Adding a coop & story mode would shorten queue times in the long run

When some dbd players suggest the devs add a story mode & coop missions, a lot of people argue that it would split the playerbase and cause longer queue times. In my opinion, the reverse will happen in the long term, here is why.

Every time a new chapter is released (example: Demogorgon), the fans of the movie in which the killer is featured try the game, which means a temporary massive increase in numbers. However, the new player experience in dbd sucks. The devs tried all sorts of matchmaking systems, yet new players regularly get matched with very good killers or survivors. In addition, they get the unfair disadvantage of only having bad perks and add ons. So, the first few matches are frustrating. Yes, the game gets more fun after 12 or so games. However, there is a time limit of 2 hours, after which steam does not refund the game. So, if the first few matches give a bad impression, most players will quit to get refunded because the game most likely sucks from their point of view.

However, here is how a story mode & coop missions change everything. The new players now have a more chill option, the coop missions, where they will not be hopelessly outmatched. They will be playing missions on a difficulty they choose, which means they can have fun at the beginning, and if they are easy they can move on to harder missions & difficulties. Then, since they had a good experience with coop, they would give the competitive side of the game more time, enough to start enjoying it. Since they would have seen the game can be fun, they would not instantly assume those few bad matches mean the game is trash. Since they stick around, the amount of players increases and it is easier to match players.
