Let's make Saboteur a viable perk

It's a fun perk, but I think one or more of these suggested changes could make it more viable.

1. Cooldown initiates after the hook has been fully sabotaged - choosing the right hook is often a guessing game and this would allow the player to cancel the action and switch hook if the killer changes direction.

2. Hook visibility - Perhaps allow the survivor see hooks when a player is downed, instead of after they are picked up. This would give the player more time to plan the sabotage.

3. Cooldown length - A change to the cooldown length to match the hook respawn would negate the ability for the killer to just drop the survivor and then use the same hook after it respawns.

What do you think? Any ideas, or are people content with how the perk as is?

Peace.

I hate to say this but no we don't need a resurgence of Sabo Squads. Sabo is perfectly fine where it's at. It keeps it from becoming a power creep with it's current state, I have already been seeing more duo SWFs doing both Boil Over and Sabo.

seems like reasonable QoL changes to me

Ideas 1 and 2 would be really nice, and I think they should be added to the perk. It'd make the perk feel a lot better to use.

The cooldown is fine though, I think.

Sabo is fine outside of the cooldown triggering on action and not completion.

Yep, I’ve long advocated for no cool down unless a sabo is complete, and seeing the hook auras whenever a survivor is in the dying state. Those two alone would go a long way for the perk.

Sabo is fine the way it is

That would also be nice as sabotage and heal are the same button. I've gotten better at double checking but many a sabo chances have been lost when I pull someone off the hook only to start sabotaging the hook instead of healing them. It always felt dum that I now lost my sabo for 60 seconds.

The sabo should just be made faster and make it so the cool down doesn't trigger if you dont fully sabo a hook.

I do sabo saves quite often, but I never use the perk as a brown toolbox can do exactly the same thing without a cool down.

Feel like I'm the only one to do sabo saves anymore :(

I'm content with the perk.... It's a good perk but it gets outshined by other perks

There's no need to buff already good perks just because they don't get used all of the time...

No you shouldn't be able to get off of one Hook and get on another cause the Killer saw you go for the one you are on

I can see the second part becoming something

Sorry... I got to disagree with the third thing you brought up.... The cooldown length is fair cause Sabotage is a high risk high reward kind of perk (it either works or it doesn't)... plus hooks come back after 15-30 seconds I think

Agreed. I used sabo like twice and then realised id be better off with a brown toolbox. These are QOL changes that make it a viable perk but wont make it meta.

Another option would be to make it increase sabo speed with toolboxes/ toolbox efficiency, similar to selfcare with med kits. That way, at least you could use it to compliment your toolbox instead of be completely replaced by it.

This pretty much what I was thinking. Only thing else I could think of it increase the speed of sabo. If the player is taking up a perk slot to sabo it should be faster or at least as fast as a toolbox.

This, so much this. Honestly it's a big reason I don't use it is those accidental going for sabo instead of heal and being stuck with crappy cooldown. They should either remove cooldown (my personal preference) OR change it to the be "activate ability" button instead of "interaction" button.

I think it’s fine cause. It would introduce new play styles and eliminate the same old perks we see

Anti-hooking capability shouldn't be more than guessing game.

The only change I would make to it is if the sabotage is interrupted or cancel instead of going on a full cool down (90sec?) it would be half cool down at 45 seconds instead.

Gotta be careful with this is mostly fine as it is now. Don't need teams or old DBD having every hook broken forcing the killer no choice but to slug everyone.

The only change that needs to be made is not going on cooldown if you don't sabo the hook. Sometimes you accidentally start saboing the hook after a hook rescue, because of the delay before you can start healing. And that's kind of unfair.

Don't know about the perk, but I've seen more sabo plays lately, it worked like a charm against me T_T (both times)

Ugh PTSD to the old times with 4 men Sabo squads in times when hooks and traps could be permanently broken. 😨

Idk if you can make Saboteur viable. Maybe make it sabo faster? I honestly don't understand why it has a cooldown when it is so slow, you can't really use it to sabo hooks. It's more of a combo perk and you pretty much use it for the hook auras, but you'll do just as fine without it.

    Lmao just bring a toolbox

Saboteur is great paired with Yuis perk that lets you run faster than the killer while he is carrying a survivor. this plus we are getting a haste perk.

throw on empathy or spine chill for extra destruction speed and your toolbox basically becomes a flashlight

it would be cool though if the skill increased the time it took for hooks to respawn by like 5 seconds or so
