This game is gonna lose its playerbase if they dont deal with hackers

I know its been said so many times before but the amount of hackers right now in the game and the stuff they can do is enough to ruin everyone games on a daily basis.

No matter how much I love this game and its concept, there's just no game to enjoy if it keeps being ruined by hackers and other issues dbd is suffering from but I think the hackers are the biggest problem right now.

No one wants to play a game infested by hackers.

The playerbase will just flock to other new upcoming games of its genre that doesn't have the issues dbd has because of its engine and code limitations.

I will still play dbd but until they fix the hacker problem i'll only play kyf, when there's an event or just to log in to get the login rewards or redeem a code. The game has already a lot of issues but hackers is the last straw for me that shreds any kind of fun left in this game for me.

I don't really mind the funny hackers, like the famous Ghostface Huntress, which just goof around harmlessly, taking people for a ride around the Entity's realms skies.

I've had many flying Billies, being the absolutely fabulous falling stars from Macmillan's sky.

I've had 2 killer games, where they decided to fight against themselves, amusing their survivors.

But then there's the Epic Games cheaters, who got 1000 free DBD copies and decided to make everyone's lifes miserable, holding games hostage, crashing people's games, forcing people to DC and take the punishments they don't deserve.

I just finished playing DBD for today after having 6 games in a row with cheaters. 4 of them were flying Claudettes/Megs holding the game hostage, 1 of them was a flying Pinhead, and 1 was an AI Spirit who ended the game in like 20s.

It was just few games, but those happen every day to me and my friends. It's exhausting..

I still don't understand why they gave out for free "infinite" number of accounts to hackers with Epic game deal.

I quess money / marketing are better than game health.

Yeah, its times like this I wish I could opt out of the PC platforms. It's kinda sad I even have to think that but sadly PC tends to just ruin the experience due to the mass amount of cheaters, this goes for any game even coop ones...

The worst part is how can people with game knowledge identify people cheating, even when they're subtle about it but a system cant?

I thought a system to track the obvious hackers would be simple, or even to track the players stacking the same perk or running more than 4.

Seems to me not enough time is spent on anti cheat, and it to the point you deal with it or stop playing or you'll wait ages with Crossplay off

Console crossplay walled off from PC would make me so happy. I hate playing against PC players but I have no choice because otherwise I have to wait 60 minutes for a match because I'm on PS5

Me too, it's a shame it comes to wanting that. It's one reason I never want a pc for gaming, screw dealing with cheaters on every game.

Had to turn crossplay of on tiny tinas wonderlands to stop people with hacked/modded gear joining

Honestly I think this hacker infestation is a good thing. Either bhvr fixes the issue and the game improves or they don't and the game dies. Appreciate your customers or find another job.

The best they can do now is refine there report system and go on ban sprees. Send feedback to the players who successfully reported the player so there encouraged to continue. Yes the accounts are still free but the added email paperwork setting up multiple accounts will have some detering effect.

I agree, there's no reason to play this game anymore,I need to find something else.

VHS and Midnight Ghost hunt look cool.

I understand the fact that cheaters are annoying, i agree with the fact that these days we see more cheaters than before but guys, is it not too much drama around this ?

I mean, last 4 days i have played 20 hours (half killer/half surv) and i haven't faced any cheater (i play on PC with crossplay). With my 2000h on DbD (started in 2017 though), i have faced maybe 10 blatant cheaters, others, if they exist, were really slight one as it was impossible to notice it.

I dunno if some of you have played R6S and Warzone but there were cheaters everywhere, in almost every games, it is not the case with DbD.

And be sure there will be the same amount of cheaters in VHS an Propnight already has many cheaters, even more than DbD (100 hours and already faced like 3 or 4 cheaters).

You see, when this game was first prototyped, they used a single player game as the basis and then expanded it to run on lan. They probably thought they would change the engine by the time it went on beta but for whatever reason (probably cash related) they had to stick with the same prototype build even after release. It used to be that literally everything was stored in the player's machine (in a plain .txt file, no less) so "hacking" the game to give yourself anything you wanted was essentially just editing the files in notepad.

They revamped a lot of the most glaring issues by now, but to this day a whole lot of the info still comes from the player's own machine. So I hack my game so that it tells the server that I am moving at 150% speed, the server simply accepts it and runs with it. That's why hacking in this game is so easy, there is very little server-side validation going on.

They have been running the game on bubble gum and spit for years now and have accumulated a lot of tech debt due to their shoddy practices and spaghetti code, so fixing everything is going to take way more effort than BHVR is likely willing to put forth.

Cheats will always be present, the VHS security issue was not about cheating, it was like the DbD security issue.

VHS won't be able to counter cheating if they do not have a good kernel 0 anticheat and they don't plan to use such anticheat. Their anticheat is a regular one so EAC or PB or VAC. Maybe they coded their own but i highly doubt it.

To make it short, there will be as many cheaters as in other games : Apex, DbD, Pubg etc...

Do not expect too much about them regarding the anti-cheat efficiency, they are a small company with small capabilities.

Cheating is something you need to be used to as it is and will be everywhere. It's a market with hundreds of millions of $ a year...

Scroll the forums threads on first page. Only 1 even with a BHVR response and its nothing to do with anything.,

We all know they have people crawling all social media, twitch chats, twitter all day,... wonder how long they gonna pretend its not happening.

Companies would earn more without hackers in their game.

Everyone wants to play a game without hackers.

Ye well, seeing how DbD is a golden goose, they should fix it cause DbD's future is still super bright if they do the good choices.
