Killer meta is a snoozefest
I would need drugs to play this game, survivor perks are boring but blocking every gen? ZZZZZ
Comments

The only meta Perk that blocks gens that I can think of is Corrupt Intervention. All the other ones that block Generators aren't meta, Dead Man's Switch included
10 -
DMS isn't meta apparently.

Complaining about killer/survivor meta is a snoozefest. What're players/devs gonna do when they see forum complaints? Nothing, it's a cycle.
5 -
I personally don't think it's that good. It gets countered pretty easily, just don't let go off Generators, and like every other Generator blocking Perk, it doesn't regress Generators, so it barely slows down the game
4 -
Deadlock is meta. Survivors complain about it, so it must be well designed.
2 -
At first I would have disagreed. But you are right. It is boring to only be able to play with perks like that if we're planning on winning.
2 -
It's not, it's B tier max. It gets hard countered by playing efficiently, splitting up on Generators
2 -
But it's guaranteed value, like Corrupt, unlike Pop and Pain Resonance.
0 -
Guaranteed doesn't mean anything if it doesn't do anything. Monstrous Shrine has guaranteed value, if you get someone in the Basement, doesn't mean it's good value
2 -
So many Gen Blocking perks exist that when a survivor blocks the gen themselves my brain will shut-down as I try to recalibrate which perks I brought into the game and second guess all my in-game decisions lol
0 -
The only perk in the game that blocks every gen is Grim Embrace. And I never see it used outside of an Artist Adept run.

Playing killer with those slowdowns is like autopilot. The perks doing all the work for them.
And yes, I play killer with 0 slowdowns. Not 4 like most of you. Not even a bbq for the gen protection lmao. 😭

A lot of these perks have always been meta or at least good. It's just that MMR is essentially forcing people to run the very best perks available or lose, which has made the meta a lot more noticeable.
There are a lot of perks out there that are good but since they're not Tinkerer or Ruin or Undying they're being overshadowed and barely see any use.

Huh? That's literally what Deadlock counters. You run Corrupt/Deadlock, hook inside your Corrupt and facecamp. It's physically impossible to do more than 2 gens by the time the survivor dies.
2 -
It doesn't counter splitting up on Generators, it counters multiple Survivors on 1 Generator.
Let's look at a scenario with efficient Survivors:
- Killer (K), chases Survivor A
- Survivors B, C and D work on 3 different Generation
- K downs and hooks A
- Generator B gets finished, C gets blocked at ~75%, Generator D is ~60%
- B goes for a save, D finishes his Generator
- A gets healed, K chases D, C gets finished
3 different Generators already finished with 1 Hook, with Corrupt and Deadlock
3 -
Lmao, no one cares or asked
3 -
That's the thing, Corrupt and Deadlock give you value regardless of your actions, while PGTW, PR, Monstrous Shrine all give you value if you do something. Therefore, not guaranteed.
3 -
I've seen it....twice? Once on a pinhead and once on an artist. Corrupt is nearly every game though.

Actually, I'd say that the killer meta is more varied than it's ever been.
Yes, it involves some form of regression or blocking, but you'll see:
Ruin+Undying
Deadlock
Corrupt
CoB
Pop
PR
PR+DMS
PR+Agi
Surge
Penti+Plaything
Often mixed and matched together.
I see far more PR+DMS, Ruin+Undying+CI and now CoB+Pop than I do Deadlock.
Deadlock is popular because it's fire and forget, and allows you to stock up on more offensive or info perks than other builds which generally require at least 2 slots for regression (sometimes 3 with CI).
I think the blocking builds are starting to fade out in favor of hard regression. Blocking builds are good as a stall, but can sometimes result in a lot of gens popping very quickly later.
I know I've moved over to CoB+Pop, Plaything+Penti and PR+Agi on a lot of killers now.
I've also seen an annoying...thing develop around CI.
Basically, rather than trying to force gens, survivors hide, set up boons etc. and just wait it out - meaning that it's almost a wasted slot and just prolongs the game.
The only killers I run it on are Trapper and Hag, due to their setup requirement.

Stealthing around Corrupt is usually way too risky for the payoff. Obviously more viable on some maps, but it fell out favor quickly at the comp level because killers learned spawns to the point that early game stealth wasn't viable. If the killer knows their spawn points, you run the risk of a chase starting on an out of position player with zero gen pressure on the survivor side.

I do think that it is boring to run the same perks no matter what Killer I play as.... But I feel like I need them to do anything in the match
So it's a catch 22

It's probably different at the absolute top level, but I don't play there :)
I'd say that the reality on the ground is a little different. It's a bit risky, sure - but it is something I'm seeing quite a bit of, and why I only use Corrupt on very specific killers.
I've had a lot of success mixing it up recently. Spirit, Wraith, Demo and other high sustained mobility killers are awesome with CoB builds. Plaything+Penti works like a charm too, especially on Pyramid Head, Plague and Trapper. PR+Agi will never not be amazing, and Surge can get obscene value on instadown M1 killers.
DMS is great on Artist and Pinhead, Corrupt is great on Trapper and Hag.
I don't think I've used Ruin in months.

Huh. I've seen Corrupt, DMS and Pain Resonance a lot in my region/MMR. I also haven't played in a few weeks though so maybe it was the time of day or it was still newer back then.

I love Corrupt on Demogorgon, gives me time to set up important Portals for a 3-Gen safely
0 -
It's a good one for him, but I usually place portals as I roam. I prefer to dedicate the slot to either more info, some sort of side objective like Devour, something offensive like STBFL or even something wacky like FoR.

Situational is the word. :)

I've gotten used to running Corrupt and Whispers... so now not running them means one of two things
1) I loss horribly
2) I realize that I can go a match or two without those 2 perks
0 -
Whispers? That's interesting.
0 -
Yea... It's been in my builds for as long as I have been playing the game
0 -
I find it to be pretty good on artist or killers with mobility
0 -
sure let me just let the swf across uganda gen rush, will do! (not)
0 -
Mfw survivor meta hasnt been changed for the past 5 years.
0 -
Hah :) That's like me and Surge I guess.
It's a perk I've always been really comfortable with, and so I find myself running it on a lot of killers, even when I probably shouldn't.
