I tried to play without DS
5 games in a row facecamped, farmed off the hook without BT and tunneled.
Never again.

Run DS with No Mither if you can loop and give your teammates ez escapes, if your goal is to escape on your own then I'm sorry but, your going to have to lower your expectations when it comes to your teammates.

The moment you remove a perk from your build, is the moment you need it.

Yup lol

Instead of a perk to help you after you're hooked use a perk that helps you prevent being hooked in the first place.
3 -
I mean... that's my every game since the day I started playing 3 years ago...

Dunno how I've been getting by solo with:
SC/BK/DH/WoO
Guess I'm just #blessed

Sadly there are no perks that help with face camping which is why killers are doing that much more lately. They know it guarantees them a kill, then they just go and do it to the next person and pair this with NOED, No Way Out, Deadlock etc.
And before anyone says Kinship (Camaraderie) please, that's only usable on comms in a coordinated team. Honestly wish they'd buff Kinship so that it punishes dedicated face campers more and incentivizes them to leave the hook because this current meta of face camping has made me quit the game.

Try playing without DS a little longer. Your playstyle will adapt.

There are perks that help, borrowed being the biggest one. Nothing is inherently wrong with face camping but sometimes you need the team to help out more in those situations vs just 1 other person.
Kinship is usable without comms since it only requires another survivor to get close to the hook and nothing else. Does being in comms make it more useful, sure, but its still usable.

*remove Blast Mine*
*next hotfix renders Killers immune to everything except explosives*

BT does nothing in regards to face camping unless you can actually unhook the person. If a killer face camps to the point that you can't even get the unhook then BT effectively does nothing vs face camping. I know it's effective against tunneling immediately off the hook though but that's different.
The devs could fix things like map size issues and problematic things like DH and CoH and killers would still face camp because it's easy and guarantees kills.
5 -
BT only does nothing in regards to face camping if the killer has an instant down, which is a different situation. Not every killer can defend hooks effectively if the survivors play smart. Face camping only works if survivors let it work, which is an issue with survivors not the killer since their only objective is to kill.

My "anti-slug" build which is secretly just "how fast can I possibly go while in the dying state so if I do get slugged it atleast looks funny when they find me" build is a victim of this, changed it for a healing build and got slugged the next game

I haven’t used DS since the midchapter patch since the wiggle skill checks have a chance to mess it up and make it not work.
Sometimes I regret it, but I’d rather not deal with that bug for now.

I don't usually use DS. I sometimes get tunneled because of it, but it's rare. Either the killer will respect DS, or he'll tunnel someone other than me. Survivors can hide as well. If you're on death hook, just don't do anything too bold.

Killers are reacting to the game meta.
With Coh you have infinite free heals, thus people dont need a team mate to heal them, so why chase them? No value unless you find the boon well chasing.
Gen regression is non exsistant so why travel to kick a gen that can be insta tapped to stop it. No value unless you're next to the gen.
The most value killer's get for effort is now to camp and tunnel. Nothing creates pressure for a killer by either having bait on a hook, or having survs try to peel for someone to prevent the tunnel, and thus the survs are not doing gens.
3 -
I usually don't get tunneled, granted I'm not the first one getting chased most of the time.

Exactly my own experience. I am just gonna add that if the killer wants to tunnel you, he is gonna do so no matter if you DS him or not.
The only time during a match where DS can be useful is during endgame, other than that it's not a very helpful perk anymore.

Me with QaQ, Lithe, Dance with me, and Iron Will

It is a very helpful perk. The killer getting stunned and then having to do another chase vs just hooking you again? That's huge.
0 -
Yes, free escapes are helpful. Thanks for pointing that out. The only perk in the game that actually gives you a guaranteed win. Imagine someone saying it is not a very helpful perk, that would be crazy, huh?

Sure but usually DS never means you escape, it just means you burn more time before your inevitable demise. I personally almost never survive when I use DS, unless it was during the endgame. Using DS typically means I was getting proxy camped / tunneled out and the extra time I bought was exclusively for the benefit of my team. And in MMR Solo Q, benefitting your team means diddly squat.
That's why I rarely use it, I would rather have the perks that help me not be in the "getting tunneled out" situation in the first place. At least in solo Q; where I don't really care about my team surviving at all.

And the moment you add it is the moment you almost never get to use it (looking specifically at you deliverance)
2 -
I only use ds on Nancy paired with deliverance. Hella strong in the endgame
1 -
If you make it till the endgame without getting hooked, then yes. It's really strong.
I like strong endgame perks.

I'm a self care gamer and every time I run DS I accidentally deactivate it by using self care for a second.
Yaaay

Or both, lol

As I pointed out - only during EGC. The perk is garbage for the rest of the trial. Either the killer will slug you or tunnel you regardless of the successful DS hit which means, depending on the state of the match and the amount of resources left, that you might just go down a few seconds later again - which is what happens most of the time.
I dropped DS a while ago cause I know if the killer rly wants me dead, it won't help me to prevent it. The only time the perk ever was useful for me was during EGC when I ended up getting tunneled off hook.

DS is amazing if you view DbD as a 1v4 rather than four 1v1. Being able to stun, get to another tile and add even more time to the chase means, if your team keeps at least one hand on gens (I solo queue so not a given) most of, if not all, of the survivors are getting out.
Where it doesn't help that much is when individual survivors don't care about their teammates or if the killer is that much stronger in chase than your team. That I've seen mostly in what I assume are MMR mismatches (in which your team is done like dinner no matter what) or killers that are spreading a lot of hooks around (people who practice chasing).
Endgame it's a guaranteed escape. DS is an amazingly useful perk. The only perk I can think of that's better is DH (which is overpowered in my opinion).

Kinship might be better if it worked on others instead of yourself, I would probably run it a lot more since I often see campers and it would be cool to be in the area and halt progress.
3 -
same can be said the other way around I put DS on and it never used.
1 -
lol reading all these makes me laugh because lol it happens to me lol. let me tell you a story that annoyed me
I got hooked by a leatherface he didnt camp.
I got unhooked
teammate took a hit for me (yay) - leatherface continued to come for me
hit the BT on me - ran away more - leather faced still after me - hit me - ds
Stunned by DS - ran again - i used my endurance in a bottle - hit me again - ran away - leather face continued to chase me
hit me - hooked - facecamp - dead. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I never felt the need to run DS but i can't live without Kindred
0 -
...what, kindled is only be used for non-comm teams.
0 -
Weird. I never play with DS and somehow I never need it.
0 -
Did you just explain why this perk along with others are meta?
😀
0 -
Same, this was an idea I had for a Kinship rework. Currently Kinship is way too niche in solo queue sadly.
1 -
Exactly, the real issue with the perk is the requirement that another survivor be within a certain radius of your hook and then it only works on second stage. The killer standing within a certain radius should be enough of a requirement. The reverse version I could see happening as a perk in the future for another survivor. It could be a great perk to punish a camper, but the current requirements are excessive and the limit to second hook makes it less appealing.

Haven't played with DS in over a year and I don't miss it 9/10 games.
Yeah every once in a while I wish I had it but I play better without it.
Free yourself from the chains of DS.

IDK - I've never seen ds really do all that much. If a killer really wants to tunnel someone out of the game, one baby stun isn't going to stop them. All it really is, is a delay perk.
