Fueling the spider fire
as many of us have noticed the charms for completing rift 10 levels are spider related. The level 4 charm being called "mother arachnid" with its description being "One day its spiderlings will spill across the realm" I think year 6 is going to have a giant spider killer. I think it could crawl up large walls and use a vault animation similar to Demo's. I love the idea of a new, nonhuman killer and would absolutely LOVE to see it in the upcoming year. What do you think? Comments are warmly welcomed.

Oh god, not only are there spiders but now they're on fire! A true nightmare scenario.

I hate spiders but Bruce Wayne hated bats. Would be cool if there was some kind of web based power.

Haven't the last three times have spider related charms and cutscenes

I WILL MAIN SPOODER

I hope they don't make her half humanoid, I wanna see a big monstrous tarantula :)

Unlikely.
There would be 5 'This Is Not Fine People Have Arachnophobia Be Better BHVR' thinkpieces penned on Kotaku within the day.

I think it will be a giant spider creature. That can jump, shoot webs and sacrifice using web sacs and not hooks

Well its a horror game, and theres a clown already. And the entity kinda is a spider already so I hope they don't be snowflakes about it and make the spider killer anyway :)
5 -
didn't they say the same thing about clown, yet they added a clown.
6 -
I have arachnophobia, bring it on. XD
2 -
Ah yes, I suppose I am a snowflake for literally throwing up at the sight of a spider. How dare I not wish to projectile vomit whenever I face this killer. What a snowflake.
1 -
I meant the devs being snowflakes for not adding it. If you throw up cause u see a spider in game tho ur kinda a snowflake, sry to say. Maybe don't play horror games
2 -
i guess we gotta cope

To be fair, BHVR has taken steps in the past to get feedback on things that bother players
Like I remember they asked people about Plague causing actual IRL discomfort and such, Clown's design also seems to be crafted in such a way that it avoids evoking usual coulrophobia.
If they do end up doing something like this, I'm confident it won't be as bad as we might think. That being said I also suffer from Arachnaphobia but I'm open to the idea anyway!

"Maybe don't play horror games"
I'm sorry, I didn't realise that the game that has been perfectly fine for almost 6 years suddenly becoming completely inaccessible to me overnight made me a snowflake because of something I physically can't control. Thanks for letting me know though, I'll make sure you're near me when I see a spider next time do you can get the puke 🥰

For a long time they didn't want to make a clown do to coulrophobia so...

I distinctly remember a dev stream where they said that they never said something like that.

Spider animatronic animated by voodoo.
It's the only way to give all 3 camps exactly what they think they are being teased.

if you have arachnophobia then why doesn't the entity's claw or the image for play with your food bother you?
1 -
PWYF Is a cartoon/stylised spider which is less likely to cause discomfort. At least for me, spiders don't really bother me if they are in a unique artstyle or are stylised in some way.
The entitys claw doesn't look exactly like a spider. Spiders have bodies and eyes for a start. It certainly resembles a spider in terms of the shape of the claws but, yeah.
Plus, there's more to it than things looking like spiders. For some people it's the way spiders move around etc. It's not the same for everyone

either way its whatever right? people are scared of clowns, nurses, doctors, ghosts and whatever. so i dont think a spider is that bad. especially if its more humanoid

I sympathize.
However, a lot of people have phobias. Of all sorts of things.
This does not mean that media needs to conform to account for every possible phobia, hell - even every common phobia. Because that would be absurd - especially considering that hemophobia is more common than the spider spookies. And yes, I realize that I'm behind the 8-ball here because we've already started down this very silly road.
As an aside: have you considered seeing someone about it? There are some very effective therapies for people with phobias that severe (the only person I've ever encountered with arachnophobia to the point where they would literally vomit when encountering a spider was essentially unable to conduct their life properly, as any spaces they couldn't see would be a maddening source of fear for them and anything that even looked like a spider had them scrambling into a different room).

If It is a spider that lays eggs... Then it reminds me of my own killer concept I expressed back in 2017 on the steam forums:
Albeit HEAVILY outdated by todays game and standards (especially the -20% movement speed for survivors who are Poisoned part, these days I'd make it a - 5% at most or 2% so that the new Boon could counter it), but It's still all there. A Spider-like villain who can crawl over walls/obstacles at a reduced movement speed, Lays eggs that if allowed to hatch and not crushed by survivors creates a large zone of spiderlings that poison survivors, and a new Status effect: Poison, In which survivors suffering this effect normally suffer it for only 9 seconds, but if they say, stay poisoned for 20 seconds (like lingering in a spiderling zone), they lose a health state. On top of that it slows their overall movement speed, so, trying to repair a gen in a spiderling swarm area = downed in 40 seconds. I'm not so sure on the perks, Obviously I'd have to update their descriptions for the current game, but I still feel I had good ideas on them, for both the killer and the survivor (though again, heavily outdated, and would need some serious adjustments).
As for the map... lets just say this was suggested long before the whole "Logan Paul" Debacle, and I'm sorry for mentioning it in the first place, much less suggesting that a survivor decide to end their own life in that infamous place (as so many others have) but instead end up taken by the entity. I want to formally apologize for that, and honestly have no defense other than, at the time of this concepts posting, it was the dark side of modern Japan that the Japanese knew about, but didn't want to acknowledge, and thus has incurred a substantial amount of feelings of dread and superstition that I thought would fit right in for a horror game, and I wanted to tap into that... I realize I was arrogant when I made the suggestion. Logan Paul was worse than me in his infamous videos, but not by much, and I am abhorred to think that I once thought this way because I was after the tense "Real World" horror, but neglecting in sympathy, for both the actual victims who lie in that forest, and for mocking it with my admittedly pathetic survivor concept.
As for anyone wondering why I was Banned from the Steam forums... I was Younger, and obviously SIGNIFICANTLY more stupid, and I told an admitted hacker on their own post, to do something that rhymes with "Cry in a Choir". I'm not proud of that, and have obviously learned my lesson.
Other than these things, I still think the Concept is great if outdated, and wonder if the devs, if they are planning on making a "Spider" killer, took any inspiration from it.

Oh no BHVR pls dont add a half naked spider woman, I'll be terrified
0 -
BHVR realized that a spider woman would be barefoot
0 -
sure, terrified 👀

Yes, I've considered it but considering some... rather awful past experiences, I genuinely do not trust anyone to help with this.

Id be scared stiff

I don't think it will be the anniversary, blight was teased 1 whole year before his release, so maybe later this year or the next.
