Should Nurse's attacks be Special attacks?

Just going to preface this with two things first. People usually only upload YouTube videos of wins, and most of the popular content creators are all fairly or amazingly good players, which brings me to the second point. MMR is unreliable, especially at that level of skill, because as even BHVR said, there is not enough of them for consistently even skill matches in pubs. This is why you see good players/said content creators dominate most matches regardless of side or build. Also 99% of videos saying "high mmr/rank 1/etc" are just clickbait garbage. It's pretty clear when players are actually good, because you will see how they change up playstyle against the Nurse. Same for how the Nurse responds to mindgames.

I am not including scrims, as I still consider that part of tournament (since it is tournament practice). However, some videos will be against competitive players/partial competitive player teams in non-tournament settings (eg, pubs or non-tournament KYF, similar to how content creators will organize matches against each other). Finding genuinely even matches for those absurdly good players is very rare. Fully even builds are even rarer, so keep in mind that it won't apply necessarily. (Eg, some people going hyper top meta, others with less meta or non-meta perks, etc). Some are just 1v1 clips between good players, to show that they can run them for a good amount of time in an actual chase.

Wouldn't making her Blinks count as Special Attacks be a buff more than a nerf? If Nurse can't use Perks that work with M1s, why shouldn't she just stack slowdown Perks?

yes lets make it a Special Attack so survivors don't get alerted by Devour Hope until they get Mori'ed : )

Just now saw this, thanks. I agree with everything you said there and I actually used to watch those SupaAlf so I'm surprised this is the first time I'm seeing them.

Stop it. You're making a fool of yourself looking at killrates. Guess you think Pig is in need of nerfing, huh?

No point wasting time on people like that, they’re too busy playing the perpetual killer victim complex. It’s genuinely comical that people in this community like to pretend how nurse requires a maths degree to play when it’s predominantly about muscle memory and understanding how to zone properly.

@GrimReaperJr1232 Nurse is my second main after Billy so I’m open to having a chat about this. Yes, she is reliant on blinks for both traversal and attacking, but people often overlook that by walking you can still zone survivors to the point where you can easily set up a hit. The problem that a lot of new nurses have (apart from the lack of muscle memory) is that they don’t position properly so the first blink ends up being wasted and the second becomes much easier to dodge.

Her post blink lunge is very close to a normal one, but there are some key differences from memory. The first is that her post blink lunge is 3% (I think) larger than other killers to offset the blink mechanic (this may have been changed after the recode so don’t quote me on that). The second is that you can initiate the lunge mid blink so that you’ll swing on the first frame after blinking (very useful for dealing with DH if they don’t pre-empt it).

The problem is that her very power gatekeeps a lot of things in this game. Smaller maps? Great, Trapper, Pig, Myers, Ghostie, Legion etc. all thank you for it. Except now Nurse (even more so with range addons) just becomes exponentially stronger; think Midwich for reference. Want a brand-new awesome killer perk? Great, except no because nurse’s interaction with could be game breaking. Changing her swing to a special attack would at least alleviate the absurd potential strength of some perks on her without really changing what makes her strong. She’s always going to be a problem from a design perspective, but at least it would limit some of the damage. Putting aside personal bias for the moment, if Nurse was designed now, she wouldn’t be released (at least not with her current power).

She’s a lot of a fun, very rewarding once you get good with her, but also a relic from when DBD was borderline a different game. If she’s going to be changed, either at least make the attack a special one, or tone down the addons.

No, they should not be special attacks.

That would make a lot of perks simply not work on her.

No real basic attack perks are actually strong anyway, not needed.

Surge is decent on Nurse, STBFL is great on a lot of other killers (you didn’t specify Nurse though), Sloppy Butcher is getting a decent buff. Knockout has its place on certain killers and builds.
