dead hard and co really isnt that bad(as killer)

I dont have crazy hours in dbd like some people, probably 500 hours with 450 hours being survivor. i had a several year break from the game, before dead hard and boons and all the rest were big things.

I saw all the complaints and just assumed what a horrible thing to go against. so initially as i started to play killer recently primarily I was quickly dishearted and tilted as such perks would absolutely annhilate me and i did feel it was unfair and was absolutely hating killer. but as i started to learn the killer game and the particular killers i like i realised that it really is not that bad at all.

  1. most dead hard users do bad-mediocre on their DH decisions. its also not very common I encounter a full stack DH team(but im probably medium mmr, not high mmr) I after learning the killer game have never felt DH lost me games
  2. CoH isnt even that annoying most of the time. Its not crazy common someone runs it and you can easily hear it when its up. My issue is how finicky it is to get the prompt to snuff it making me lose valuable seconds.
  3. 3. BT is annoying but I understand why it exists. there are plenty of killers who are too afraid to leave the hook more than 5 feet. Im ok with camping(face camping is lame and boring for everyone) but I think proxy camping is infinitely superior, gives survivors a chance to play, still gives you chances to check nnearby gens and quickly come back on an unhook to take your pick of 2 juicy targets. Lots of people dont even run the perk anyways, so I also dont find it that bad. If everyone ran that one I would be miffed.
  4. pallets stopped annoying me so much once i learned i could get annoyed at the god loop for 30 seconds a survivor forces me on or i take 2 seconds and break a pallet and force a move and also have cleared a spot for someone else to find out there is no safety there. I do hate shack tho, if im not trapper. if a surv runs to shack ill usually just abandon and go elsewhere
  5. clicky clicks and vault spammers. I do DESPISE clicky clicks in your face because im sensitive to strobes but those who do it at the ground to get your attention, doesnt bother me. maybe i didnt even see you and now i heard you. and i can quicly rationalise if your desire to get my attention is because you want me to move away from a gen or hook. If thats the case, click away, ill ignore you. clicky click doesnt do objectives. vault spammers i almost always ignore. your literally advertising to me that you arent doing objectives and usually no where near a gen. vault away. your dead weight and i can ignore you while i can focus on the ones playing. or the ones who try and save hook.

What loses me games is the fact i am so utterly bad at hitting people, i have a 60-70% hit rate when M1. THAT loses me games but is my own fault. i also very easily lose peoples tracks or get turned around and dont know what direction someone went. also my fault, not survs.

What does tilt me is the show off, tbaggers at the end. When you have the gates open just leave instead of rubbing it in my face. But now if the gates are open and i know they are there i just go away and they can tbag by themselves. thanks to all survs who are sportsmanlike

Playing killer IS stressful in a way survivor doesnt come close to. but stop thinking you have to get 3-4ks each game. I look at it, if i get 1 or 2ks i win. i did my job. With that attitude i noticed 3 and 4ks happen more often because my negative emotions about 4 gens down and 0ks no longer cloud my judgement and cause me to make even poorer decisions.

of course it sucks and feels terrible when you get 0ks in a game but i view it as, my MMR just dropped a bit increasing the chance im gonna get a 3-4k game next time.

This has so greatly improved my enjoyment of playing killer, to where ill have ok or 1k, have someone down and let them go. if i start taking my enjoyment in the fun of playing WITH survivors and not against them like an enemy So much tension melts away and they and i have a better time.

It makes me happy when survivors tell me at the end they enjoyed the game. In that way i did my job, of course im supposed to kill them all, but if i kill everyone or kill no one and neither side has fun then whats the point. play for fun and then there is no need for toxicity.

maybe im just not high enough in MMR to truly see the complaints people have but this is my hot take anyways.

I dont see it in every game or on every survivor. it may exist in many games, but not every single person runs it, and when its been used, its used. and as mentioned above many people dont even do a good job of using it, DH into objects, or in directions that don't give much distance. Its also fairly easy to bait out. if they DH and you are 6 inches off their back they really dont gain much distance. If they Dh from you lunge swinging 3 feet back, yes they gain distance. Its something that can be mitigated by how you play. again,, maybe its different at high mmr, but its not a problem in average play for me. Least when i stopped victimizing myself over it.

i guess i am just lucky then that i dont get matched with full sweat teams each match. So sorry for you if thats what your match making is like

Yeah I disagree, I haven't versed someone that cant use DH in the longest of time.

