Just played a few rounds as i had a daily.
For some reason i got pretty average survs and felt very strong with him - really rare these days.
I don´t know old Freddy though.

It's a good thought but let's be real, if old Freddy came back he wouldn't stand a chance with the perks out today I could literally run just WGLF and heal someone up that was just downed before he could put me to sleep to hit me , I think people have forgotten how bad old Freddy really was back then, I mean it's a cool thought but at the end of the day it would be a big nerf to current Freddy and after about a week even the Freddy mains would start rioting, if you were a Freddy main back then and stuck with him as a killer you have my respect that ######### was ridiculously out of whack for me at least

How did old Freddy work back then? If someone could explain.

You had to put someone to sleep before you could hit them and you couldn't see Freddy until you were going to sleep and if multiple survivors are there they could literally wake each other up faster than you could sleep them and then to top it off if you got a down in the gates and someone started healing you had to put them to sleep and hit them just to stop it they could literally heal up and not be asleep anymore and you would have to sleep them again to hit them , no dream snares or pallets were there

Man, I really miss the head tilt when falling asleep to Freddy. I am glad I got to experience it, Good times.

The invisible pickup and the head tilt was funny to me. I remember blinding Freddy without being asleep to save a friend.

I once got blinded by an awake Survivor while using old Lightborn.
Best flashlight user I've ever seen.
The original description from his very first power, the one most Freddy mains want to return:
- -Survivors who are awake do not see or hear The Nightmare.
- -Once targeted by The Nightmare's Power, Survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
- -During the Dream Transition they can see The Nightmare intermittently.
- -When the Dream Transition has elapsed, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
- -Survivors' Auras are revealed to The Nightmare whenever they are outside of his Terror Radius.
- -Survivors suffer an Action speed penalty of -50 %.
- -To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find other non-sleeping Survivors to perform a Wake-up action.
- -Failed Skill Checks can wake up the Survivor.
- -Getting hooked wakes up the Survivor.

Nah, Old Freddy can rot in the depths of whatever hell exists in the Entity's realm, alongside pre-nerf Spirit.
Sadako's power imitates his somewhat, and already looks far more enjoyable and interactive to verse.

No need. I'm not ignorant to the old Freddy playstyle; I've been playing the game since it launched and have first hand experience with him.
I was there when old Freddy was born, and I was there when he died.
Definitive proof that I played him extensively well before his rework rolled around in July 2019.

He wouldn't return the exact same ya know...
There were a few weaknesses to be addressed, and two QoL adjustments to be implemented.
He would return as a perfectly designed killer, as his very first version was.
That is what we ask for.

:-) The Monto start - Dead Harded - and 2 gens pop after the chase... seems not so different than today.
And you have to admit that Lerys looks better now.
But hm - you first need to make them fall asleep - you don´t need that anymore.

Hell nah, mate, thanks. Old Léry's was my favorite map and the current one makes me sick to my stomach. But that is not the topic at hand.

I've given my support for this for a while. Obviously he cant be copypasted like he used to be with how strong stuff is now. Id keep his teleport tweak the sleep numbers maybe while your falling asleep your Incapacitated so you cant just commit to stuff and ignore the sleep? Stuff like that.

I would hardly call release freddy perfect, i played back when he was released and he was quite frankly just awful in so many regards.
But if we really are gonna get his old powers backs, i would much rather have them take what he had and improve upon it, aswell as taking aspects from rework freddy's kit and add to the old one, that way you can appease both old freddy and new freddy mains.

I also had that idea of mixing and matching, such as an add-on for Dream Pallets and keeping the teleport. There is PLENTY of potential for an excellent killer in here.

While i do agree Freddy does have some potential, there are some problems that must be addressed first
- Freddy being unable to deal with hook rushers or people slamming the gens due to him being unable to hit awake Survivors with M1.
- Sleep transitioning taking too long giving Survivors enough time to get to safety or finish an interaction.
- Lack of map pressure. (althou giving freddy his gen teleportation would fix that frankly)
A way to deal with these issues old Freddy suffered from is through a Sleep Tier progression system similar to Doctor's madness system but instead of how high your madness is, would instead acts on how deep asleep Survivors are and in return would make Freddy Stronger as a result, which Survivors would want to avoid. I've actually been working on a rework concept for freddy with such a system.

