Game doesn't look scary
Everytime i go on DBD i think about how the game used to look and how scary the atmosphere used to be. I feel like it no longer is a horror game. I have been playing on and off ever since 2017 but the last time i actually enjoyed the game was probably before the new animations were added.
The maps are soooo bright nowadays, and the fog is non existent. The old sounds when you used to load into a game were removed and it all feels like you went out to take a walk somewhere, rather than the horror game it was designed to be.
Don't even get me started on the new animations, i cannot believe the injured animation still hasn't gotten changed! It looks like the survivors haven't taken a sh1t in a long time. The new running one looks like you are jogging with your dog. And you no longer look around when standing still... i mean the survivors aren't even scared anymore.
Trickster looks like a fashion icon rather than a killer, coldwind and eyrie maps are too bright to even stealth on. New badham and new autohaven look like a dollhouse.. the maps dont even look real.
I just miss the old nice animations and the old maps darkness.
Bring back the moon bouqet offerings, make coldwind and eyrie night maps again and bring back the old animations or fix the new ones.. I want to play the scary game that i paid for.
On a positive note: the new haddonfield looks amazing.

Still dislike the way they reworked the atmosphere on coldwind

Coldwind has a Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe now I love how it looks

Yeah removing the fog and brightening up the maps was a huge mistake. The game essentially killed its own artstyle

Exactly, this is the one map where I feel the design direction was substantially improved. The rest? I kind of prefer the older ones, even if I wasn't around back then to enjoy them. They were just more varied and atmospheric.

I miss the color hues like the blue and green ones of some of the old maps!

Hahah exactly. The old maps were beautiful

I think the maps play great and look great, but I do agree they are not spooky any more.
Gone are the days of seeing a shadow between the trees and wondering what it was.

I think it is because you've played the game too much and therefore are nok spooked by it anymore. I remember my first game, I thought it was so scary haha. Now, nothing is scary because the game is just a routine..

I started playing as the same time as you. Let me tell you something : this is nostalgia.
Dbd has never been scary at all. There is some jumpscares like Hag or Ghostface. But the game wasnt scary at all.
It was just because you discovered the game.
The game is better now.

Animations really need a lot of work on the survivor side.

I'm all with you except on the trickster one. He looks like a kpop artist because he is one. Not every killer is a big brutal hunk of meat covered in mud and blood. If they designe a more monster like killer it should look scary like blight does but he is just a guy that likes killing just like legion they aren't scary if you don't have a really bad mask phobia same goes for Michael. Look at some real life killer most of them look like average Andy darmer for example was a monster but he wasn't a bit scary looking

I understand where you are coming from but i have never been a fan of the bright and shiny cosmetics here. Im probably never gonna like the tricksters aesthetic but i will have to live with that.

Well that's okey I think that's just youre personal preference if its about all the colorful stuff. Im maybe a bit quick to defend trickster because of the hate he often gets from the we need manly man killers side of the community

I say good riddance to the old aesthetics.
The sooner the realm beyond is completely done, the better.

I 100% agree with this post. I bought the game when it first came out, and it, unfortunately, was a bit of a mess so it sat on my steam shelf until 2021 when some friends brought it back for me and I tried again. I enjoyed myself more but the atmosphere, one of the only things I liked about it originally was all gone.
I want maps to be moody and spooky again, I want the spooky sfx, I want the creepy fog and moonlight shining down through the trees. I want to at least FEEL like I'm in some kind of nightmare slasher realm. The animations also need to be reworked from their rework! I think they look a bit better in like, quality of their make, but the design of them doesn't feel good anymore. I miss the old survivors looking around scared, the more desperate looking running animations, etc.
