth to escalate his killer impersonation to actual killings after their thesis was ridiculed. Manfred could not stand up to his brother and continued taking notes for his brother’s research. No group ever saw them coming. Or working together.”
Role: Inside man
Perks:
Planted resources: When retrieving an Item from a Chest, there is a 100% chance that an additional item will spawn in this chest. If you are the Killer’s Obsession this also guarantees that the new item will be of Rare quality or higher. Only other Survivors can search the Chest for an item spawned this way. This perk can trigger only every 300/200/100 seconds. Increases your chance of being the Killer’s Obsession.
“You need to keep up your disguise. What better way than helping your fellows?”
Obviously disposable: Each Survivor killed or sacrificed increases your non-altruistic interactions speed by 1%/2%/4% permanently, but inflicts Exposed status on you for 20 seconds and gives the Killer a noise indicator of your location. If you are the Killer’s Obsession - the speed bonus is doubled. Increases your chance of being the Killer’s Obsession.
“Your usefulness has its limits, and you are painfully aware of that.”
Paid in life: You have 4%/8%/12% chance per each other living Survivor of ignoring the hit that would put you into the dying state, instead stunning the Killer for 2 seconds. This effect can only be triggered once every 120 seconds if you are the Killer’s Obsession. Otherwise this effect can be triggered only once every 240 seconds. Increases your chance of being the Killer’s Obsession.
“You are doing everything he asks, it’s in his interests to keep you alive as long as possible.”

I think you've put a lot of thought into how this killer would work. It's hard to know if they could do the survivor swapping thing but we'll see. I would say that what's the point in swapping places with a survivor if they are teleported away. I think the survivor tagged should show auras of other survivors within 8m to make this worth while.
Leaked Intel is the sort of perk I think would work well in this game. It's not strong but can play well with other perks, such as Play With Your Food or Save The Best For Last.
Supporting Actor is interesting because it would work well with discordance. It work also work well with Dying Light since it could help get you closer to your obsession. The perk should light up when it's in affect (Like NOED or Dying Light).
Deathbed Confession I like because it's Exposed status is lower but also the other survivors may face it 3 times. I think the obsession should have something to let them know he has this perk but otherwise I think another well rounded killer perk.
I think you've got the idea of an obsession perk done correctly. There is a good thing and a bad thing which is what an obsession perk should be. I also like the fact that I haven't herd any other ideas like this before.
Planted Resources I'm finding really hard to understand. Maybe rework it please and I'll re-edit this post
Obviously Disposable is a bit strong. That could be an additional 4% for all 3 survivors or 8% for 2 survivors (not including the double for the obsession). The exposed status is way too short and not much of a risk for the survivor.
Paid In Life I personally don't think they'll add anything that will make survivors ignore a hit, there would be an uproar if there was.1 -
Thank you so much for reading this. You're right - I'm trying to think things over: creating fan ideas like these is not only to feel closer to the fandom and all the fame it brings (lol), but it's also a very interesting mental exercise, where you need to make sure you're not copying others' work and still staying true to game lore and mechanics.
For the killer power, I believe aura reveal should be more of an addon thing, not a basic part of the power. In my opinion, this kind of power is about crowd control - the killer should put pressure on the map to make sure the Survivors are cooperating. And once the killer knows where the bulk of them is - it's high time to reveal-teleport. Perks like discordance and other aura-revealing ones would help in determining if the Survivors are flocking together.
Secondary, non-obvious effects of the power are:
1. Since the Killer gets noise indicators when the survivor is in an interaction - the killer knows the direction the tagged survivor is;
2. When you do the reveal - the corresponding locker aura is revealed - the killer knows the direction where the previously tagged survivor is.
Thinking about it - there probably must be a way to time-limit the "viable impostor" tag.Thank you for your praise on the killer perks. I really appreciate it.
As for the survivor perks, the thoughts are:
Planted Resources literally resets a treasure chest to hold an additional item, but the perk holder cannot search the chest the second time - only other Survivors can benefit from the additional item.Your Obviously Disposable Critique is on spot. I too think the numbers should be tweaked.
Paid In Life is result of a runoff imagination, really. You are absolutely correct the devs would never allow this. Then again - the fan creations are not going to be really considered for implementation anyway
P.S> I've also uploaded a different idea at (shameless self-ad) https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/41527/fan-killer-survivor-the-witchhunt

