remember the original legion concept, where they could impersonate survivors?
it was obviously scrapped because you could tell no one in your lobby looked like that.
but what about a killer who takes the appeareance of a survivor supernaturally? as in, he literally looks like that survivor -cosmetics and all- transforming himself with m2 like wrait's stealth?
i feel like you could do pretty cool things with it. perhaps even unlock 3rd person view and survivor actions but with different outcomes, for example: you work with another survivor on a gen and after 5 seconds a difficult skillcheck appears to them, with the same effect as pop if they fail it.
or, impersonate an injured survivor, and if someone tries to heal you they get exposed and you unmask immediatly.
i feel like it would bring new elements to the game, as in survivors not trusting eachother or when doing so, taking a risk. it would be realistic, lore speaking. i don't think survivors would just collaborate that easily. a normal looking person could very much be a killer in the entitiy's realm. trickster, legion, pig, etc... all look like normal humans.
would it work? would it be healthy? what would a mechanic like this need to be implemented correctly, and also, how could it function against a 4sfw? even though those seem to be an ingrained problem regardless of the topic.

This idea has come up a few times. I can't see how it could work as SWF could easily see that it's not an actual survivor.

Eliminate SWF.

While unique concept, it would never worked. SWF groups exists.

It wouldnt work for killers, but a survivor perk that let you and another survivor swap appearances would a neat anti tunnel perk

I'd hate the idea of working on a generator as a Killer, especially to give a difficult skill check that no one will fail.
Like, instead of chasing someone, I'm helping them?
Also, solo Q is already selfish enough, so if you add more reasons to be...
As Mandy said, SWF will immediately know.
I don't know. I think no one would play a Killer who has the power to waste even more of their time not countering the Survivors.

The Impersonator concept works better if they can become different killers with use of their powers almost like Tsang Tsung from mortal kombat as survivors with communication can easily ruin the concept
3 -
that could never be implemented in the game though, it would be more like a survivor power rather than perk. unless one day they do that, and differentiate each survivor with a power + stats (running speed, vaulting speed, repair speed). that would only happen in a hypothetical dbd2 though, the entire game would need to change.
this is off topic but i'd love to see it, instead of seeing always the same survivors. (also would change the meta, most survivors have the same copy and paste build while killers see more variety, for obvious reasons.)

Remove SWF, add Nosk.
You know you want to I think.

god, can you imagine GF stealth then change to bubba

you just have to be creative though. what if it regressed all existing generators at the same speed as repairs? imagine, another survivor sees you already working on that gen, you do the pointy emote, so they leave and look for another one. little do they know.
it would also imply that a gen being worked on by a single survivor would be frozen. this would incentivate survivors to work on gens as 2, all while not knowing if their partner is actually the killer who is gonna jump them or a legit survivor. giving you overall either an insane better than ruin slowdown, or a hit/down with no chase.

No no no, but I'll play devil's advocate here...
Maybe we try a weekend where no more than two survs can group up? Kinda like the no Bloodlust experiment a while back? Or during a special PTB? See the results and effects on the playerbase?
I'm not optimistic, but we haven't tried it either.

Still a waste of time if I have to work on a generator to regress it. Better using Call of Brime: one kick, 200% regression, notification if someone get a skillcheck... But until someone touches it, I can do Killer's things.
If I wanna repair generator, I play Survivor. I understand the idea but I think even Myers would be considered a top tier Killer compared to this one.
People already complain because some Killer's power have nothing to do with chase. So, when you're not repairing a generator, you're a simple M1 Killer?

im just throwing random concepts around to see if an impostor type of killer could be implemented and how the mechanics would work. dont think too much about the balance of it. that wasnt the point

My point was to give my opinion.
But if we forget about balance, it's a nice idea for solo Q.

SWF would have an easier time figuring out who the impo- I mean killer is, but it would still be really fun to play, and the SWF would only be able to counter it as fast as they can pass information - if they even do.
2 -
that's a cool concept. i could really see a killer like that perhaps with a theme concerning mirrors and reflections, someone who didnt like his appearance when alive. possibly male to subvert some stereotypes.

Matchmaking would never pair that killer against SWF.
1 -
SWF is already destroying most killers.
Glad you guys know that and sad because team is not doing anything for this.
1 -
The only sensible option is to remove SWF :p
1 -
I've seen lots of these concepts with "pretend to work on a gen."
What game are you playing that you have time as killer to sit around pretending to do things so that someone will maybe walk right up to you and die? Cos it certainly isn't DBD.

Make SWF use Custom Game in 4mans.... Easy solution to giving Killers a lot more power. I highly doubt ANYONE BUT SWF would object to that...

How about instead of impersonating, they can possess survivors without them knowing, seeing through their eyes and pinpoiting their location.
Or at least add all the 4 Legion members in the game and make it so 3 of them can only use feral frenzy and injure survivors, never down, and only 1 of them can m1 them to get the down.

So killers playing fair get's tricked into tunneling 😀
What about a killer that switches to another killer at random any time a gen gets done? Fancy being chased by Hag in the open and a gen pops..hello Bubba! Yeah would not work probably but sounds fun. Lot's of fun things could be done, but often there are things making it hard to get it to work.

If you eliminate swf then you eliminate half the players amount.
