Adding a stamina mechanic for the survivors
Everyone that plays killer knows how frustrating that the survivors can hold their sprint with no punishment and make it to a pallet. So what if the survivors can run but for a short period amount of time. I think survivors can hold their sprint for 45 seconds, if they run longer than 45 seconds they will be hindered and exhausted for 10 seconds, but they can't run if they what to loose the hindered and recover their exhausted. This would solve the holding sprint problem and making survivors think more carefully if they want to use their exhaust perk.

There is no "holding sprint problem." You are 15% faster already, many killers even faster with their powers.

No that would kill the game. Killers already move faster then survivors and as they gain bloodlust they go faster. All a stamina system would do would make exhaustion perks useless and/or Survivors wouldn't be able to run because they used their exhaustion perk.

No. This way you cant just run eternallt while chasing. You would only have to find little moments to rest for a second before continiung. Which survivors already do, when they stand still waiting to see what you do.

I think you do not understand how many Survivor players play this game JUST to get into chases and "juice the killer".
You add a limitation to that, and you will have the Survivor population nosedive.

The developers don't make core changes like that, it's too much work and they're too afraid of messing something up. That's why we never got the game opening phase, generator fuel/parts, built-in key/mori mechanic, or any other cool ideas they've mentioned in the past. I'm sure all those ideas would be fun and make the game way less boring, but they never see the light of day because the developers are slower than smoke at implementing anything and everything they add to the game is just one more thing they have to balance/fix bugs for. I'd love for them to add any of these things but we're 6 years going strong still having nothing new that isn't tied to a perk, killer, challenge, or event, besides breakable walls, and those aren't even on every map, and they don't add much to the game besides basically being an unusable pallet

Not just survivors, good chases are literally the reason I play killer. If a nerf like this happens to survivors, it would sever my enjoyment of playing killer too

I don't like the current balance of time spent per chase, but just having a "you lose because you were doing too well" mechanic sounds terrible.

Exactly! You can lose exhaustion by letting go of shift or LB/L as well with vaults! As long as you aren't just hammering the run button, you'll be fine. It's kinda like what billy has. Only reason why I advocate for this is because they wanna do stuff that isn't fun anyways so why not, right?

I play a lot of killer and survivor for 2 years now. There is already a hidden stamina bar called time in every chase. The killer is faster then a survivor so time is the only resource that saves you from getting a hit. This stamina bar gets "reset" when you make it to a save pallet/loop and the killer can destroy that loop by breaking the pallet for ever other survivor. Adding an additional stamina bar would make chases boring and unfun. We already have Blight, who can hinder survivors with his add on, we have Clown and some other add ons that hinder you too - it is just boring not being able to avoid the hit because you can't move. A stamina bar might work in other games that are based around different objectives but in DbD it would shift the time resource too much into the killers favour.

Wouldn't mind something like that. Would be nice to see more teammates play mindfully than try to be in the killer's face needlessly throwing games early.

The change would be that actual thought would be applied before going on a map wide pallet tour. I think the necessity to break chase beyond just avoiding an injury/down would have a beneficial effect for everyone in a match.

Bloodlust does nothing for the killer vaulting windows, and it's lost after each pallet break. Bloodlust only works vs noobs or in dead zones without windows. It hardly ever helps

How so? From a survivor and killer point of view, the only fun thing for me is the chasing aspect of the game. Stealthing isn't fun for me, neither is a match full of stealth survivors. I really don't care how many kills I get - I mean, I usually 3k/4k most matches, but the looping is the most fun interaction between survivor/killer there is.
Holding w meta/predropping every pallet and survivors not looking behind them though, is the most boring part of the game hands down and it's honestly the only thing I truly dislike about playing killer

yeah this is baseless. No sprint action can really last long enough to cause a game breaking issue for killers. Killers are already faster, base speed, then you got sadako who gets an even bigger speed boost. Survivors who are familiar with maps will use the sprints to their advantage, as they should, but at the end of the day its ont inherently the sprint thats ruining it. It's the strategy you employ to pursuit said survivor.
likewise- i think a stamina mechanic would be a good idea, if its balanced for both killers and survivors. Perhaps the killer could recover quicker from missed attacks, but the more you chain back to back, the longer it takes for your stamina to rebuild back to full (much the same way the bleed out mechanic works, but opposite, sort of?)

Virtually the only fun I have in this game is going against good survivors that know how to run / loop. I'd rather spend a single match trying to catch a really good survivor than roll over 4 potatoes without effort. I don't even care if it costs me the game, because going against good players is how I myself get better too. So these "juicers" you talk about are actually my favourite survivors, because they give me a good challenge and a good game, regardless of how the game tells me I did at the end. I wish there were more competent survivors who know when and where to loop, because it's mad fun trying to catch 'em.
Also, the game already has a stamina system in place. We don't call it stamina, we call it exhaustion, but same concept. I think another stamina system on top of that would be seriously detrimental for the game. Just imagine you have a teammate hooked across a huge-a*s map, and you need to run across it to save the guy. Great, you're three quarters of the way to the hook and now you can't run anymore. You rescue the guy, but now you can't run away when the killer inevitably comes back to the hook. That seems like a poorly thought out idea.

The "Fatigued Running" is an unused Movement speed variable in Survivors.
The code specifying this variable mentions a stamina system that would go alongside this variable, indicating that at some point during Development, Survivors were not supposed to be able constantly run at full speed.
At one point this was tried out, and it turned out that it wasn't such a great idea after all, and the whole thing scrapped.

The mechanic you quoted didn't even make it into the release game, which is very different from 2022's Dead by Daylight.
It could be very well tried again, that's what PTBs are here for. Just because the mechanic apparently didn't fit the original DbD, doesn't mean it still won't fit modern DbD.

Yeah, there is a Stamina bar in Friday the 13th, along with other atmospheric factors like Fear and stumbling and broken twigs. The difference is that it works there because you have other means of defending yourself. The F13 equivalent of a pallet takes many hits to break, and you can arm yourself with everything from baseball bats to flare guns.
Here running is your primary defense. Take that away and people just die.

I'd honestly believe the addition of a stamina bar to the game for survivors isn't really needed. You said they have no punishment for using their exhaustion perks but they do! They suffer the exhaustion status effect and can't use it until they fully recover from the exhaustion status effect. Good effort for trying to think of an idea though!

Your idea is interesting, but you're using it the wrong way, what I already thought would be a maintenance in the injured state, for example, when injured the speed of the survs would be 3.8 (except for No mither) if I had a stamina it could influence the speed reduction when jumping windows and dropping pallets, a problem that this game has is that you seem to have more benefits injured than healed, a lot of things would require testing by the Devs, there are many status effects that make no difference to survs, like the hemorrhage could make the pain groans louder, deep wound doesn't activate perks that would work wounded (like iron will and dead hard) things like that i miss in the game

I said no punishment for holding their sprint. I didn't say anything about never getting punishment for using exhausted.
