Game is still Survivor Sided in 2022
The game is still survivor sided even in 2022. Survivors ignoring these are ignorant

No.

Why no? how is the game balanced? please do tell
8 -
Not true, it just takes a bit more skill to tilt the game in your favor as killer. Learn Nurse/Blight, throw on 4 slowdown perks, use Alch Ring/Crow or Double recharge and watch your win streak pile up.
9 -
Okay
26 -
It's just not that simple.
It's sided towards, RNG, strong addons and experience.
Surely 4 Great survivors have a strong possibility of winning. But as killers and solos know, that is not the norm.
Plenty of my killer games and solo games end in 4ks as well.

always been, and always will be.
6 -
The game may be survivor/killer sided, but the forums will forever be dog sided😌
11 -
As it should be !!
(me going to hide from even more us vs them threads)
13 -
Yeah learn Nurse atm. Good call.
6 -
So thats it? Only 2 out of 26 killers are considered viable if they slap on 4 slowdown perks and the best addons?
17 -
Ok, you got me there, I guess you can tell how little I've been playing the game recently.
1 -
That's not what I'm saying, the problem with making statements like "this game is survivor sided" is that, depending on the killer you play, they can either be completely true, or completely false. This issue isn't black and white, it's a matter of poor balance, and if you want this game to be balanced, then you picked quite possibly the worst game for that.

Everything is survivor sided , after Boon chapter.

Nurse and blight is only tie with survivors of same knowledge level, and anything else is certainly survivor sided.
It's pure black.

I´d say all killers should be more or less equally viable. Only having 2 killers that can be played on high mmr ratings gets kinda stale. For both sides. The issue that bothers me the most is, that the devs see on their data, that something is meta, but don´t ask themselves WHY it is meta.
I´ve seen killers struggle with 2 slowdown perks. During a Q&A they once said, that a perk shouldn´t be obligatory to use. Looking at how killers struggle with gen defense is a clear indicator that something is far off.
5 -
On a QnA stream they also said that with each new updated map totem spawns got hidden better...
If anything, they've only gotten worse.
4 -
no no i promise they're better

I have a theory on this. A couple of weeks before they nerfed Undying, i noticed that the totem spawns had become easier to find. Like on a hill instead of the small "pocket" at the foot. Or next to a gen, when previously it was hidden behing a table. People didn´t believe me back then. But we definetly had better spawns at the release of Undying.
My theory is, that the devs first tried to make totem spawns more obvious, in an attempt to avoid nerfind Undying. But then forgot to undo the change after they nerfed it. Just like the dribbling nerf.

If you think about it this totem could act as a nice and comfy street light on a dark and scary map, I understand now..

The devs want the median results to be 1-3 kills per match with individual survivors having about a 50/50 chance of escaping. If most of the matches among equally skilled players are falling in that range then it’s working as intended. I don’t know if that’s fhe case or not since there’s no public data on matches, but I do see a lot of people who complain about balance who seem to think the game “should be 50/50 that the gates are open at the end” which isn’t what the devs want and would mean higher kill rates than intended.
So if the complaint is “the gates are usually open so the game isn’t balanced” that’s based on a faulty assumption about where the intended balance point is. If on the other hand you think the median kill rates are actually below that 1-3 range then that would indeed be survivor sided, I have no data either way that that’s the case though.
1 -
How do you make all the killers as powerful as nurse or blight?
0 -
By making some of the addons that are "required" to play a certain killer, basekit and improving on the other addons.
Like, for example Hag and Myers both have the most variable addons that allow for completely different playstyles. That allow insta kills/downs or heavily affect the survivors perception of the killer. While no one would call those 2 killers OP or meta. Devs should build up on that.

Sorry but I don't know if the freezer is the safest place to Hide.

It's a fridge tho
3 -
Unpopular opinion - the game is actually Clown and Pig sided.

What a great way to start my Monday morning.