Although I'm discovering I get very sweaty games compared to alot of people but I guess that's expected during off peak times.

DH distance certainly needs to go. Would be nice to see something else used besides DH,DS,UB and COH

There's a lot of issues with the perk and how it interacts with and can change the outcome of the match when you've made no mistakes on the killer's end. The biggest issue i have with it is how it negates certain killer's powers with validation and providing massive setback, Victor pouncing and then being kicked for free is the biggest offender, now x's that by 4 and you can see the issue. Then you've got the distance extender to reach windows and pallets which creates a whole other issue on top of that. combine it with the other 2nd chance perks x's 4 and you've lost before you've even made a dent.

while I have flaws in my game, im not "bad" just have some things im bad at. i win the majority of my games if i use trapper or plague. likes 70% plus. by making sure people have fun its more about mindset. if you get all worked up because you dont like a perk theres a good chance it will impact game play. and im not against all cocnerns with the perks but i do think people are a bit dramatic on how strong it it. yes its strong but is in no way unbeatable. And the people who use it usually arent going to be loop gods that are untouchable. if your spending 60 seconds in a chase then your spending too long in many cases. if a chase goes too long you should be breaking off it. while your chasing that guy isnt doing gens but the others are.

Obviously it can be frustrating and maybe your at the top of the skill matching where your always going against people whoa re also at the top of the skill game and at that point your outside of normal gameplay. DH may be broken when used by sweats with 5k hours, but its absolutely not broken when used by normal people. Least in my experience.

and to reiterate, you absolutely can play around it by baiting them, or being very close to them when they use it. then the DH is not going to get them very far ahead. Ive gotten many downs literally within a second or 2 of DH being used.

Survs have DH and killers have NOED. NOED is far more game changing than DH.

You don't seem to understand why DH is such a problem so you can't really comment on it.

Just wait out the DH for distance. EZ

Just extend the chase for several seconds and let the survivor reach the godloop. EZ (for the survivor)

It actually is that bad, you're just inexperienced, like you said.

At the lower end of MMR it seems pretty insignificant & can be dealt with easily. It's only when you start facing it 8/10 games against people that can maximize its potential that it becomes a problem. 1-2 Dead hards that extend a few chases by 30-40 seconds can pretty much cost you the game.

In addition to the "as designed" issues, DH has the current issue that when they changed the hit designation it now "absorbs" killers powers when it was not intended to. A classic example:

    1. Nemmy uses tentacle over a downed pallet to try to hit survivor on the other side.
    2. Survivor uses DH to escape.
    3. Survivor is not hit (working as intended)
    4. Pallet does not get broken (Not working as intended).

There is a similar situation with multiple other killer powers, in particular poor Twins where not-a-baby leaps towards the DH user and gets stomped when he should not be vulnerable.

Fix that then let's talk about DH's other issues.

I think you answered your own question with your last sentence.

But let's go point by point.

    1. I'm definitely 'medium' MMR and even at my level, about 2/4, more commonly 3/4 survivors have Dead Hard. And while they aren't perfect - they don't need to be. It doesn't take a strategic genius to press 'E'.
    2. It's...what? I see this almost every game. Being able to hear it doesn't matter if the killer sites it correctly, as in the right spots it takes a lot of time to go to and cleanse, and generally these are spots where it covers half the map. CoH is so strong at present that with a medkit, a duo can literally heal mid chase.
    3. BT is fine.
    4. Okay, pallets on their own aren't a problem. The problem is that certain maps have a lot of safe pallets, meaning that a savvy survivor can waste ages running you around a loop and then drop it. One or two on a map is fine. Above this, combined with strong loops - you have The Game or Cowshed.
    5. Yeah, there is no defending strobers. Especially since I've had survivors tell me in postgame that they are deliberately trying to give people seizures.

Keep on playing - you'll definitely get better at the game, and you'll probably start to realize just how ridiculous DH and CoH are.

Everything is not that bad if survivors are incompetent enough to make it so.

even SWFs with voice comms aren't that bad because some people can't manage to play good with all those advantage.

Survivors always appear weak when you first start playing the game. So what about when you get good survivors who don't mess up their Dead Hards and things like that?

Any tips on baiting 'Dead Hard for Distance?"

    Thanks in advance!
