This is why the 4% should be removed from the game:
That's why, in one clip only:
Now, do you think this is fair?
IF so, then why do we complain the game is too much focused around the camp and tunnel playstyle if just using perks such as Deadlock and Dead Man's Switch and just camp prevents these randoms things like Deliverance or the 4%?

Honestly; the only reason I hate the 4% is because salty Survivors can, if they don't like the killer/map/teammates, just attempt it until they die.
And if they succeed; they just run up to the Killer to be hooked again.
But having a hail mary play can mean the difference between winning and losing, and I like that aspect.
2 -
Do you think I like being camped, tunneled or slugged? You're complaining about something that happens situationally while I have to put up with things that killers do almost all the time, there are other things you can complain about, like body block, survs that break hooks, use flashlights in closets, but complaining about the 4%, it's too much, even more so that the killer receives notification when someone leaves the hook, which I find ridiculous, don't be a crybaby please
9 -
Although that was very unlucky for otz, I don’t really have a problem with the 4% mechanic. There should not be anything else luck-based added to the game beyond what we have now though.
3 -
I'd rather the 4% be replaced with something that isn't reliant on RNG.
4 -
This is not being a crybaby, this is aknowdleging that both perks and game mechanics should be reworked, such as noed and the 4%, so we end endless cycle of the whataboutism.
2 -
There should be no luck based mechanics at all in the game, otherwise the game has a component of luck, which is not skill, and then situations like that happen.
1 -
Exactly, something like no 4% at all would be much better.
0 -
Oh noe, he lost a streak.
Anyway.
7 -
Who ever said Dbd is unfair and should be unfair? Nobody, in fact that's why the devs are balancing the game and making such nice updates to legion and ghostface!
Randomness doesn't make the game more fun, it makes it more frustrating because you have no consistent way of winning, especially THIS type of rng, which is not like the map generation one, but is just pure LUCK.
1 -
The point is not that he lost a streak, the point is that it is unfair.
0 -
You are not entitled to get a 4K. The Survivor was lucky, just suck it up and move to the next game if that happens to you.
Seriously, the amount of crying in this game is way too much. Never seen such a ######### community.
3 -
If you played well and did the correct play in terms of map pressure why should you get penalised by a random 4%?
We're not talking about getting frustrated by the single situation, we're talking about fixing a game mechanic because it's bad for the longevity of the game and leads to frustration. Nobody cried.
3 -
Respect the 4%.
I agree since it's just another mechanic in the game that penalizes the killer for playing well, and rewards survivors after making mistakes, but at the same time I realize it's just 4% that is supposedly highly unlikely.
I would say before next match 3 survivors jump off hook one after another. I am pretty sure it's not just 4%, that the chance increases based on some circumstances. I feel like I've seen that mentioned somewhere before.
2 -
Yes, DBD will die because of the 4%. Sure, totally.
5 -
Woahwoahwoah, don't rope my boy into your argument!
1 -
Actually some people like an element of luck in games.
2 -
Instead of luck, the unhook should be based on other factors. Such as how long the killer ahs been with x amount of time near a hook, or if the survivor has gotten a certain number of unhooks or generators completed.
However if you are complaining about luck itself as a factor, would you also be complain when survivors spawn with the minimal amount pallets a map can have. Would complain when the tiles for survivors are really bad, or there are massive dead zones, or would you say well bad luck and move on. Luck in DBD is a pretty big factor for both killers and survivors.

I'll be honest I'm a Killer main who's had it with dbds community, primarily the other Killer mains. The guy 4% he got completely lucky and jumped off the hook which is complete luck base. Otz is going to lose this challenge over and over for a while because as he wins with other killers has increasing their mmr meaning "harder matches". 1 guy 4 percent's and its the end of the world? How is it unfair to jump of the hooks? If most killer mains had it their way with this game survivors wouldn't want to play it anymore for example Deadhard. Deadhards been in this game for so long but now everyone wants it nerfed survivors can't have anything anymore. Mind you their are many perks that got nerfed that were deserved i.e Boon: COH (Impossible to leave slugs or do hit and runs), Boil Over (People exploited it and kept going to RPD), DS etc. Survivors can't keep having their perks nerfed they don't have many good ones as it is when's the last time you seen someone run sole survivor, poised, aftercare, etc. etc.
