Merciless Storm is beyond OP...
So yea my first game against the Onryo was not fun at all. I went into it blind because I wanted it to be as scary as possible. Unfortunately the scariest part of the match was realizing how freaking OP Merciless Storm is. I imagine this is going to be on the build of every killer from now until the end of time. How is this perk fair at all? Those skill checks are nearly impossible to hit all of them and you're basically punished for working on a generator. Its almost like giving the killer an easy notification that you're there and a gen is almost done. Who needs tinkerers when they can just use this new perk? I wouldn't mind if the skill checks were normal skill checks but to make them smaller and proc that fast is too much. New players are going to get screwed all the time going against this perk. Hell I would say most players are going to have a hard time with it. Oh well. I guess the new survivor meta is going to be to work on gens to 70% then leave them for someone else to do. Oh joy...

once per gen per trial is not OP

But its almost a guarantee punish for survivors for working on a generator. Again you're going to see a lot of gens worked up to 70% and left alone because no one is going to want to deal with those skill checks. Its too much. The perk should be redesigned.
1 -
If anything, skill checks could be removed and force every generators to block for 20 seconds at 90% and we can still call it fair because it only happens once.
8 -
It sounds like you just need to get better at the game.
18 -
I'd much rather deal with that than these ridiculous skill checks.
0 -
Yeah I guess it needs to be buffed, like 30 seconds in tier 3.
6 -
the skill checks aren't even that hard
the perk is only annoying if the killer pushes you off the gen but you're being chased anyway so it's not like it matters too much

These skill checks are not okay on Switch. Not at all. Even normal skill checks present difficulties. The Yellow Glyphs take me so many stupid attempts, I never survive those matches when I play on Switch because of how much time I waste doing them over and over and over again.
1 -
Ig you're new? Only times I've broke gens is either cause I ducked up going for a great check, or I was although tabbed, and I'm not a good player. Skill checks are insanely easy.

she/he has already made it clear that she/he is from another platform. I don't play on the Switch but you can't judge that the person is inexperienced just because these skill tests are difficult using controller and not keyboard (apart from occasional problems such as fps drop, lag, etc).
Changing the subject but making a small analogy, it is the same for those who have visual comorbidities and have difficulties with the game's filters, colors, etc. I particularly have a lot of difficulty with dark maps and killers that use traps (hag/trapper), and I already wear glasses on the pc because of the high degree of astigmatism.
Finally, making it clear, there are many possibilities, and not because the person is "new or inexperienced"
about the topic, i have already spoken about it on forum, merciless storm doesn't need to be changed (neither nerfed or buffed), the point is you create synergy with others perk (like tinkerer) to catch survivors off guard in the skill tests that start at 90%. I don't particularly have problems with these tests as survivor, and there's no reason to remove the tests, which are precisely the counterplay to prevent the generator from being blocked (but if used with tinkerer for example or alone with a very fast killer, as I said, you can arrive before the survivors finish the generator on 90% and force the block).

Just hit the Skill-Checks. It doesn't even block the gen for that long

Sucks to be a switch player then. The game shouldn't be balanced to cater for one console when the rest have no issue with stuff like this. Plus, it's the first day it's live. You'll learn to work with it and if not, then oh well
0 -
Eh, I've learned to live with it. The people it's really awful for are my teammates. Sucks to be them. lol

It sounds like you have unreasonable expectations for casual players. Get better at the game... give me a break. How can I be prepared for skill checks like that when they were never in the game like that other than that glyph challenge? Now survivors all have to assume the killer has yet another perk in their loadout. This is just another thing survivor mains are going to have to worry about every match and I feel like its going to get old fast.

I missed the platform comment, sorry. As someone who's played:
PC
Xbox
PlayStation
And switch
Versions of the game. Skillcheck ez. Its literally press button to win.

Same goes for killer. We also have to be prepared for a number of perks you might have
4 -
i dont know, unless the killer is going to push me off, it feels more helpful because now I know exactly when the skill checks are coming, i hope it dosent get affected by doctor's passive howerver.

Merciless Storm is literally the worst new perk of all of them. The skill checks are not that hard. Play against it enough and you'll get it. Then the perk won't ever do anything unless the killer happens to show up when it's active. Tinkerer is much stronger.
If you are having trouble with it, one thing you can look out for is that right as the skill checks start, it will say merciless storm in the top right as a warning.

So you're saying the game should be balanced around Survivors being bad at the game?
1 -
I mean he's not exactly wrong. This is pretty much the yellow glyph skill checks. Once you get used to it the skill checks are not that hard. I mean the yellow glyphs seem to be the most popular glyphs out there. Buy yeah....you'll get used to it. Also it's once a gen. That seems like this makes it more or less a fair perk.

So you think casual players are by default "bad at the game?" Stereotyping isn't helping your argument here. The expectation that the casual players, which ARE the majority, should be on the same level as the elite players is unrealistic and unreasonable. This game is played by many people who just want to play a scary game with their friends. Most players aren't trying to break down the math of pallet looping. Not everyone wants to hard focus every match. So yes, the game should be balanced around CASUAL survivors.
0 -
Yea everyone I played with doing that challenge hated it. They are not the most popular glyphs out there. My point is this is an annoying thing survivors are going to have to just get used to and expect every match. More frustration on top of the already frustration that exists.

