Do killers ever let you have hatch/gate due to good chases?

Yes I had a pyramid head give me hatch after he chased me for a long time and he killed my teammates

Depends if its good chases or if it was just a good layout + bad matchup

It all depends on what killer it is and what map like if im being chased the most and others arent helping and open the gates and leaving without taking a hit for me ive had killers be like thats fkd up and then drop me and carry me to hatch. Sometimes killers are survivor mains that are just trying to get their ranks up before reset and dont want to be tunneling its just that you have no other clues

I'm usually the last one alive and I don't even struggle anymore when they get me out of habit, even if I know darn well the hooks nearby are broken and I could. It's that common. Take me to the hatch good sir, you have won, I would give you my item if I wasn't bleeding more blood than an elephant.

On the flip side I give people the hatch/escape ~70% of the time. I don't care about the 4k and it makes me feel good.

I think I've been given hatch/gate twice in the 5 years I've played for having "good chases".

Most games I have "good chases" results in me getting slapped on hook while I die... I find most killers don't like good chases and if being nice tend to be nicer to newer survivors (bad chasers)

    Only when other three died.

I"ve only had one. It was a Blight.

He told me afterward that our chases were very enjoyable and they taught him some stuff.

The others were more so out of pity.

If you're a genuine newbie ill be nice, If not they can all die, no one ever takes it easy on me.

Depends, sometimes the killer understands I did a great chase while my teammate was hiding (especially when it's 2v1 near the end) but honestly it's rare I'm given a free escape but I escape enough anyway.

As killer I always let the last get gate and dont slug for the 4. Unless you BM during the match of course

Occasionally? But I suck at chase so they're usually cause I'm the last survivor or someone/multiple dcs lol.

As killer I'll usually give last person hatch or door unless I'm doing a challenge. Or I forget lol.

Way more often than I'm given kills when the survivors get a 3/4 out for having good chases.

Never. Killers keep smacking me on the hook 😂

How would I know why they gave me hatch? Maybe they just like me because of my charm?

I do not let survivors go because of a good chase. It is really the opposite. I like killing good survivors. So I usually let the players who aren't the best have an escape.

I used to do that but I stopped doing so after no one ever even said as much as a simple "thank you" in endgame chat (yes, they were on steam)

    Very rarely.

Sometimes, normally when they're playing Billy and just exist for a chase w/ addons but it's also happened before with Bubba. I was good at running them (as in, literal 5 gen chase on Coal Tower) they downed me, hooked me for BBQ, managed to down 2 of the teammates within 30 seconds, I got saved and he went for the other 3, managed to kill 2 of em, before just deciding to do nothing but chase me and see how long it'd take. Gave me Hatch when egc was almost out. Fun game.

    For good chases? Rarely.

They will do so sometimes for whatever reason, but for good chases? Very rare. Quite the opposite in my experience.

As far as I'm concerned, giving hatch is usually random (the last one left alive). However, among the exceptions ...

If a survivor is the only one giving me good chases in a match, I'll usually wipe the rest and give him the hatch.

In the same spirit, I also make a point killing useless teammates and try to "save" the one who carried the team.

Also, about the "thanks" comment(s) I've read. I never except one but my survivor items offering pile is growing steadily.

If the survivor played well I give hatch but if I feel like they aren't very good I just go on and hook them, if someone DC I usually try to give the last found survivor hatch because they were kinda screwed anyway in that situation but if I'm in a bad mood that day they all die lol

I tend to let the worst survivor get hatch, because I feel bad for them.

No, because I’m bad and can’t loop well. I’ve had them give me hatch because they’re either nice, enjoy my username, realized I was playing solo and my teammates were worse than I was and felt sorry for me or because I wasn’t toxic and/or memed around with them (booped the snoot, played target practice with Mr Cowboy).

Yes, once. We loaded into Coal Tower against Ghostface and I immediately got found by him. I looped him for 2 gens before he decided to leave me alone. At one point Ghostface left me alone for the rest of the match and killed the other survivors. He refused to go after me or hit me, so I just did gens. Then at the end of the match he let me open the exit gate. I gave him my medkit as a thank you.

I do it quite often depending on whether you gave excellent chases, or if it was a slaughter and I don't really care to bully (the later usually only if it's not quicker just to get them out of here).

As a Killer i like to give Hatch to good Survivors (or cute Baby Survivors) as long as they arent toxic in a annoying Way.

  • Lynxx
    Lynxx Member Posts: 510

As a killer I will do it all the time especially if the rest of their team was potatoes.

  • Lynxx
    Lynxx Member Posts: 510

The worst survivor probably helped you out the most too. I tend to kill these players without mercy. They usually aren't doing their fellow survivors any favors and me giving them a pass up the MMR chain feels wrong. I may also have trauma from soloing because of it.

After a good chase? No, I get slugged for a minute+ while they shake "no" at me until they decide to put me on the hook and hit me until sacrifice animation stops. I don't teabag or click flashlight, just loop them with occasional pallet stun.

  • EvilJoshy
    EvilJoshy Member Posts: 5,295

Depends on the definition of a good chase. If you mind gamed me, juke me, out smarted me then I consider that a good chase.

If you just ran from 1 god pallet to the next, like on The Game, then I do not consider you a skilled looper. I call it bad map design.

As a killer, I have a few scenarios (assuming I even feel like it, which isn't always) for when people get a free Hatch. Someone impressing me in a chase is one of them (well at least assuming they didn't just E to tell the killer to F off as survivors using DH has gone onto my "No Hatch for you" list).

It's not something that is super common as if they're that good at chases, they have either found the Hatch themselves at this point or they've lost me but I've had that happen a few times where I knock them out seconds away from the Hatch and I'll just walk away.

As a survivor, it feels super random but I suppose that's to be expected. Every single killer is going to have their own criteria (I know at least once I got the Hatch because of my running skills since they were streaming and they specifically said that if the opportunity presented itself, Tippy would be getting the Hatch) but that's kind of to be expected. Hell, even for myself, my rules can change based on how I'm feeling that day so I don't expect any of my rules to be followed by my opponents.

When I play killer I will usually give hatch to last survivor if they did well in chases and/or were good teammates to the other survivors (unhooked a lot, took protection hits, etc). I won’t give hatch if survivor was taunting, did nothing during the match or wasted my time by hiding forever after hatch spawned.

I thought it gave you some, not the same as an exit gate, but some.

Still I'm more likely to give the good survivor the hatch over a bad one.
