Do you think we could ever get an Irredeemable Female Killer?
BHVR seems to have an unhealthy obsession with having THEIR ORIGINAL female killers lives' be filled with one escalating tragedy after the other, during their lives, and then making sure they suffer as much as humanly possible and then sum.
The closest thing we got was Sally but that was done almost all retroactively because her initial lore just from when the game first came out and you'd be lucky if your lore could even have enough characters to fill up a tweet. and even then its heavily implied that she had done so out of losing her sanity and being fed hateful rhetoric where her love and reasoning used to be. but even after she was taken by the entity she is still greatly tortured judging by how she looks like she's being strung up at the neck and how much pain using her blinks causes her.
Hag, suffered through getting kidnapped, tortured and had pieces of her cut up and eaten, her hand chopped off. and then getting deformed.
Huntress, had her family torn apart by war, orphaned when her mother was killed, had to hold her mother as she died, had to raise herself in the wilderness ALONE AS A CHILD, had to fend off an entire army,
Rin, had to watch her mother wither and get sick, watched her family life crumbled as they struggled with debt and poverty from her mother's illness. has a cursed family bloodline.
lost not one, but two parents because of the entity's corruption, had to find her mother chopped up into bloody pieces, lost her father when he lost his sanity, mercilessly attacked by her father, had her arms chopped off, thrown off of a balcony and glass, get chopped off even more before finally dying.
Julie and Susie are still largely portrayed as seen as being dragged into doing the murder by Frank out of impulse and out of peer pressure, _ far too sensitive._
Adiris was literally abandoned by her family as a child and was brought in by a sect that was all too happy about sacrificing people. had the plague happened in her city, probably had to watch a ton of people in her circle and followers died from it, later would suffer from the agonizing and painful plague herself. had to in her mind sacrificed herself to appease her gods and get forgiveness for her followers.
Charlotte, was literally born in 17th century europe attached to the hip with a gremlin. lived in the sewers, family was persecuted, had to live on the run because her mother was accused of witch craft. as a child had to watch her mother be literally burned alive, kidnapped, tortured and experimented on for a few years, lost her gremlin brother, had to carry around his dead corpse inside of her, had to continue living on the run and had to rob and kill people at times, basically starved and froze to death if the entity hadn't intervene.
and don't even get me started on the torture porn of back to back to back to backkkkk tragedy the artist Carmina had to endure in her childhood, her life, near its end and now in the realm.
With their male original killers at least there seems to be way more variety in their motivations, determination, drive and morality, behind the lives they lived and the reasons why the entity was so attached into bringing them into the fog. and also shoes.
You have irredeemable bastards like Doctor, Clown and Trickster. Meanwhile you also have misguided or foolish killers like Blight and Oni, or an avenger type backstory like Slinger and Wraith who the world chewed and spat but out of sheer will and ingenuity managed to get back at the people who wronged them, or tragic characters like Trapper who had a good heart at first hardened and darkened by the emotional and psychical abuse of his father turned into monster just like his father. or a monster who lost any resemblance of humanity in hillbilly. or the little gremlin who went through some of the stuff that charlotte also went through.
There is such good variety in the male killers, they don't all just get culled into the realm because they suffered a lot in their lives and could use a bit more suffering of in the realm. that and they wear shoes.

Basically, more unique lore for female killers than, "oh this person's life sucked and now they kill people."

I really do wish that more original female killers would get more unique back stories other than "She had a tragic life and died, now serving the entity and looking for revenge".

Not so sure anout Julie, tbh. Susie definitely seems like she was roped into something she wasn't cool with, but there isn't really much suggesting that Julie wasn't willing to commit to murder.

I don't know her full back story other than what i remember in Saw, other than she was an addict, and she helped cause the death of John's son.
She seems to be a willing participant in "Jigsaw"

While some bad things did happen to huntress she still kidnapped chiled and Hunts people for sport practically. She's done some pretty messed up things.

Yeah you are right but Julie is enjoying with killing. Susie and Joey probably never wanted kill anyone but Julie and Frank are real devils. But Julie is not enough ofcourse, we should get more unique female killers.

I think you are just ignoring or exaggerating the female killer's circumstances relative to the males. You literally frame the male version as vengeance when it is the same thing you are criticizing from the female lore. And then you liken peer pressure to torture and cannibalism for whatever reason.

I mean does it really matter? The entity looks for people that it can corrupt and coerce them into killing for them. Sally it insane basically, Charlotte is only in prob cause the entity keeps victor in a zombified state, Rin just has a bunch of rage similar to oni, Adiris got pulled in thinking that it would save her people (or what I think is the situation), Huntress is literally a child in a adults body, etc.
The males just seemed to be brought in by things normally would like a serial killer clown, a mercenary cowboy, a scientist that injected himself with a strange serum, 2 people who were basically in a situation where they didnt have a family (billy and wraith) and more.

Socially speaking that makes Frank even more responsible because he didn't empower her to make a better decision. Instead he was a toxic male whose toxicity made her feel like she had to impress him.
.... Yeah it's pretty stupid but watch enough true crime and guess what the number two argument from a grown woman for why she did something awful after "I was afraid of him".
Its "I wanted to impress him". It works less then you would think but far, far more often then you'd hope.

thank you i loved reading this comment. as a true crime buff, i've seen how society tends to react to female perpetrators of violence and homicide and how they want to fill in so much of their motives and lifestory and rationalize just why it pushed them to commit the crimes that they did. meanwhile most of these crimes by men are largely taken as a matter of fact behind the motive and mental state going into crimes that they did.
some women just like some men can also be absolute psychopaths with no sense of empathy.
i think a part of it is also western story style or expectations, I've recently been watching a slew of Asian horror movies and some of their Western adaptions. I really noticed that in western movies the killers or monsters they always try to squeeze in a sympathy card whenever they can, meanwhile with asian horror there are less of those kinds of depictions and they're more comfortable with having an evil character or bad character just be bad. like you could see why they were pushed to or more incline into doing what they did, but you don't have to go through like 20 minutes of backstory of them as a child to learn about how ######### their childhood was.
i'm just glad that we now have the tome lore to help expend on the characters lore, because they're able to explore the less sympathetic sides of female killers side, and its honestly helped out the male killers as well. characters like the wraith and trapper benefited greatly from the expansions.

I think it is a reflection of society inability to reconcile female role with concept of innate evil. We have to wring hands over women (and children) who do evil things, what led them to do this instead of accepting psychopathy, dark triad etc is part of human condition.