This game just needs changes like for instance Nurse doesn't need range addons, Blight should've been a 110 killer and needs some addons nerfed, Mikey and his addons need to be looked at, noed isn't healthy in this state of the of the game it needs a rework, DMS needs a nerf, Twins need to be looked at (They're fine but like gimme an addon were I can immediately wake up as Charlette and not be all sluggish waiting), Bubbas no fun to go against, Slinger needs a buff (they nerfed him and gave him nothing in return), Freddy could be tweaked, wraith could be touched (he shouldn't stand next to you uncloaking and cancel out whatever you were going to), I can genuinely keep going but my man 4% being removed is stupid imo its not like a survivor kobes every single one of your matches, 1 person 4% on your favorite streamer and it's all of sudden to op gtfo
2 -
I am sorry but I highly respect survivor that Kobe at 4%. I love the aspect and the hype that comes out of it xD. I personally think it should not be remove.
my condolence goes to Otz's winning streak, however.
3 -
I did not say that at all, in fact people have kept playing Dead by Daylight even in the darkest most frustrating times in 2017/2018 because it was a fun game.
0 -
The 4% is outdated
2 -
The important thing is not being right or wrong, but finding the truth, that's what I try to achieve.
0 -
Maps with 8 pallets in total, which can happen, is also a huge problem.
Also, that type of RNG you can try to work around having map knowledge and using stealth preemptively in case there is a huge deadzone, while with 4% luck you don't know IF it's gonna happen, and if so WHEN it'd gonna happen. You don't know.
0 -
There are a lot of things in DBD you have little too no control over. I just find it silly when people say, you didn't deserve that win, you just got lucky. Meanwhile praise themselves for how good they are when the game the game blocks the good window, or gets very unlucky with hook placements. Luck is luck. While some somethings people may have a little bit of control, its still a substantial amount for both survivors and killers. At the end of the day (survivor or killer) if I get lucky, I'm going to capitalize on it, as most players will.
0 -
Because the game isn't unfair enough for killer as is.
Honestly, what should be done is making it so you can't successfully Kobe off the hook unless you bring items that boost your chances. Make the base rate like 0%, but make the increasers slightly better to compensate. If you wanna get off hook, you gotta spend a perk or offering for it.
0 -
Sucks for Otz but it doesn't happen enough imo to really be a problem. If there's at least one survivor running around, most hooked survivors will wait for them to come. There is a massive risk in trying to unhook yourself, most don't do it because it speeds up the sacrifice. It only pays off for that tiny percentage.
1 -
You want something that has only a 4% chance to happen removed from the game? Do you know the last time I saw someone pull themselves off the hook without deliverance? It was literally months ago. I can't even remember the last time I did it. That is how rare it is. Seriously I can't believe posts like this are made.
0 -
This would also mean that chests and skillchecks would have to be removed. Oh and Pig's helmet I guess. Ceno's box. The map generation alongside spawnpoints.
2 -
Although I think the mechanic is fair I will say it's easily abused by hackers and it's not really provable.
0 -
the 4% chance should never be taken out of the game and I will die on this bridge.
I could go on for a long time on the passive benefits the 4% Luck base adds to the game, or the philosophical implications of such an effect in terms of design diversity, but instead I will tell you the true - true - true reason why I will never want to see that fateful 4% leave the game.
I'm going to say this, because it's too good of a story to stay 'too personal for online'
2020, very early Pandemic time.
Locked indoors, playing games like we all do.
Playing Trapper, Pale Rose, doing pretty good.
The survivors honestly never stood a chance, I route them.
2 survivors are dead and the last two are a Yui and Jake that I haven't hooked yet, they've been stealthily doing gens.
I toy around with them in chase, but it seems like they were goofing around too much at the start to make a comeback.
