Is Call of Brine too oppressive for new players?
It reveals your location EVERY time you hit a 'good' while it's active!
I'm having Ruin flashbacks!

No cause you can just tap the gen and stop the regression instantly. Also it only lasts 60 seconds so if you tap the gen and the 60 seconds are up then nothing will happen. Call of Brine is a very underrated perk

The whole game is too oppressive for new players.

Of all the things that stomp on new players this does not even crack the top 25.

Nah just tap it and leave lol

It's pretty nasty when paired with PGTW. That's how I use it.

It is but that’s true of a lot of things in this game.
DBD is not “new-player friendly” and doesn’t do a good job of teaching players how to play effectively and how to loop. The tutorials barely get you started and nothing more.

Not really... Yea it does show the Gen that the Survivor is on but it doesn't show the Survivor themselves
And Gen Tapping is even better for it

that's total overkill, might as well banish the gen to the shadow realm cause it ain't going to recover from that.

It is but it’s fun. Yesterday I did gen-destroyer Wraith with double shadowdance, pop, brine, eruption, and oppression.

I don't think Call of the Brine is any worse for new players than some of the other tracking perks. Merciless Storm I think is closer to old Ruin - if old Ruin skill checks were considered too difficult for new players then Merciless Storm has to be terrible for them.

I use Merciless Storm and you'd be amazed how often those generators get blocked. If I grab a yellow glyph and throw one at a survivor it should count as a Mori.

Every killer perk is oppressive for new players.

This doesn't hurt new players. Hex: Huntress lullaby hurts them (and only them, let's be real) I only cleanse it if I have crappy teammates who miss them. Veterans tend not to care.

It's hard for most perks to not be oppressive to new players.
Call of Brine does not by itself win new killer games against new survivors. New survivors are still capable of progressing the gens against Call of Brine.

Yes. A perk like that should never exist. It's almost like new survivors are forgotten. They are supposed to simply queue up and lose every match.

What exactly IS an acceptable Killer perk?
0 -
Without the notification maybe? It's like two perks in one.
1 -
No. You can easily determine that it's in play and take counterplay steps accordingly.
It's a solid perk on mobile killers (I love it on Wraith), but it's no stronger than Ruin or PR.
For Sluzzy?
Distressing. Maybe. If that's the only perk equipped and the killer AFKs for 30 seconds at the start to compensate.

New killers are not using this perk lol. They are going for garbage perks, best perk on new killers is NOED. If MMR gets fixed and new killers faces with new survivors, there will not be any problem.
1 -
No, because the killer has to stop and kick the gen every time they want to reapply it. Either they chase you because they found you on the gen, or they reapply Call of Brine, they can't realistically do both, so either they chase you and a teammate can repair the gen unhindered, or they reapply CoB which gives you plenty of time to go to a different gen.
It's not like old ruin which penalised every good skill check on every gen at once, and prevented gens getting repaired, being locked behind a kicking action makes it a mediocre benefit at best.

They'll lose to NOED then. Even fully perked survivors can't finish 5 gens, much less do 5 totems.
1 -
Actually this is first time i agree with you. NOED should go.

Rauin flashbacks lol.Does it makes skillchecks harder.becuz it dont regress if you hit a good skillcheck
0 -
More likely people are sissies nowadays.Everything is difficult.if you had to hit great skillchecks to actually does not explode the gen thats difficult and skillfull.
Dark souls doesnt seems a hard game for me

Yes. It inversely affects new players much worse than seasoned players and I'm surprised the developers actually did it since they gave that exact reason for nerfing Ruin.

I like using Call of Brine probably a bit more than Ruin. It gives some of the same advantages of Ruin but can’t be permanently destroyed and gives ok info on gens that are actively being worked on.
It’s not a silver bullet though, like other said survivors can still tap a gen to stabilize it, so if don’t notice there’s a survivor near the gen when you kick it they can halt the regression. Of course, if they actively work on it they can trigger the notification, so that does come with a little risk. And personally I like to pair Call of Brine with Pop or maybe Dragon’s Grip or Eruption, etc, so I get double benefit from a single kick. (Dragon’s Grip has some interesting synergy because it makes survivors either become Exposed if they try and tap the gen or they stay off the gen and it’s like you’ve kind of blocked them from touching it for at least 30 seconds.)
So it’s a pretty solid perk, probably not overpowered though and Ruin is still more powerful IF it stays up long enough.