The problem I had with the power was that it doesn't exactly help you during to catch a survivor. It takes the survivor you see and teleported them away from you. It just doesn't feel worth stalking a survivor, (which gives other survivors time to do gens) if all i do is move them as far away as possible from me. At least with knowing survivors are within 8m then it gives a reason to stalk them and swap with them.
I might be wrong about this but I think they said the next chapter is a fan created one? I think they said this on a stream before Legion was added. So who knows but the perks are more likely to be taken because they are easier to implement into the game.
I will. I have a chapter I'm adding soon, just finalising the details so check it out as well.1 -

Yes, you are correct. I don't really have a solution to that: even though I added hitting and grabbing a survivor to be another way of gaining intel - the Impostor's power indeed doesn't provide immediate benefits without high skill in crowd control. Maybe this could be remedied by a weak secondary power, but I'm not sure what it might be at the moment.
I might be wrong about this but I think they said the next chapter is a fan created one?
Wow, really? That's something I'd never really expect. I'll research the info, thank you

Hold on now, lets say you tagged a Survivor and let them go for when you're ready. You chase someone and hook them and then suddenly you get that noise indicator that your viable imposter is ready, bam switch to that Survivor and you're all ready for another chase. This is a situational power of course but it's a powerful one, I would love the ######### out of this Killer, would probably be my newest favorite if it came out. This is beyond beautiful, you took that mimic thing everyone has been wanting and just went all the way with it, thank you for this glorious post I really enjoyed reading it.

I really like the killer perks, especially they are obsession perks.
Supporting Actor and Deathbed confession is a perfect match with each other.
But I am confusing, the killer terror radius is never larger than the distance between killer and obsession, let's say the killer with a 32 meters terror radius, and the distance between kill and obsession is 48 meters, is it still 32 meters terror radius or 48 meters? What will happens if 'Monitor and Abuse' and 'Supporting Actor' triggered at the same time?
if killer and obsession are 48 meters far, TR of the killer is 32 meters, what is the TR if not in a chase?
also, if the killer is chasing obsession, 8 meters, would the TR turn to 16 meters or still 8 meters?I am sorry that I ask so many questions, but I wanna know about what will happens if killer brings another TR perk.

I've tried to word it the way that the Terror radius maximum range is limited by the distance to the Obsession.
If the normal radius is 32m, and the Obsession is 48m far - the radius is 32m since, but if the obsession is 26m away - the radius is lowered to 26m.
This is a bit of a stealth perk.Hold on now, lets say you tagged a Survivor and let them go for when you're ready. You chase someone and hook them and then suddenly you get that noise indicator that your viable imposter is ready, bam switch to that Survivor and you're all ready for another chase.
That is exactly the case. However this doesn't mean that every time you'd be in a chase. You'd have to combine the power with aura perks or crowd control to make sure that Survivors are flocking together. Only then Revealing is very beneficial.

Ok that perk makes sense now, so your TR shrinks the closer your Obsession is to you.
So having a large TR would help in herding them together, Sloppy Butcher or Thana to promote groups healing each other.