If someone says 'watch the winrate pile up', the term 'viable' is an understatement.
If you're expecting to 4K every match, the issue is your perception of balance, not the actual balance.
5 -
Aaaaand where did i say that i expect a 4k every match?
I mean, most of my matches as solo survivor, the killer gets barely 4 hooks by the time the gates are powered. This doesn´t look problematic to you?
2 -
Whatever you say
3 -
Actually, what killers expecting is 2k 2e with various strategies to use.
Not physically impossible 0k games or logically impossible (to lose) 4k games.
3 -
Correct
1 -
I support this message.
2 -
bless God I wasn't born thinking DBD was survivor sided to justify me being bad🙏
1 -
How is it not?
2 -
As long as only 3-4 killers are viable and/or killers need their best addons just to compete with what survivors can do with just perks, it always will be.
As long as the maps have the amount of pallets (especially safe ones), loops, and map sizes currently in the game, it always will be.
As long as we have the current balance team and whoever else makes decisions on maps and gameplay elements, it always will be.
I don't see any of that changing.
No, Nurse, Blight, and Spirit don't make the game balanced when the other 90% of the roster can't compete. Survivor sided doesn't mean "in literally every situation survivors win", in the overwhelming majority of situations survivors have a significant advantage and need to mess up out of it.
4 -
So its Not Survivor Sided because i can learn Nurse and Blight ? But what is if i dont want play These Killers what is if i want to have Fun playing Twins and Pinhead im Not allowed i Need to Deal whit to get stomped because only Nurse and Blight are viable against Good Survivors?
If only 2 put of 26 Killers are viable in this Game against good Survivors this already Say how survivor sided this Game is
2 -
LOL. Play survivor as a solo player just ONCE.
Killers got so pampered that you simply wont make it out 9 out of 10 games.
The game has become ultra boring for non SWF players.
3 -
You're right, that's one of the biggest issues I have with the game, no matter which side you play, the most optimal way to play is also the most boring way to play. You can't say the game is killer or survivor biased, it's just varying degree's of BS, and maybe some killers deal with a bit more BS, but a few rounds of Nurse can change that.
1 -
You guys remember when we used to complain how survivor sided the game is when you play against SWFs and everyone told us "it's okay that it's unbalanced, you hardly ever run into the death squads anyways! Just take the loss and move on!" and then SBMM came along and now you play against those teams like every game? Lol
4 -
When you call a killer that strings wins together 'viable', you're implying that that is the baseline to shoot for. Not a 50% winrate, but a 'watch the winrate pile up' winrate.
And no, your anecdote doesn't worry me.
Kind of like how survivors are told to suck it up in regards to camping and tunnelling, and then those became very commonplace too. In other words...
This.
The game is 'sweat-sided'.
3 -
Not in my matches.
The biggest issue I have is that my teammates disconnect or suicide for no reason at all. Turning a 0k or 1k into a 3k.
That's not the killers being busted. That's just survivors being salty that they lost a chase.
4 -
What are you talking about? Killer stringing wins?
1 -
This content has been removed.
-
That is what you responded to. Jonah said 'Nurse/Blight, watch the winrate pile up', and you responded with 'so only two killers are viable'.
0 -
Ohh you meant the hyperbole of taking the only 2 viable killers, slapping 4 (!) slowdown perks and the best addons on them, so they'll stack wins?
Parting from that, to be fair, since killers get to use the best, I'd say for this example, survivors would also play SWF, with 4x DS, 4x DH, 2x BT, 2x UB, 2x BtL, 2x CoH, 1x Flashlight, 1x Toolbox and 2 Medkits. All with the best addons.
Then watch who gets to stack wins.
2 -
That's a nice attempt at a rebuttal, if you didn't, again, classify 'stacking wins' as 'viable'.
Just gives you a very questionable balancing perspective. Like you feel that a killer is only viable if you win all the time.
Conversely, you could point at that string of stuff you put out for the swiffer and say 'Look how much survivors need to invest to be viable!'.
2 -
No, you just tried to change the balance of one side by getting the best stuff, while the other side supposedly stays without the best stuff and claim that one side will stack wins.
I just evened out the odds of this hyperbole.
If we get to use the best stuff, then please consider this for both sides.
Survivors are very viable without all this, and you know it.
3 -
You're still veering away from what the point is. 'Stacking wins' isn't just 'viable'.
Survivors are very viable without all this, and you know it.
Now make the connection: If they're viable without all of that, what do you call them if they -do- have all of that?
