Yet another Meta Thread

When was the last time you used Diversion?

When was the last time you had really fun rounds as a killer?

Let's face it, the meta in this game is predictable, boring & frustrating.

Out of a cycle of frustration, based on the other side using meta perks, you will use them yourself sooner or later.

Instead of being happy about getting a win with these perks, it frustrates you when you don't get a win, but when you get a win you know you were only carried by the perks. Sounds like loads of fun.

If you don't use meta perks, you get nothing from them. No bonus blood points, no pips & certainly no Xp due to the opposite side's meta. Is it fun? With a 4 swf, non-meta perks can be fun, but not for the killer, where we'd be right back where we started.

I can't even be mad at the survivor or the killer anymore because I know both sides and how ridiculous the rounds can end when there aren't 20 meta perks. (I hadn't had a single round in my almost 600 hours where everyone had a meme build)

I know it feels very humble to lose but shouldn't a game be fun first and foremost?

I want to mention that I don't want to see a nerf in the perks, just a reward for using perks that are outside the meta and some kind of loss for using perks inside the meta.

Basically so that people without meta perks get more blood points and those with meta perks get less.

There are 197 perks in the entire game and yet you might see a fifteenth of them. If I were the developer I would feel very disappointed.

Now that I've vented my frustration, I'd be interested to know what you think of the current state of the meta.

While it's nice to see the nearly despised perks getting some attention, changing the meta isn't really a solution. there will always be a meta, and it will always be boring and rigid. The problem is not that there is a meta, in my opinion, the problem is that there is hardly anything else.

It's that vicious cycle. "Could've escaped/killed had I had xyz perk" next match run meta. It's difficult to get out of that mindset and be okay with losing (whatever that term means to you)

All my survivors run different builds that break the meta (except meg, she's my 2nd chance build)

    Examples

    Power struggle build

    Healing build (I love autodidact)

Foot fetish build (perk icon has picture of feet)

And I just cycle through my survivors as I play

Most people just want to escape or kill no matter what. Depending on which side is played, it counts as a win or a lose. True to the motto: I do as the MMR says

I'm also preparing a few more outside meta builds right now, there's really a lot of options if you want them to. Interesting idea with the foot fetish build, just put something together using the icons.

Oh for sure, I do the opposite of MMR. As killer I just want hooks and bps, as survivor I want good chases or at least interact with the killer, usually ending with death. I'll gladly take build ideas because some of my survivors don't have any equipped

tbf this is something EVERY online game struggles with. Its not really the games fault if ppl decide to only use the best out of best. Its a problem of the players, yes you can try to nerf the meta but as you said there is always a meta and its in the end up to the ppl what they choose.

I try best to use as many different perks as possible. I have made a rule for myself to only use at most one meta perk and it has made games more enjoyable as well as forced me to get better at the game.

Nice to hear about people getting used to other perks aswell, every lobby i'm in has like at least 3 meta perks on everyone

at least nobody is expecting the pebble i guess

The only time I feel bad as a survivor, or feel bad for other survivors, is when they're getting face camped against an instadown killer or they're getting farmed/tunneled, because that's literally them not being able to do anything. But as killer? That's every match. Didn't pick the right perks, killer, add-ons etc, so you auto-lose. And even if you did? Probably still lose.
