Equipping the following perks will reduce the chances of getting healing or repairing skill cecks:
- Autodidact (healing)
- Stakeout (repairing)
- Rookie Spirit (repairing)

It’s a joke. They’re getting unlucky and not getting skill checks with those perks which require skill checks to work, therefore suggesting new survivors use those perks to avoid skill checks.
