Pinhead is absolutely miserable to face

In my opinion, Pinhead is the absolute worst killer to face in the game currently. If I hear the chain hunt noise at the beginning of the match, I have to do everything to stop myself from leaving, I'd rather just move on to another game and not have to endure that torture. Everything about his power is extremely boring and irritating to face, the chain hunts are horribly designed and can completely screw over any team that isn't on comms, and the chains are just annoying. His chase music is annoying and repetitive and the box is just frustrating to handle. He's not OP, just horrible to face.

I know there are people who like him for some reason, so I don't think anyone will agree with me, but I just can't stand him. All of you killer mains and swf players, you can't criticize me if you haven't experienced him from solo queue.

My only real problem I have with him is getting attacked while trying to solve the box lol. It could at least not reset the progress every time, or I could be allowed to move while solving the box.

It already has, or they’re doing tests again, been very long queues tonight and very bad matches, presume the player base is significantly smaller at night or something.

Yeah, his power is pretty annoying. And he doesn't have to do anything to gain his power. It needs to be improved for solo survivors and just in general.

A lot would be fixed if instead of chains interrupting a channel, you should just get the chains stuck in you like when you're opening the exit gate. The rest would be fixed if the box didn't make you drop your item.

Oh look there is the devour hope totem and he's one shotting people but I can't cleanse the totem no sir gotta solve that box do ho ho ho great. Hope one of my fellow solo survivors can find the totem and cleanse it during the brief period between me grabbing the box and insidious pinhead body slamming me because he's a cheeky boi. (Based on a true story.)

He's actually not too difficult, even in a solo group.

    • His chains are incredibly telegraphed and easy to juke.
    • If nobody is getting the box at about 3/4 full, go yourself.
    • Solve it on a ledge or raised platform and teleport won't do anything to you.
    • When you solve the box, wait for and dodge the first wave of chains. Number = number of alive and not hooked/slugged survivors -1.
    • You can break other people's chains instantly by passing through them.
    • Don't mindgame him - just drop the pallet and hold W.

The only things I'd agree on are making all 'interactive' items not replace carried items (massive QOL) and Franklins...maybe. Hoarder is completely fine.

Yes, he can troll a bit, but that's not unique to him.

Cenobite needs a buff to his kit if you're going to nerf his passive, he's already at the lower end of 'B' tier and we don't need another crap killer.

I would rather face the Cenobite than Blight.

The box mechanic is just - annoying, simply annoying. An SWF can coordinate and deal with it easily (of course) solos have to decide if they want to run across the map, expose themselves, and try to solved the damned thing while a hook hunt is probably going on all while their location is being telegraphed -- annoying.

And you have to drop your item to pick it up - usually the box is in a dead or unsafe area, so you either have to pre-plan and drop your item somewhere you can find it after the box, suck it up and drop it then take the box somewhere safer, or risk it and just try and do the stupid thing right there.

He is simultaneously incredibly unfair to both sides.

Solo's are going to be in for a bad time against Pinhead's but Pinhead will be in for a bad time against SWF's

Yeah, he's got the 'Pig problem' - his kit is designed in such a way that it can be a hassle if the survivors are potatoes and basically do nothing if survivors are good. He probably needs to join Pig, Onryo, Clown and Trapper on the 'we badly need a rework' heap.

Yes but is he strong or are you and/or your teammates just bad?

  • Piruluk

He is too strong outside of 4 stack SWF

But still its rare sight so personally I don't mind Pinhead yet

Oh come on. The guy can hit you 5 times with his power and you don't get hit. What other killer is that weak? Even with Engineer's Fang, he's just a worse Legion.

I do not mind playing against him in solo queue. I find it quite fun as I have something to do other than gens.

I personally don't have problems against him. His 1v1 is weak and his box can be dealt with really easily

Hes pretty miserable to play as well unless you're versing people way below your skill level.

His power has a high skill ceiling and honestly not worth the hassle in comparison to other killers and if you dont get a box or run the wire it's a gg

What a joy where a chapter sucks for everyone involved, yay

Annoying doesn't mean OP. @oskar0ch even said he isn't OP. Did you read the thread at all?

Also the survivor queue times have been debunked a million times. It has to do with time of the day and region. In the EU pc it's 2 seconds during the day even with crossplay off.

I agree, he's got a similar problem as mk. 2 Freddy used to have before his add-ons were nerfed. Not really super strong or difficult to beat, just very boring to play against.

Pretty much this. He might be better to face when playing in a 4 man SWF, but not everyone is playing in a 4 man SWF (and I doubt Killers will give the conter: "Then play in a 4 man SWF!").

But for me, the interaction with Franklins/Hoarder and the Box is the most annoying thing. This should not be the case IMO. However, I think that the Devs want to keep it in the game. And Pinhead-Players want to keep it in as well. And I think that this is the main reason why the Add Ons which make solving the Box take longer have been nerfed - the Devs dont want to kill the actual combo, so they nerf the next best thing. Which also affects every Pinhead who does not run Hoarder/Franklins.

