Anyone else expect the 'Grind Overhaul' to go the way of Early Game Collapse?
I think it would be the perfect symbolic end to the 'perk tier removal is not needed because our amazing overhaul will permanently fix all problems with the grind, no we won't talk about it' saga; they never have to give any details as befits their policy of being 'as transparent as possible', we will never get to try it ourselves but rather trust in their testing, and we get to enjoy the grind for many years to come.

Considering the Early Game Collapse was a specific idea that they shared too early before realising that it wouldn't work, and their grind overhaul is a general concept that could be achieved multiple ways, no.
They're not gonna stop working on an idea to fix the grind. It just might change multiple times before we get to see it.

Early Game Collapse was too much of an misnomer to become part of the game.
Besides, it would only really help Trapper.

No, I think they'll make some sort of change.
What frustrated me though, other than the lack of communication from BHVR, is they won't make any changed to the grind now. They say they won't change anything or increase BP gains because it would just be a band-aid fix. But that's literally what band-aids are for. It's a temporary measure to help something before a permanent solution takes over. There a lots of things they could do for now, but they choose to do nothing.

I 100% agree with you. I get not changing the perks so there are no tiers as I imagine this would take a lot considering how ingrained they are in the system. I feel like even just giving more benefits to get p3 on a character for now would feel fine. I have build my Min and I am pumping bp into her to get more items because even though I want to continue to p3 all my survivors and get all the perks I am just so far behind and with a new survivor possibly coming in about 2 months that means for all the characters I have p3 and all perks on I have to pump into them (I have 9 done so far). Even just making party streamers a brown again for the time being a so that they spawn in webs way more would help a lot with the grind.

What would an early game collapse be? Two minutes of gens and totems being blocked?

I wish they'd combine one or more bad low tier perks into one better one. Hope and Lightweight fire example.

Resilience and this is not happening
1 -
Yeah! There's dozens of perks you can do this with. I had a whole list typed up when I first started playing this game, but then I gave up on it.

There were a few ideas like that. Others were reducing gen speeds until the first chase started or removing speed bonuses for multiple survivors on a gen until either time had passed or the first chase started.
The main goal was to prevent one or more gens from.being done before the killer could even locate the survivors.

No simply because the grind is at a point where it cannot be ignored. If they want the game to continue to grow or have a hope of retaining any new players they have to do something.

Basically the whole idea is all survivors suffer a 1000% penalty to repairing gens until the first survivor was hooked. The penalty will pause when a chase happens but when a chase ends it continues

Very good point. They acknowledge the grind is bad and needs to change, but why no interim fix for it? BP is significantly less valuable than it was 3 years ago due to perk and add on bloat. Why can they not add a permanent multiplier as a band aid until the full progression fix is done?

ok but killer has 1000% movement reduction and can't use their power till at least 4 different hooks. Lol if you have no map pressure because the map is either to big or you just have to commit to the first survivor that is on you. I am so tired of seeing the argument of gen rushing when three gens pop in the first chase. If you are not stopping the three other survivors off the gens then you are going to lose them. There is literally nothing else for me as a survivor to do if no ones on a hook other then tickle the gen. They need to fix maps not gens. Even slower gen speed if all of the survivors are on different gens your most likely going to lose 3 gens fast. 1000% penalty to repairing makes 0 sense because you punishing the survivor for doing the one and only task they have.

I’m just stating what the original idea was. Why you getting so aggressive. I was joking with the 1000% it would never be that big I’m just saying that cause a lot of people said this would fix games that go to fast

It's a shame they'll never tell us the concept they had for Early Game Collapse despite it being scrapped.

I expect it to go the way of 60 FPS on Console.
It'll happen 3+years after its announced.

Survivors could have secondary objectives like find some partf for gens as currently fixing gens is so slow that if it would be any slower I would probably only play killer or just stoo doing gens

And the player counts continue to dwindle.....

Give it a few years and maybe we get grind change, possibly even brightness settings? *X files intro starts playing*

The idea probably was heavily flawed if they scrapped it.
@Topic:
Well, the difference is that the Grind Overhaul is not related to the Trials. So they can change everything about the grind, but the actual matches will not be really different. (Maybe there will be less games where people have to play Perks they dont want to play or stuff like that, but thats about it)
However, the early game-thingy is a pain in the butt to balance. Because you have Killers like Blight and Nurse on the one side of the Spectrum and Trapper and Clown on the other side. Something which only benefits Nurse or Blight a bit, would not help the lower Tier Killers. And something which really benefits the lower Tier Killers might be overkill on the strong Killers.

There were many different ideas thrown around.
My own would be, all gens and totems are blocked until one of two conditions are met:
- A survivor finds and interacts with an Entity Glyph. After interacting, all gens are unblocked. Perks like Corrupt Intervention will apply after the gens are unblocked. One will always spawn in the Main Building (If the map has one) or the Basement. One will spawn inside a random tile around the map.
- The Killer begins a chase. Once a killer begins a chase, the same effect will occur.

Maybe doing totems to shorten the early game "collapse"

I can their "fix" making the grind even worse somehow
