Because some words should never be said, in any context, like slurs. There's absolutely no reason to use certain words except to explicitly hurt the other person, and these words can have a major effect.
The current filter is far too draconian, and blurs words it shouldn't while words it should are let fly. But some things should never be spoken, regardless of context and especially not over a damn video game. And if you're someone that says slurs when you're angry, then reevaluate yourself.

I always found it interesting (and by interesting I mean stupid) that kill and killer words used frequently in the game - one side is even named 'killer' is blanked out in chat.
Their filters make little sense. I guess we don't have adults playing this game according to BHVR - they have to censor everything.
They should just disable chat entirely if they are going to handle it like this.
