Idea to stop flashlight abuse. (clicking)
So I think we can all agree that when people abuse their flashlight with macro's or just are clicking in general are really annoying. Why not make it so whenever you don't hold it but click your flashlight you lose 1% charge. If someone is using a macro their flashlight will be depleted in seconds. Just use it the way it's supposed to be used!
Edit: Because some people can't think about this themselves, I'll add this here: Some people that suffer from epilepsy can get epileptic seizure from this and it's not just annoying but can actually cause health issues. If you really think I let anyone make me mad in this game then I have to disappoint you...š

Macros?

Yes, it's really annoying. It makes it so survivors can click their flashlight extremely fast. I don't really know how to explain it but I'm sure if you search for it on YouTube you can find it.

Nah, clicking FL is really useful for getting survs attention.
Maybe add a snap fingers emote instead?

You don't need a macro to get a survivor's attention with the flashlight.
There's absolutely no reason the flashlight should be able to be clicked as fast as it can other than to annoy people.

Disagree, it's useful. I click at the surv not the killer.

Actually, it is handy getting other survivors attention.

You can get someone attention without a macro. You do not need a macro to click a 100 times in a second to get someone attention.
I do not understand how this is hard to warp your head around.

Ahhh that's how they do it? Yes I hate that

Yesss, It's so loud and unnecessary. š¬

A Macro is when you program a key to do multiple things when pressed. You can make a macro to type a sentence, run a program, press multiple keys at once, etc., or in this case, click the flashlight key as fast as possible. It's basically a full-auto button for the flashlight.

Thank you, this is a great explanation.

Agreed, they should limit the flashlight sound to only trigger once or twice per second. Even as a signal to other survivors thereās no need for it to be so fast with a macro it sounds like an old dialup modem.

Using the flashlight macro could also cause severe health issue for other players. With this in the game it is completely off limits for epilepsy sufferers

Isn't all video games off limits to epilepsy sufferers.

It's really not that big of a deal. If you're getting frustrated at them clicking and/or tbagging you, then it's working because this is EXACTLY why survivors do it.
They do it to annoy you so that you play bad and commit to them. A crappy tactic yes, but it's an effective one.
Leaving a survivor who is annoying you with it is not a shameful thing to do, it can hurt the killer's pride of course but you have to try to work through it. It happens to us all, learn to keep your cool and remember that it's just a video game and get those irritating survivors.

People really wake up and think this is a good idea that the devs need to jump on

Please say this to the people that suffer from epilepsy because of some kids that abuse flashlights. It's a serious problem for more people then you think. But i guess all you think about is yourself...

Dbd just has to add a warning on the game or a accessibility option to do with it lmaooo if you are talking about health issues there is easier and more apparent ways to solve it besides "can you devs pls add a thing to stop clicky clicky becuz it mean :((("

I edited my post.š Please take your hate somewhere else tho.

thank god you edited it after loads of replies š
if you think criticism on a post you made asking for thoughts on an idea is someone bringing hate then clearly you didn't actually want responses on your idea and just wanted people saying yes lol it is a silly idea for a problem that wasn't apparent in your original post but now that the post IS about epileptic problems, it still doesn't solve the issue as technically people could still spam 100 clicks or more before running out of battery, still causing harmful reactions.
Once more, if the issue you have with it is health issues, dbd needs to add accessibility options for people at harm, not an idea that just...makes doing it run out faster?

I don't mind it. It's annoying, yes, but if they do it while I'm already chasing someone else, it's a big "hey I'm better at chases than whoever you're going after, come after me instead!" sign, so I know I have the right target and keep chasing whoever I was already after.
And if they do it while they're the ones being chased, I take it as a challenge to see them hanging on the hook. And often, they get too cocky with their clicking mid-chase.
They could make it so a flashlight can't be clicked more than a few times per second, to match how realistically someone could right click their mouse without a macro, but it doesn't really change anything about the gameplay, so they won't bother doing it.

You call this feedback?
''People really wake up and think this is a good idea that the devs need to jump on''

Just remove the light effects from quick clicks for the photosensitivity issue as that's the an actual issue that can pretty easily be fixed. By all means let the beam/effects smoothly "solidify" when actually doing a killer blind, as that's not a sudden rapid flash of light or anything that should cause photosensitivity issues as far as I know.
That's the only real issue though.

How many killer-players really want flash-light clicking removed because it hurts their feelings but are saying they want it removed because of "epilepsy".

if it makes you feel better, the post originally just wanted it gone because they found it annoying but after I called that out they edited the post to say it was actually about epilepsy.
Still doesn't make it a good idea lol

It's just aggravating because a lot of these posts you can tell are people using epileptics as a way to push an agenda.
To be honest, I didn't think epileptics could play video games much less a video game with killers like "The Doctor" and "Sadako", stages with blacks and bright lights, flashlights in general, etc etc.