Hit the skill checks.
0 -
You mean get pulled off the generator because I'm forced to hard focus nearly impossible skill checks? Got it.
0 -
Skill issue. Git gud.
1 -
You can't be serious. It's a mediocre verging on bad perk. Even if you fail the skill checks just leave the blocked gen and do another one or wait out the block.
1 -
No substance. Unreasonable. Irrational. "Git gud" is not the norm for many if not most players who are just trying to play a scary game with their friends. The more skill focused DBD gets the less fun its going to be for a lot of people.
0 -
I'm pretty sure all casual Survivors already learned how to hit the Skill-Checks while you're still here complaining about it
1 -
An insult for the sake of insulting, knowing full well this is not true. If you're not here to offer something of substantive value to the conversation kindly remove yourself it.
0 -
I mean, do you have proof that casual Survivors are having problems with the Perk and are losing games to it? Cuz from my experience, it didn't even activate most of the time
2 -
The problem is you play dbd on switch
0 -
I hear it...
the calls through the wind...
they are saying...
skill issue

Not by choice, really. It was supposed to have cross-progression. All my DLC is on Switch, including Stranger Things. Without cross-progression, I'm stuck. Switch was supposed to be for traveling, only, with PC as the main way to play once I returned home.
Survivor isn't quite too bad, except for some skill checks. Completely unable to use DS, so getting tunneled out is a foregone conclusion, but it's whatever. Killer is impossible, though. I mostly walk around and wait to see if the survivors beg for their altruism points; the fps is so bad that if they don't stand completely still, I basically can't hit them. I only play killer on Switch for Daily Rituals and Tome Challenges, because it's not really a game mode, it's a walking sim.
Sorry, I know it's off-topic. I'm just super bitter about the lack of cross-progression. Super, super bitter.

The threads I've seen about this perk so far is;

So many choices I just can't pick a side

Why does being casual to you mean not even attempting to be decent at the game.
Like hitting skill checks are not hard and a very simple mechanic to get used to. But somehow you want to turn this into a refusal to even learn to hit skill checks, because you are a casual.
I think your ideal of what a casual player is, is completely warped. Casual players can certainly learn how to engage in simple mechanics that a game has. What you are trying to define is a bad player who refuses to even try to learn how to play a game, because it would bruise their own ego if they admitted they weren't good at a game.

It's just 20 seconds that the gen is being blocked. That's not OP. Its the same skill checks that the glyph challenges have and no one complained about those. This perk will not be commonly used after the dust settles about Sadako.
1 -
I can hit the skill checks. Not always though. I almost hit them all completely just before the generator got done recently and I was super focused on it. They are pretty difficult to hit them all until the gen is done. I'm looking at this from a broader perspective. This perk is going to be highly effective in prolonging matches and getting more chases to happen. My concern with it is I feel like it is going to be too effective. I get the idea behind it, but when a perk is too effective it becomes problematic. Killers already have really guild anti gen builds available. I can only imagine what is going to be thought of now that this perk is out.

It's a tinkerer that procs at 90%, gives you no indication it's working, and rarely even works because people know how to press space.
3 -
Imagine calling a once per gen perk that can be easily countered and only lasts for 20 seconds when it procs OP...

These are literally taken from yellow glyphs. I had no problem with them so far. It's just 20s. If you mess up, go and hide if the killer comes and then complete the gen. Not that difficult. Dealing with Tinkerer (and Ruin/Pop) over and over is far more annoying. But even these perks are fine.

The better question is why you had faith in the devs implementing it and even less implementing it without something breaking or glitching out

Everything in this game is broken or gets broken at some point, that's just part of DbD. Anyway, hindsight is 20/20. My friend was an idiot for thinking BHVR would stick to the date they gave, and I was an idiot for letting him convince me it'd be good for us to have it on Switch because crossplay meant we could play the game together and I'd be getting a new PC in the near future which could run DbD so we'd finally get home from travelling and he'd play on the PS4 while I played on my computer with all the stuff I grinded out on the Switch and wouldn't that be fun? But, nope, that's obviously not how it turned out. I was negative about the game before but it has just gotten so much worse since purchasing it on the Switch: cross-progression canceled, Resident Evil tanked console performance which never fully recovered, Stranger Things gone so cross-progression is required if I want to have that DLC. The only good thing right now is that Elden Ring is also on the PS4 and my friend is playing that, which means I haven't had to play DbD since Elden Ring's release and that's fantastic.
Anyway, enough of that tangent. If (ugh, let's be honest, when) I get sucked back into playing DbD, I'll probably stick to mostly memeing, which is what I did already, but any match with Merciless Storm is going to have me and my friend throwing pebbles at each other until we die. If the other two survivors want to escape, the gens are their problem.

Merciless storm is really not OP, I don't think it needs to be changed at all. I think a lot of people will get used to the skill checks over time and you'll see it become less and less effective, I'm already starting yo hit the skill checks a lot more than I did on release . Both of onryo's other perks are more powerful imo.

Skill (check) issue. I play on switch and even I can hit merciless storm skill checks, so unless you too are playing the switch version (my condolences if this is the case) you shouldn't really have any problems doing that.