First point - Incapacitated Status Effect during the Transition.
Second point - Movement speed penalty for putting a Survivor into the Dream Transition reduced from 3 seconds to 1.
Third point - keep Dream Projection.
OG Freddy had very few problems, and they are honestly pretty easy to fix.

I actually rather have the option to make Survivors fall asleep with M1 aswell for convenience sake but also having dream demon power to put Survivors to sleep along with transition timer but grants a greater reward for the killer as of result.
If anything, you can give him a brown addon aswell that makes it so he can't hit Awake Survivors but grants more blood points in return.

I've never played old Freddy. Current Freddy I'm pretty good at. I average 2 to 3 kills per game. But I really can't say much about the old Freddy, but the current one is fine. But that's fro. My perspective.
The one thing I noticed though is that the videos of the old game.... God they looked so scary. What happened? The maps are so bright now with practically no fog.
If they bring back anything, bring back darker, scarier maps with more fog. That's what this game is lacking. It isn't scary like it should be.

I don't really think we'll see old freddy return, considering the devs seem to work mostly off stats and freddy has had one of the highest kill rates in the game since his rework (consistantly too, he's always up there) plus they seem pretty happy with his current state
despite the fact that 90% of his addons suck and aren't worth using
despite the fact that his power is just, well - boring? I don't mean that in the sense of "oh anti loop = bad" boring, I mean that when I play freddy I don't feel like I'm playing freddy if that makes sense. I'm playing snare long glove man.
The dream world doesn't feel like a dream world, it feels like a filter that's only purpose is hiding the terror radius and saying "hey u are affected by dream snares/pallets now". I'd appreciate current freddy a lot more if the dream world didn't feel like an inconvenience that sometimes nukes ur fps

Imma just say it: the ONLY reason why Freddy's kill rates are high, is because the only people left who still play him are very experienced.

I don't think that's the reason
In my opinion it's because his kit is incredibly easy to use. Like Bubba - there's still a skill ceiling to it but there's not a lot you can really 'learn' with him. His power is consistant and paired with strong perks it can get results much higher than that of your typical killer like Trapper or Clown.
I think that's also why I find him boring to play, because I feel like once I know how to put snares on loops, sometimes use teleport mid chase then that's it. Peak freddy, nothing to really learn

I think this has a significance. Freddy is extremely boring now, to the point of pursuing his alleged easy strength is simply not worth it.
He is definitely on the "rare" side of the spectrum now. The only people who still remain are the ones who really like the character, often in the experienced side, causing his kill rates to remain in the higher levels.

Honestly I dont think old freddy was beyond redemption.
Nerfing the gen slowdown, but adding the gen teleport from new freddy
Give old freddy clocks but also give passive falling sleep
Then throw some other buffs on there, not sure what, haven't thought about it a whole lot but old freddy was definately more thematic

Lol, and to top it off, I always use Fake Pallets. They're overall a bit worse than the snares, but it never gets old watching survivors fall for a fake pallet, get spattered and then immediately hit in the face for their efforts. 😄 Pallets are gimmicky but the gimmick is just so satisfying to watch.

If you don't mind me telling you about old freddy, he was really bad but extremely unique, he was one of the best killers unique wise, and a really good old freddy with old dying light still haunts my dreams (no pun intended).
So you as freddy had to put the survivor asleep, you had like 7 seconds before you can hit them unless with addons which made it like 4, his playstyle was amazing for people that were good with him, I sucked with him so yeah, 1 or 2 kills TOPS.
Survivors could hear the claws and hits but if they weren't asleep they couldn't be hit, self care was a direct counter to him as well (just miss a skillcheck boom awake), many players like myself and GeneralV (maybe you know them) grew fond to the playstyle even though I was trash with freddy.

The opposite would be better. If you compare the two, the Remake Freddy is MUCH better suited for his original power than Englund's Freddy.

Of course, this is all just fantasy land anyways. No idea what beef Behavior has with the Wes Craven estate, but they do not want smoke, son. And it is REALLY unfortunate because we are missing so many horror icons because of whatever. And yet they agree to contracts roping them into NFTs or deleting maps instead of reskinning them. It is so cringe, bruh.
