Suggestion | Escapes with Box and Tape
I think it would be pretty nice, if a survivor gets to keep the Tape from The Onryo or the Lament Configuration from The Cenobite in his inventory upon escaping with it. This would just be a cosmetic thing since survivors won't be able to re-select it in the inventory to represent how often a survivor escaped with the specific item from these killers

So basically trophies? Kind of not on-theme for a game where Survivors are the victims of an eldritch horror devouring their souls, and even escaping is just resetting them for the next attempt to die.

So you're saying survivors escaping with items should lose them, then? To keep on with the theme? ;)

A Survivor's items are different from a Killer's items (which would only be a trophy to the Survivors).
How do Survivors get an RBT off without access to a Jigsaw box? Why would they keep a cursed VHS tape? Or the deadly cube that summons the BDSM demon? Why are they insta-healed when they cross an invisible line? Why do items with charges missing get full charges again? It's pretty clear the Entity 'resets' things. That would include removing Killer-based items.
There's also a clear difference between 'This toolbox could save my life' and 'This object that the Killer is aware of and can possibly track because it's tied to them'. My assumption is that the Killer items turn into fog, and the Survivor forgets about it, the second they exit the trial. Either that, or the Survivor ditches it, on the assumption that it could lead a Killer back to the bonfire.

Your suggestion has made me think of an alternate suggestion. Rather than having the item added to your inventory, what about a charm that becomes unlocked. Have it be a charm related to the VHS.

Unlocking charms for escaping with a killer item would be a nice touch yeah.

This is a better idea in my opion because even if you got the item as a cosmetic how would you equip it? if you had it as part of the bodey that would mean that you have to use base bodey and on top of that how would items like flashlights, toolboxes, ect work you wouldnt be able to see the item you equiped. So if you had it as a charm all of these things would be cleared.