And overall, I think he is pretty boring to face. When he came out on the PTB I only played like 1 hour of the PTB instead of the whole evening, because Pinhead was so boring to play against.

But I also dont really know how to really fix anything without making him bad.

Feels like the game is on a slippery slope right now, noticed matchmaking taking a lot longer as well.

Im surprised pinhead has been left alone this long though, he seriously needs a rework

  • Devil_hit11
    Devil_hit11 Member Posts: 8,931

pinhead needs improvements to his 1vs1. rubber banding chains on environment for instant breaks and walking through the chains for instant breaks is not good for killer. There is not enough reward for landing his ability.

generators go way too fast in general, so adding secondary objective in the form of the box helps a lot. I just think that for lower-levels of play, adding secondary objective for when survivors are not efficient at objective might be too strong so maybe his passive should be weaker at base-kit and stronger with add-ons and perk synergy. I don't really like the negative changes to the add-ons, it made them very lackluster.

"I also dont really know how to really fix anything without making him bad."

You don't need fix anything, He is already bad but has a lot of potential to be strong. unfortunately, since a lot of survivor dislike him based off this thread, He is probably going remain lackluster.

He’s my least favorite killer to go again, easily. Unless I happen to be in a 4-man SWF which is not very often. His power is designed to crush solo q (which is an already challenging experience against any killer).

i think he does to be fair, can’t just nerf his chains as I imagine that’d make him a terrible killer to play as, he’d need buffs elsewhere to make up for it but I feel a rework of his mechanics would sort it.

I suggested him as a potential DLC many times before he got put in the game but when he did I was very disappointed. Of course fun is subjective but I quickly realised he is far from fun to verse and adds himself to the list of the unfun killers added since Oni (Twins, Trickster, Slinger etc). I very much just want to kill myself first hook to get out of Pinhead games, those chains are just plain annoying

Everytime I hear that box appear at the beginning of the match, I know my item is about to get demised

I like to VS and play him as well.

You can deal with his box easy even in solo Q. If you don't trust your teammates... then you will have to once a while go for the cube. That's it. His chains are kinda RNG and you can land your power well but it might have 0 impact if they are objects near. It's really not that hard and he is not even a strong killer compare to the top tier killers.

    ThatOneDemoPlayer Member Posts: 5,623

Giving him a better 1v1 won't fix his chains being damn near useless at a loop with high walls, exactly like Trickster.

The more I think about it, Pinhead has a worse 1v1 than Trickster, since Trickster doesn't have to waste time standing still to use his Power

Once upon a time I played this game a lot as a survivor main. These days I mostly just watch others in my household play. A few days after Pinhead came out my wife was playing. One game in particular she heard the sound of chains as the match started and handed me the controller. She told me she wanted me to play a match against Pinhead to see how annoying it was.

I had no clue. I had watched her play several matches against Pinhead. That in no way prepared me for how incredibly bad it was to play against him. I have never been more frustrated playing this game than the times those chains activated. They made that match absolutely unenjoyable for me. If I had not already been to the point I rarely play this game that would have been the moment that pushed me over the edge.

I'm not even claiming the chains are unfair or overpowered. They didn't prevent me from escaping. It was just the single most unenjoyable element of this game I have ever run across. My wife summed it up like this: "If you told me before a match started I had the choice of playing against Pinhead and escaping or playing against any other killer and not escaping I will choose not escaping every single time."

Pin head is not op against solos. Solos just suck. You should never nerf a character because new people are having trouble with him. The moment they git gud, that character becomes non viable and you get another nurse main.

Without the box your just a m1 killer whose power only helps make safe loops slightly unsafe. I've been playing him a bit and most matches a chain hunt never occurs unless I find the box or the person solving it. You can argue "a Pin head with hoarder will always interrupt the solving of the box" not true. Most people I face don't solve the box the exact second they pick it up. They wait for me to be busy or they at least go somewhere else before solving it. There's always someone going for the box in my matches. Without the chain hunt he has no pressure and is basically a weaker Clown.

Has PH become the new Piggy at low MMR Solo Q? Did I miss something? I mean I barely face him and he is hot garbage cuz of the RNG. So I don't understand why so many people are complaining about him.

Excatly, his chase potential is meh. Some weeks ago I faced a PH on asylum. I had good mates, who were all doing gens and solving the box if necessary. His chain hunt was one time activated. Otherwise it was completely useless for him. This PH was really good at using his chains, but he still got no kill. I felt bad for him.

Survivor queue times have dropped dramatically - for a while they were extremely long.

I'm not sure why, but the more people playing at any time = longer survivor queues. Once the number of active players drops, survivor queues get faster.

This is exactly why Pinhead is an issue. It's not that he's overpowered, it's that he increases the divide between Solo and SWF. People without voice comms are screwed against him.
