MMR
İ have just 1100 hours in dbd.i wonder why do i keep matchmaking with 7, 8k hours survivors ? even i lost few matches on purpose but dbd still matchmaking me with them..i couldnt get even +1 progress. this month my all matches was soo hard to me. i dont think there is any balance in dbd lobby. just fix it

To be honest if you have 1k hours you should be able to play well enough. If not, i dont know what you did all this time.

i play well but not with all killer also how can i be as good as them..u think that really balanced ? and i dont play all time
1 -
Because many of those 7-8k survivors are lowering their MMR. I used to get many matches where survivor SWF would destroy me, then refuse to leave after opening the gates. They clearly won, but lowered their MMR.
MMR is easier to game than ranks were. With ranks, you could not do much without zero pip'ing. Now, you can run the killer forever, do 5 gens, 5 totems, open gate, refuse to leave and lower MMR while leaving with 25k bp. Absolutely insane.

Interesting…smh.

I suspect the MMR soft cap presents more problems than it solves. Whenever I read something like this, I suspect the survivors were rounded down to the soft cap for matchmaking purposes.
For example: 1800 killer+1900 survivor is probably reasonable. But 1800 killer+2200 survivor (softcapped at 1900) is a huge mismatch.

how can i lower my mmr as killer ? i ask that because i m bored to play tryhard.. its soo tiring u know :D
0 -
Yes.
Moreover i highly doubt that the best killer player is able to get a MMR as high as good SWFs. Indeed, good SWFs are almost unbeatable. I don't even know if it is possible for a killers to stay around 1900 MMR as higher off cap MMR survivors will face those killers on a regular basis.

BTW,
- 8 months that this MMR is around
- 8 months that everyday killers are saying it became unplayable
- 8 months that killers are forced to camp/tunnel
- 8 months that the survivors complain about this
- 8 months that everybody, EVERYBODY i know hate the SBMM
- 8 months that the playerbase is decreasing
- 8 months that survivors get 10 minutes queues in the evening
- 8 months of negative feedbacks on this forum, on steam, on reddit and Twitter
But the SBMM is still enabled. Either BHVR doesn't understand anything either they don't care but don't say you haven't heard us... Many other developpers are way more reactive when the community is complaining massively.

Obviously forum are far less of the playerbase than you might think.
And also enough people still play.
I don´t like MMR either.
1 -
Eh. The stars have to align for a good SWF to face a really good killer due to how the population balance is. There are only so many killers queued up at any given time. So for every 10 top 5% survivor teams you might have 1 killer in queue who can 4k and a handful of other killers who will struggle but maybe not embarrass themselves.
Ultimately, it's all speculation until we get hard numbers or stats to back anything up.

People drown themselves in losses and lower their mmr to not get sweaty and have easier games, mb

Unrelated question. Is Sandstone your favourite Minecraft block?

lol i didnt even know there is sandstone in minecraft xD

I play both sides, but when I play survivor, I really dont care about escaping. I try to have fun chases and if I get killed no worries. THIS is how majority of high MMR survs play, they dont care if they get out so you end up with tons of good sruvivors who have a lower MMR than they should.
Which is what makes MMR silly imo.
Watch some good survs play on stream, they dont care if they escape or not, in fact, the old days people would meme all game then die on purpose even if they got the gate, so theyd keep playing lower ranked killers.
been a thang

There is. And you can make stairs, slabs and all kinds of things with it. Good for desert buildings or beach stuff :D

It also explains why, after getting bodied by 8-10k hours Nurses and Blights for several games, my teammates suddenly get better despite me having a significantly lower MMR score which would in theory mean that I should play with and against less qualified players.

I imagine that they have invested to much time/money/work into the whole mmr thing to simply drop it. So they´ll try to find a way to make it work.
At least thats what i would do.
0 -
Just don't kill anybody. Play the match normally, but don't hook anybody a 3rd time.
1 -
Having a SBMM based on only escapes is the biggest issue at hand.
I'd also take note the past few weeks have had mmr tests on, these weeks have been the most horrible for me as killer... survivors been a cake walk
1 -
Might be a noob question, but whats the point of having the ranks if they're not reflective of mmr?
1 -
i ll try thank you ^^

It's more of a seasonal ranking than anything, the game wants to reward you for playing a lot so that you are more likely to play more.
0 -
I feel like it's more confusing that way, and I'd feel more rewarded if it was treated as normal ranking system per season.
Honestly I just wanna know exactly what determines mmr.
2 -
I have never seen Survivors who waited until EGC to lower their MMR. But the general nature of the DBD-"SBMM" makes it that good Survivors can have a lower Rating.
You can be a really good Looper, this does not help if you die in the end due to NOED. Or if you are an altruistic player, if you rather help someone else to get out, your MMR will be lower. Because it does not factor Skill in the slightest.
@Topic:
More hours does not really mean that they need to be more skilled. E.g. I have over 7k hours, but I lose to Killers or Survivors who have way less than me. It is not the case that hours correlate with skill, a player who plays a lot will not be better the more they play. I have seen players with 12k hours who are not really good at the game.

How do I get matched with good survivors in my first 4 games ever playing as Trickster? Your MMR is trash. Put it in the bin.
2 -
Because the first games your Rating will be around the same like your usual rating. It would not be fair if you would start at the lowest rating and it would completley clock the low SBMM-Matchmaking when a new Killer is released.
0 -
Oh that makes sense. Rough though!
0 -
I mean, the system is not working properly anyway. Because apparently it takes quite a long time until you are in an area where you can actually learn the Killer without having rough games.
But overall the MMR is flawed, because it only factors Kills and Escapes. The only positive I have seen so far is that Adepts for Killer are easier when you get reset to Ash 4 each month.
0 -
The problem isn't the MMR itself.
No MMR can work with an unbalanced game.
0 -
I don´t like it.
Not very good games today for me.
The reason why it doesn´t work properly doesn´t really matter in the end. It is not good with matching players approprietly.
1 -
I have seen it in more matches then I care to recall. 5 gens done, gates open and 3 survivors refuse to leave. They die and lose MMR.
0 -
İ just wonder cheaters mmr high ? because they often comes my lobby as survivor
0 -
How many hours you have =/= how good you are.
Do you think you are better at 1100 hours than at 1000 hours?
0 -
1540 for now . and i dont know it would be wrong for me to interpret myself according how i play.