Yes, I've seen that idea many times, but every time people are suggesting for the Killer to actually disguise as survivor, which is in my opinion is way too easy to spot and wouldn't be able to fool anyone. So I thought why not use an actual survivor?
Ok that perk makes sense now, so your TR shrinks the closer your Obsession is to you.
Exactly.

adding a map
Location map
Kappa Kappa Delta main frat house
The map is a large two-storied wood-laden frat house with a large hall and multiple rooms on the second floor. Outside in the back is the pool, poolside chairs and grills. In the front cars are parked in disarray.
The whole house and the yard paint a picture of a party abandoned: the house is in disarray, there are abandoned drinks, empty plastic cups and beek kegs everywhere. The common room is lit by light organ with strobe lights, music is playing - albeit distorted. Party streamers are hanging from ceiling, lamps, from trees and cars outside. Confetti is everywhere. However the whole location is covered in blood splatter.
Several dead bodies can be found around: one slumped in the kitchen, head in the kitchen sink, another is bolted upside down to a wall along the main stairwell, third is floating in the pool, and one run over by a car that is crashed into the living room of the house, the last one is hanging off the fence not far from the Exit Gates.
The killer’s basement has plans, photos and profiles pinned to walls, all interconnected with threads.

I enjoy this fan chapter, the fact that this is basically anti altruistic is very nice for someone who wants to be a lone wolf as a survivor. Your killer perks are amazing, and I love how they basically make it to where the obsession is a unwilling ally in your hunt. I think Leaked Intel would work well with PWYF.
The power is pretty cool and unique. I am a bit tired right now so I can't give a full review but you got a like from me ^^

Thank you so much. Like I mentioned - I wanted to make a viable mechanic of this popular "disguise" idea. I don't think I've seen anyone take this approach before and I'm actually really happy at how it turned out.
I think the Deathbed confession (killer) and Paid in life (survivor) might be a bit op, but I'm not sure if they can be fixed.

Deathbed Confession works well with BBQ%C while paid in life has a long cooldown. It's all good.

I see definite potential here. Some concerns though. First with the power...what good is taking the imposters place if the imposter was alone with no one else around? Also, there's troubling synergy with the power and the perk Iron Maiden. Might be too strong.
Now killer perks. Love deathbed confession (and it's interaction with bbq&chili). I think Leaked Intel is too weak for it requiring you to be in a chase with your ob. & gaining lust. Perhaps change it to once every 5 seconds while in a chase with ob.? On the fence about Supporting Actor.
Surv. Perks...like planted resources. Obviously disposable too, though don't think exposed effect needed. Pain in life needs work. Anything rng based is not good.
Keep up the good work!0 -
First with the power...what good is taking the imposters place if the imposter was alone with no one else around?
It stops them from progressing. In a usual situation it would be up to the Killer to put pressure on the map and herd Survivors. But for example at the end switching places with a survivor on a generator stops that generator progress. What about switching with a survivor who is opening the exit gates? Stops exit gates AND you now know where the Survivor is - you got the aura of the locker.
Iron Maiden could be fun. ^__^

I love the map, gosh I was thinking about this today, someone made a rework for Legion and was trying out the mimic thing again I thought of this. I'm tagging @not_Queen in this because I heard that the Devs were interested in the mimic ability for a Killer and damn if this isn't perfect.

With the right combination of perks you would be still in play for 6 hits in a single chasr

1 this perk
1 DS
1-2 Die Hard
1 Deliverance0 -
I'm thinking about switching Pain in life along the lines of something like this:
Paid in life
When another Survivor is hit within 4/6/8m from you - if you are Injured or Dying - gain 30% bonus progression to your own healing gauge. If healthy - gain a speed boost as if you were hit instead.- Paid in life can heal you one state up if the added bonus is enough to do that;
- Extra progression is carried over to the next state if applicable;
“You are doing everything he asks, it’s in his interests to keep you alive as long as possible.”

About **Paid in life** - the recent leaks shows a planned perk to be included in the game that actually in fact DOES allow to ignore a hit. It's way more restricted than my idea, of course

Yea I'm shocked they are adding a perk that avoids hits but it at least has a good counter where your aura is shown at a decent distance.
I'm annoyed because I wrote down that Flip-Flip perk idea on my phone and didn't create a chapter for it yet..
As I said at the time I think there will be an uproar from killers if this perk is added