After catching the Yui out, I go on to chase her Jake teammate - he's illusive, I lose him and think he's doubling back to the hook.
Feels bad, maybe I'll give Jake hatch, I'll just make sure Yui dies on hook - she's getting close to second stage.
As I approach, the Yui attempts escape and ... She FREES HERSELF!
She lands on her feet right before me and understands her predicament. She instantly drops her item at my feet for mercy.
In truth, I sure as heck am not going to hook her again - that was AWESOME! She took a last ditch gamble on that 4% chance and landed it. I'm not going to ruin that by smacking her down and putting her right back on the hook, that would just be mean spirited.
I leave her be, and she follows me around for a bit until I find Jake.
I put him down and place him on a hook. I have to shake my head at the Yui to let her know not to save her friend.
She lets me close the hatch after we find it and I escort her to the exit gates where she opens them.
We exchange jokes in the post game lobby.
She invites me into a Discord call and we start chatting - talk all night. Hop into a few matches in different games as we carry on conversation.
Call her up the next day, and the next day and the next day.
Exchange information, talking and texting every moment we can spare.
Drive upstate and hang out with her.
She moves out of state.
I fly out a couple of times to see her.
I get a ring.
Our wedding was on December 5th 2020.
We've been married for over a year.
She's my 4%.
Keep the 4% in the game.
If it were not for that, I would not have met the love of my life and found the joys of marriage and what it means to start a family.

I think I found the next hot nerf topic after Dead hard 😂
0 -
Huh? youre saying the LUCK to live is unfair?
its a mechanic that happens once in a blue moon, and youre saying thats unfair?
even in real life, most of your opportunities are luck based. that 4% is a do or die situation.
otz just got unlucky. deal with it.
0 -
Wow, I don't know if this is true, but very interesting and unique story! But if it was like this, the same could be said for the opposite.
For example, someone kills 10 people, and then because of that 1 of them, who is a criminal, dies. Does that mean killing is right?
0 -
Going to be straight with you, my friend - a game mechanic that gives survivors an effective 1/10 chance to unhook themselves and a 9/10 chance to turn 'Strike 1' into 'Strike 2' is not at all the same as taking human life.
All in all - it's just a game, and how many times do you ever see this in a match?
I can count on one hand how many times I've seen a survivor 'Kobe' off a hook since I met my wife.
0 -
When it happens it can also mess up your MMR, literally yesterday I kobed when I was the last to day and Legion was going to the guy opening the gate. I opened the other gate, and I escaped. Was that a skillful play? No, it was just luck, but because of luck situations like that the game can completely flip in a frustrating way, same with Trapper or Pig where RNG plays a massive factor, and same with maps that either can be complete dead zones or a pallet town.
Also, if someone kobes, they keep DS, and if they go in a locker you cannot do anything.
Still it's a 4%, but this is nothing compared to what deliverance can do, especially if everyone in a team runs it. It's massive pressure on the killer for no reason, and it incentivises camping and tunneling, because you get hit by it even if you go for multiple hooks.
Overall the kobe and luck mechanic should be reworked, as well as all the amount of RNG in the game.

Eh, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree.
I got myself off the hook once or twice and got killed soon after.
Deliverance DS players are nothing new - and they certainly don't break the game. The 4-10% spread over 3 attempts isn't a deal breaker.
All in all, it isn't earned - but it's far from frustrating. If someone gets the 4% luck chance on their hail Mary and get off the hook, you almost can't even be upset. It's such a blind chance. You wouldn't get mad if a huntress threw a random hatchet into the air during chase and it came back down and bonked you on the head - because it's so bizarre and rare.
Personally, I think Luck should play a larger role in the game than just being an unhook score. The game needs a little more RNG in it to keep things interesting, not less. If maps were static, pallets were always the same, perks always the same, loops always the same, hooks always the same - the game would grow old far quicker than ever.
Agree to disagree because I see where you're coming from in wanting refined structure. But I believe that injecting a little more subtle randomness will add some much needed variety and interest to a game that's far too competitive for its own good.
