Who is the Worst Survivor to buy for Perks

Munqaxus
Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

I always thought it was Jane Romero because of Poised and Solidarity but after checking it out on an aggregate site I'm very fond of, she's not the worst because of Head On. She's really close to the bottom on perk usage. Make a guess before checking out the spoiler on the worse Survivor perk set. By the way, Solidarity is only used in 0.07% of games, lol. To put that in perspective Windows of Opportunity is used in 15.31% of games.

Yuj-Jin Lee is the worse, with her perks being used 0.82% of the time. She has Smash Hit 0.34%, Fast Track 0.38% and Self Preservation 0.1%.

    Ash.

Pickrate isn't that useful for deciding how good perks are, since Solidarity is honestly pretty nice in the right builds and a lot of unused perks are unused because they're underrated rather than necessarily useless. I'd sooner look at each perk on its own merits, and I think Ash ends up with the least useful perks overall- though maybe I'm missing someone with worse perks, I don't have them all memorised lol.

I was actually surprised at how bad Ace actually was. I run him, but I really ever use his perks. LOL.

Ah the sleeping Joker your perks are bad.

For me its Elide. I love her design but lets think about how often you use deception or appraise. Then there is Power struggle that is 100% almost always useless because you don't get enough wiggle and have the killer walk through a pallet. It happens and I know but its so inconsistent you are better off not using the trash.

Ace and Ash. They aren't really worth getting unless you like their characters.

Just shows that whatever perks are strong are used a lot more

Or Survivors pick perks that they feel comfortable

Also if the Devs wanted to make Buckle Up better they would've given it the Heal at 100% to downed Survivors (instead of giving that to We're Gonna Live Forever)

And I hate to say this but making MOM easier to use... would have more players use it

Flip-Flop did see an increase in usage due to Boil Over getting it's change

Plus Yoichi is the newest Survivor so it makes sense that his perks aren't used much (I see that being changed soon (TM)

Also it is weird to see Ace In The Hole being used more then Open Handed... IMO

This is from an aggregate site, I really like the site because of the data you can get off of it, since BHVR doesn't release data. They get a few thousand matches a month, so they're probably the best data we can get at the moment.

@Munqaxus I would really like to have a link to that website if possible. It tracks s lot of starts right? If you can't share it here, mind exchanging discord?

I'm actually surprised Deception is used so little. I'm also surprised Power Struggle isn't lower.

    DriplordDrew Member Posts: 246

He is new and he is a survivor you have to pay real money. Honesty two of his perks are boarder line useless. The boon is not good Speed boost is cool but not enough. The one that lets the injured survivor see use it complete useless like I don't want a survivor bring the killer to me cause they are that type of player. Parental guardian is good with DS as an added anti tunnel because no grunts of pain, no scratch marks and no pools of blood and if you break line of sight you are gone. I don't think he should be included just yet because he in new and behind a pay wall. Give Yoichi a chance before we lower him down.

Power struggle is tided to a challenge I believe in which a player has to drop a pallet to get off a killers shoulder them self (it was not easy to get pre buff to the perk).

Dunno why people are saying Ace , his perks are really good, i use ace in the hole and open handed to great effect a lot....rarely use the luck perk but 2 useful perks out of 3 aint bad

    Ace for sure.

At least Ash has flip flop which can mesh with break out builds like boil over.

  • Munqaxus
    Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

I did the math for plundering chests and you lose about 22% of gen progress opening a chest. If you get the best tool box in the game, you actually lose -6% of gen progress than if you had just done a gen. (I didn't check with add-ons).

If you get the best med-kit, the time it takes you to use that med-kit and the time to open the chest would take 34 seconds, Self-Care takes you 32 seconds the perk everyone considers one of the worst perks in the game.

Flashlights and Keys are practically worthless so you lose 22% of gen progress getting either of those items. So 1/2 the time, you are getting an absolutely worthless item when you do a chest and losing precious time doing a gen, even getting the best item.

So Ace in the Hole is extremely bad, because it means you are not doing gens and are doing chests. It's a noob trap.

Since I only play 1 aspect perk build. As Deception for Locker focus perk build, Appraisal for Chest focus perk build. Both of those perk builds are really fun to play.

Power struggle is useless in solo though.

  • DriplordDrew
    DriplordDrew Member Posts: 246

I rarely use lockers or run a locker build (miss head on 99% of the time). Chest builds I find are only viable if you are in a SWF. Both of these builds have their uses but I just feel like over all these two perks are useless in many situations though deception less so. Power struggle is a struggle because its just not good in almost any situation.

For the longest time I had no clue that survivors such as Feng and Ace were actually DLC. I would never pay for smirk man, that's just laughably bad. I'm glad I own him through gamepass though, because he's got some decent outfits.

Just because a perk doesn't help be a boring sweaty loser does NOT make it a bad perk!

I dont play for optimize or viable, mostly for fun (which explain I die alot). But giving random Green medkit with double addon make me feel great, because I would feel great if I get a valuable items.

