We need an endorsements system to reduce toxicity

Similar to Overwatch, I think that an endorsement system would reduce toxicity.

  • Killers would be able to chose up to 2 survivors to give them +50% total BP each at the end of the match. It would be optional, if the killer feels like the whole team was toxic, he or she can keep his endorsements.
  • As for survivors, they would be able to give the killer +25% BP each. Again, it's optional.
  • At the end of the week, you get extra BP depending of the level of endorsement you have (the more endorsements you have, the higher is your level).

I'm not toxic by nature and I don't care about any systems.

Toxic players are toxic people by nature and they won't care about any systems.

    Nothing will change.

I support this idea, but it would naturally need some fine tuning.

I think that it's definitely still worth a try, especially if people start getting matched loosely based on endorsements.

Something about yesterday just brought all the butt gerbils out of hiding and I ended up quitting for the evening. Some of the most outright unpleasant people I've ever encountered in this game.

Stupid question but does the killer only have two endorsements to give a week or a match?

I don't think this type of system would work well as many killers say that having a flashlight is toxic. Running and looping well (not tbagging or clicking in this chase) is toxic and would not give out any points.

Survivors would be even more toxic and not bother giving the killers any points because they dared to load in as the inferior race of killer (jokes). Serious though killer didn't kill me they are toxic trash, killer killed me they are toxic trash and I didn't have fun because of x they are toxic trash. This community is so toxic toward each other they would not bother giving the other side and BPs cause no helping the other side.

In this game killer players are beaten down until they lose all humanity while playing. Sadly to play killer you just have to have thick skin and ignore it.

    Or quit. Like many have.

I like it. The fact it can be handed out would reduce (not eliminate) toxicity. There, unfortunately, will always be toxic players but I'd like to see less of them.

Anything is better than nothing, and it would be encouraging. Especially with numbers as high as 50% increase to BP.

On the contrary, the major point of this system would be to have killers and survivors sharing good vibes and rewarding each others, instead of staying stuck in a defeat / toxic mindset "us vs them".

I am positive that getting 0k 4 escape as killer but getting endorsed by the whole team, granting you +100% BP is a better experience than getting the same result without any other reward. At least you know they had fun and they thank you for that.

Of course it won’t erase all the toxicity…

How am I not surprised there be so many people against getting more bloodpoints.

Agree. While it’s a good idea in principle, I think it would get abused too much.

People would hardly ever endorse killers.

I, for one, wish to wait for Behavior to address the problem with their new system that they are hyping up. I will accept 0 bloodpoints until they fulfill their promise.

You guys are really pessimistic…as survivor I think I would probably endorse about 80% of my killers. Because most of the time, they are not meta, they try until the end even when it’s looking bad for them from the beginning, or they get treated poorly by the other survivors and I just want a way to say thank you that have an impact, not just words.

As killer I think I would endorse at least one survivor. Most of the time it would be these 2 last survivors that go for unhook, being altruistic instead of hiding for the hatch. Even if I am matched against a toxic team, most of the time there is at least one survivor that is playing with good vibes that I can thank for.

Hell, the system is already in place

I'm guessing everyone forgot it existed because no one ever does it (because it does nothing) but there is a Thumbs Up button in the game. It seems like it would be pretty easy to make it actually do something instead of doing nothing as it currently stands.

I use it quite a bit as I am a beacon of positivity, please ignore my cage, by the way. There are plenty of other nice players like myself that I thumbs up, both killer and survivor.

Wouldn't be used as SWF would downvote the killer.

There would be no way to "downvote". Either you give the bonus BP, or you don’t. Not giving it would not change anything about the outcome of the match or the amount of BP earned by the killer / survivors.

Wouldn't be used as SWF would downvote the killer.

Then they simply won't so the system wont have any use..

I think it's worth a try. It's not going to solve toxicity 100% but I could see it helping to reduce it by some degree.

The people that it would work with would already share those good vibes either way, with or without such system.

I am talking about those people who will find a new way to be rude by giving them the ability to control rewarding other players.

It's the same reason why people who throw games because they would rather T-bag and go down OR Camp and get 1 kill could care less about bloodpoints.

I can confirm. Came back playing some days ago and still no emotions. My mind is cold like a stone.

I see no issues with it as long as it's exclusively "upvotes" and no thumbs down stuff.

Even then I'm certain some would consider not getting any to be toxic no matter what, even completely certain some people would complain about being "ironically endorsed" or something. But that's their problem.

This would be a great idea, if the core reason why people were toxic to begin with wasn't present. If the mechanics of the game were more solid and less restrictive of skill, and the core gameplay loop was flawless. You wouldn't need to implement systems to reduce toxicity because being toxic becomes an afterthought.

This game doesn't have a toxicity problem it has an entitlement problem. Too many players feel entitled to either survivor or to kill. You can search on YouTube and see people getting upset cause a survivor body blocks to save an injure survivor or a killer tunneling but just not seeing any other survivors to go after. At the end of the day it's just a game you didn't really die against that Bubba who camped you and Bubba you didn't really let those 3 survivors escape

Allow us to block people we don’t want to play against. You’re toxic for me, I don’t want to play with you

I like this idea however I think 25% would be too much. Maybe 5% each then it wouldnt be such a big difference, keep in mind that just as ppl are toxic they can also deny those things on purpose. Many ppl are very emotional and petty when it comes to gaming, they will find any excuse or reason to blame someone. In theory a endoresment system sounds great and sure it can be added but giving other players the ability to "choose" what is not toxic and what is will not help or solve anything.

Example: I met someone who called me toxic for playing Artist. He even reported me cuz I "abused" the birds.

Does this mean he is in the right and his endoresement is justified or would promote anything? There are ofc way more examples and thats why I think it wouldnt be a amazing solution or huge thing for dbd.

Again not sayings its bad, would be nice to have it but it shouldnt give such a huge reward difference.
