Talking about Monstrous shrine

Though this perk needs no introduction because its monstrous shrine, I am still giving it one just incase people genuinely forgot this perk existed

This is monstrous shrine, saying its weak is just you feeling bad that this perk only gets use if you have a campfire story starting up in the basement cause trust me you are not getting this perk to work otherwise because it only works in the basement (Which makes me curious on if you can actually fail a deliverance usage because of the self-unhook difficulty)

But if you wanna know how much this makes acceleration faster on sacrifice progression

iirc every hook stage is a minute long, full sacrifice is 2 minutes, you are saving an incredible 10 seconds at tier 3 if the survivor is in basement and is being camped without them DCing or killing themselves on hook

Now then lemme bring this up as this is more or less just me being weird about how tomes are set up, it will need to be a scourge hook with better numbers if this perk will get any usability but now camping is gonna be a huge problem, so if this one perk gets changed that means something will have to happen to work around the concept of camping as camping is a way of eliminating a survivor, and toying with how fast one perk can eliminate a survivor can be problematic as it could result in the perk being used every single game, and in a game like dbd I am almost 100% positive the same few perks shouldn't be used every game so every perk can be monitored properly and prevent 1 perk getting a buff and resulting in another becoming extremely broken with it, this is a post about MS but somehow this one perk cannot be buffed without looking into other perks around how hooks work as well, which requires camping to be looked into, which will result in anti-camp perks also being looked into as if the change to camping is too damaging would result in perks like...*flips notes* kinship...I am referring to it as camaraderie for now on, to be even more useless and some perks that were meant to be anti-camp or anti-tunnel in a way being either too strong or become not needed, instead of perks going onto their level in strength. Along with this balance mess perks that are very obviously intended for camping would become useless (Insidious is already pretty bad outside of camping so you would have to change that perk)

So TL;DR Monstrous shrine being changed to a scourge hook would require it to not affect sacrifice speeds or else a good portion of the perks in dbd will need to be reworked, buffed, or nerfed as it changes camping entirely. This is hereby dubbed the "Monstrous Shrine paradox"

Monstrous shrine for it to be buffed. Should become a scourge hook. But it should have a effect that encourages going to the basement. How about this.

When carrying a survivor, if within 16 meters of the basement carrying speed is 50% faster. When a survivor is hooked on the Basement hook(which all 4 basement hooks are scourge hooks). Al survivors get a action speed penalty of 25% when someone is hooked in the basement. They will die faster on the hook like the perk always does.

how about that Bam just fixed all the problems this perk had. Probably not All of them won’t be top tier but will atleast have use

The effects of Monstrous shrine (reducing the chance of self-unhooking and reducing the total time from stage 1 through stage 3 on the basement hook by a maximum of 10 seconds) are both currently terrible and it deserves a revamp and buff.

    • As to the self-escape effects, short of a couple of corner cases, nobody in their right mind tries to get off a hook themselves except as a last resort or if they're intentionally trying to quit the game. So they could literally make that portion of the perk say "Survivors can not pull themselves off a basement hook" and it would still be a terrible effect, let alone what it actually does which is simply somewhat reduce the chance of a self-escape happening.
    • 10 seconds out of 2 minutes is very unlikely to make a difference in a match even if the killer is literally face camping the person in the basement. If a killer is actually just standing around guarding the basement for 110 seconds then that extra 10 seconds is just icing on the cake, the other survivors have already decided to finish all the gens and let that player die on hook. It's hard to imagine this perk has any statistically noticeable impact on the kill rate of killers who use it versus using no perk at all in its slot.

Therefore what I really do think this perk needs is a revamp and buff. One part of a revamp could be that Monstrous Shrine lets all the basement hooks be treated as Scourge Hooks for related perks, but since that alone wouldn't be a good perk either it would have to be paired with some sort of practical benefit that replaces its existing effects. It could be maybe that survivors who are unhooked from basement hooks suffer a condition like Mangled, or maybe it take a few seconds longer to rescue someone from a basement hook, or maybe the killer is able to see the auras of basement hooks to know their location throughout the match (so the killer always knows where to travel to get to the basement.) There's presumably a lot of options available to replace the current effects that somehow involve something happening with basement hooks, just pick your favorite.

So I am totally onboard with removing the current effects of Monstrous Shrine and replacing them with something better that still involves the basement.

    Survivor moans are 80/90/100% sexier.

Considering how the DBD community is it will now have 100% pick rate.

SH Monstrous Shrine -Each survivor hooked in the basement the for the first time spawns a purple glyph for the killer. Each basement glyph collected by the killer increases movement speed by 0.5/0.75/1%.

They can’t Getting rid of perks won’t fix it. We can make it better instead of just straight up deleting it. That would be good it encourages you to get out of the basement and go pressure.

The perk is good. People just do not understand peak Bubba and how to bait people into trying to kobe.

The worst part is it literally warns the survivor if they try to kobe. There will be a red luck icon above the progress bar which hard confirms the killer has monstrous shrine before you even finish trying to escape

That's the best part. So then they know they are .6% less likely to kobe and can fully realize there is no escape.

The only option is to finish being camped to death upon the shrine. Basement Bubba's unite.

monstrous shrine should just convert the basement hooks to extra scourges on top of another separate effect.

I'd rework it to be like Grim Embrace where if you manage to get 4 different people hooked on the basement hooks you gain some super powerful effect.

Of course, considering how hooking survivors in the basement can be somewhat RNG it would need to be a very good effect to warrant such a difficult activation requirement. Maybe instead of one effect you gain after 4 unique basement hooks it could be a growing threat for each token similar to Devour Hope.

No matter what, I'd get rid of its current effects since they promote basement camping. Giving it a better effect that incentivizes going out and bringing more people down into the basement/playing around the basement area would be more fun and healthier for the game.

It should just be changed to 1/2/3 perks deactivate at random while in the basement. Opening the basement chest causes you to scream and be exposed for 60 seconds