Inner strength to heal then Head on is really fun if manage to do it. Its a chase reset. Its also really fun when seeing Killer keep searching around my Gen with Deception & Quick/Quiet. A true time buying.

Before they were absorbed into the general pool of perks, I'd have said Steve. Despite being one of the popular characters, his perks are pretty niche, but Ace and Ash are strong contenders for that. They have really bad perks that do not sinergise well in general, outside Open Handed and Flip-Flop that is. I see people being constantly praised for Mettle of Man plays.. but it's so rare to actually see it on play or get any value from it.

  • Munqaxus
    Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

The Stranger Things content doesn't have stats on the website I check, unfortunately. They have stats on the individual perks but not the characters or killer from Stranger Things. I think it's because those perks aren't connected to the killers and character from Stranger Things anymore?

  • adirgeforthedead
    adirgeforthedead Member Posts: 424

Yeah, that makes sense. They are no longer tied to Steve, Nancy and Demo and everyone can get them from the general pool now. It is why I specified because before they were, people had to actually pay to get them and they were still pretty niche. Nancy's are somewhat more useful.

I think its Ash even tho MoM is still decent its not as good any longer. flip flop is good if u combine it with power struggle and buckle is meh. Ace is a close 2nd

He has the most situational perks in the game if you ask me and new players will not use them

Nancy or Steve? I don't see their perks much anymore, unless it's a meme build and the perks alone are not that great and are either useless or have better options.

  • Munqaxus
    Munqaxus Member Posts: 2,752

I think Nancy and Steve's perks are now just general perks anyone can get.

  • APoipleTurtle
    APoipleTurtle Member Posts: 1,274

I don't really see how the answer could be anyone but Ace.

Open Handed is arguably his best perk and it has to be run with something else to personally make use of its effect. IMO it's still super mediocre even then; most aura reading perks already have a great base range (or infinite range like Aftercare, Alert, OoO, etc). I'm struggling to think of perks beyond Bond and Kindred that it's really worth pairing with.

Ace in the Hole is okay, but not really worth running unless you're trying to keep add-ons that you already brought in on an item. There aren't many survivor add-ons that are worth preserving in this fashion anyway (since most are cheap and plentiful while rarer ones tend to either consume themselves or the item they're attached to).

Up the Ante plays into the under-tuned Luck mechanic, which pretty much automatically makes it bad. Other perks exist which can do what this perk would do better than it can (like Deliverance or Plunderer's Instinct).

Even when you compare him to Ash, who seems to be the popular counterpick, Ash has:

Flip Flop, which is fine on its own and has great synergy with lots of other perks. It also almost single-handedly allows perks like Power Struggle to even function.

Mettle of Man, which is ultra-situational and overly hard to use, but offers arguably one of the strongest survivor perk effects in the game. It basically allows survivors to bring their own side quest into each trial.

Buckle Up, which is pretty worthless.

just by reading the title and ignoring all other comments, my immediate thought is Ace 100% which is funny cause I have been using Ace in the Hole for a long time in my P3 Cheryl just to farm some stuff without having to grind in the bloodweb so much and must say I've been enjoying it. Also used Open-Handed for a while to get the Yoichi's healing achievement and could enjoy it in a few matches.

    then there's also Ash

I was curious what the absolute worst perks were, by usage and oddly enough, Up the Ante is not the worse, it's the 5th worse. Which absolutely amazes me, because it literally does nothing. LOL. It's Corrective Action at 0.03% usage. I would argue that Corrective Action is actually more useful than Up the Ante.

It's worth noting pick rate is heavily influenced by tome challenges especially the lesser picked ones.

It wouldn't surprise me flip flop is that highly picked simply due to the tome challenge and alot of people struggling lol.

I'd say ASH is the worst to play as (being so loud, shame as I love evil dead) but perk wise Lee (who is kinda loud with bad perks) and Jeff? I cant even remember all his perks and o never see him

  • vanGlasse1
    vanGlasse1 Member Posts: 295

that's really surprising to me as well since that perk is really so useless considering how Luck affects so little as an in game stats + the value on the perk is not high enough to be useful as well. I would think the Corrective Action is even below due to being more recently added in game while also being kind of not very interesting to pick if not for the Adept achievement, but the other 3 perks in the list aren't so recent which is kind of funny

I want to know, how you are a game developer for a game that's been out for 6 years, and you think Corrective Action should ever be in the game. There's no reason to even make that perk.

Then again, the developers haven't really done anything with survivors for 4 years, except for Circle of Healing and that's getting nerfed into uselessness.

Literally 1 meta perk for survivors in 4 years and the developers are nuking it.

But if you have a Rift Challenge or the daily where you have to leave with an item it makes your loot that much sweeter. Well, assuming you do escape since you're busy opening chests instead of trying to escape...

I feel like they also could tweak the "luck" status to be something relevant beyond just self unhooking, like they did with Hemorrhage, it could open a new zone for a new type of perk around Luck as a mechanic which could be interesting if done right, kind like the new mechanic with Scourge Hooks and Boons maybe.
